This system for helping with polyphony has been around for a long time on roland keyboards. The roland XP and JV series had a process called note reserve.

Hi there, great video. I love your advice on saving polyphony by defining the split zones per program such as the bell being exclusively in the higher regions instead of being active all over the keyboard. This is a method I use to maximize the polyphony of my custom combinations. I remember being able to set the EDS-X sound engine on my Krome to drop the oldest notes first. I love that feature. It's so innovative. I'll dig into the Nautilus sound engine over the next few days and check how much more I can optimize it.

Yeah there are some good features to aid with polyphony resource management. Stuff can get out of hand quickly as far as running low on voices.

@Romano Koen, "I remember being able to set the EDS-X sound engine on my Krome to drop the oldest notes first. I love that feature. " How did you do this? i'm trying to figure out things about polyphony for krome ( i just bought krome today)

@@autochessmobile-highlights3807 congratulations! Krome is such a high value product. I love that Korg basically gives a Kronos highlight reel of sounds. They're just beautiful. Would you please permit me some time to show you that? Enjoy your Krome. What model did you get?

Thank you!!!! I bought this board because of your videos. Could you do a video showing how to turn off the Y+ modulation. I’m having issues, while I’m working out of combi and I have my synths stacked over a piano, the piano is “moving” just like the synths. Thanks for ANY help! All the best.

I was playing with sounds the other night seeing how my keyboard responded to polyphony. I need to dig in more but I was doing the splitting, only using certain ranges for certain sounds, and also trying this with panning of sounds. I want to check it out more but in some ways it felt as if I could maintain the full sound and get the benefit more adding more sound. 128 note polyphony seems to really only do good with 2-3 sounds unless you start doing what you are describing. I would assume 256 polyphony probably would be good for 3-6. Lately I have been constantly going back a forth as to whether I need to just go all in on software synths and a computer with midi controller or cheap portable workstation.

Virtual instruments are a great alternative to hardware synths... From a cost efficiency perspective there is no comparison between the two. But hardware just feels different to use and own. Some people don't like sitting down and having to interact with a computer to create music. The depth of VSTs can definitely have an affect on the creative side of things... But at the same time the options at your disposal are crazy. I can't wait to jump into Komplete and try and make some music from scratch using just it. I saw that you commented on one of those videos too.

I have the Nauti 73. My biggest gripe with the synth is the low res screen. In the poly six engine for example the text is really blurry. I wish there was a way to extract or use an external device/screen via usb. This is possible with the MODX and montage. With those you can route the display out on to an external larger touchscreen. Also it would be nice to map the nanokontrol 2 to the on screen knobs and buttons and see the corresponding animation/rotation on screen. I know that you can map the nano to cc’s but the values sadly don’t save when writing a program for example. But keep up the great job you’re doing. All the best.

Interesting enough... I don't know a single person that uses their keyboard in that way. But I understand the need for higher resolution graphics on keyboards. I don't think the text is blurry though.

You can map the parameters and you can save the adjustments to the program as well.

I had sound cut off on a simple interval. Swapped out my Nautilus, to a new one.

What do you mean simple interval?

just 2 notes, one was cutting off. Italian Grand piano only. While holding, the one flat key, it just cut off randomly.
