This is similar to what Komuro Koji calls his one step uchimata, which he demonstrates on his Komlock channel. Instead of pulling up though he pulls to his hip but the reverse foot step in is the same. Yamashita sensei teaches a version where he actually pulls straight down, say after an Ouchi gari attack where your opponent steps out backwards, you then one step in and at the same time pull his elbow towards the mat. He is now way off balance, head down, easy to roll over onto his back.
3:26 tori pulls the elbow down, not up as discussed! No hate, I struggle with this and wanted to see if on the move he was still able to get good lift on the elbow, as after thirty years, I still slip into the same habit. However, having seen Yamashita instruct his students to pull down, maybe it's a good habit to have!
Hey Matt, I've watched your 20 facts about yourself video and in it you talk about how you only wear mizuno gi's. I have a very similar build to you and i was wondering which mizuno gi and what size you wear. thanks
well insome cases we have to take off the Judogi in practices and hence there are women and men mixed togeher..perhaps it's better so. I even have a shirt extra, just to be sure ^^
+Aman Haridas Cuba and Russia excel in judo cause the teach wrestling moves to their judokas, I'm sorry but ur sensei is being silly. Even Bruce Lee took a bit from every martial art to make one of his own.
+Karl Eduard I mainly call this a Korean Uchimata as it is the main entry that Jeon and other Koreans sue when executing uchimata. Inoue also does the same entry with his left vs right uchimata.
