The spirit and exuberance of melodies, rhythms, and singing are astonishing. All share the same spirit. Spontaneous, rocking souls and sprits of all singers. Reflect Korean people as a whole. I am proud of the heritage we inherited. All singers deserve our gratitude. Contemporary composers should step up to plate to keep up heritage alive.

She is Kim Yong-Im. She is sometimes confused with Kim Young-Im because of similar name. Kim Yong-Im : 김용임 Kim Young-Im : 김영임 Both Kim Yong-Im and Kim Young-Im are famous singers in Korea.

kragey, her name is 김용임 --in the Roman alphabet it's written Kim Yong-Im or Kim Yong-im, or sometimes (incorrectly) Kim Young-Im or Kim Young-im. Copy and paste those variations and you'll find a lot of her stuff on youtube. I love this woman's voice too.

I am very pleased to see another MV of Kim Yong-Im(real DIVA)! Her voice is sometimes sorrowful and sometimes powerful! She is the girl whom Nature made for us.

1 months ago, I went to a Korean Book Store in NYC and found a CD titled Essence of Korean Spiritual Music which contains 16 tracks, 11 of which are variations of Arirang, to include the one by Ri Kyong Suk; Japanese Philharmonic and the Japanese Symphony Orchestra. I cherish this CD.

"Arirang" is arguably the most popular and best-known Korean folk song, both inside and outside Korea. Arirang is an ancient native Korean word with no direct modern meaning. 'Ari' means "beautiful" (For example 아리따운 native Korean word means "beautiful", "lovely", "charming") 'Rang' can mean "dear".

She is Kim Yong-Im, not Kim Young-Im. Kim Yong-Im is 김용임 and Kim Young-Im is 김영임 in Korean. Kim Young-Im is a another singer who sings Korean traditional songs.

@scotte888 it is arirang. there are many different types. every region has different types of arirang that is most popular. but all arirang is basically the same. similiar lyrics and melody. just a few differences

partially right.. Originally this song is another version of Arirang of Jungsun city, Kangwon Province in Korea, and the tune of the song is very slow and sad, but this singer rearranged it fast and like modern trot...

i'm korean it is arirang it's just differend version we have many type of arirang the normal arirang is from Gyeong-gi-do and this one is from Gang-won-do (these are state of korea) but second fast song is not arirang the first one is arirang (state of korea)

The hanja pyogi of palmanguamja should be "八萬九庵子 (eighty thousand and nine temples)," not 八藍九菴子.

제 말은 그래서(?) 아니라는 거죠. 한국은 사회적 분위기나 그런게 노래나 춤을 자유롭게 즐길 수 있는 분위기도 아니고....한국인들 성격상 수줍어하고 그나마 노래방 아니면 노래도 잘 안 부르니까. 저 같은 경우는 수줍어하는 게 좀 심해서 노래방에 가서도 노래 불러본적 한번도 없고 태어나서 춤 춰본적이 단 한번도 없어요. 솔직히 이런면에선 미국인들이 부러워요...
