Luciano Minetti from Korg shares an in-depth overview of the Korg Nautilus Music Workstation.
Korg Nautilus gives players the flexibility and power of Kronos' nine sound engines - with even more sounds - in a streamlined, high-quality performance synth. Pushing the boundaries of what a performance synth and workstation is capable of, Nautilus offers a novel approach to sounds, open sampling, audio recording, effects, and plenty of processing power. An intuitive workflow centered around a seven-inch touchscreen enables access to convenient arpeggiator and drum track functions, while smooth sound transitions eliminate dropouts when changing sounds. Nautilus is available with an 88-key RH3 weighted keyboard action, 73-key semi-weighted keyboard, or 61-key semi-weighted keyboard.
Get more for your money with an exclusive Korg Nautilus music workstation bundle from Kraft Music. These package deals include the accessories you'll need to get the most out of your new workstation synthesizer, all for one low price. If you have any questions, please contact us. Our knowledgeable Sales Advisors will be happy to assist in choosing the bundle that's right for you!

This is the most convincing tutorial I've seen for buying a workstation ever! These machines go very deep, so showing the important features and how easy it is to use them, makes a buying decision much easier. Well done Sir!!

One of the best demo's of a this keyboard I have seen, great work. As a guitar player owning a Nautilus for the last 3 months I learnt more from this overview than loads of other Y/T videos. But would really appreciate a more step by step on where and how to SAVE combo/program/dowloaded files. As I find this very confusing , some people have accidentally over written OBOARD PATCHES in error. thanks John

Great presentation. Korg UI designers, please consider getting rid of those lists of choice and windows with white background. Most of the UI is in nice dark theme, but those white backgrounds are blinding white!

Thank you for the video Luciano and overview. I am hoping though that Korg brings out another successor to the Kronos. Don't get me wrong the Nautilus looks great, but for hands on control, people are craving for something like the Kronos considering that it is now discontinued.

I have an 88, and after many gigs I've got to say it's probably the best keyboard I've ever owned, and I've had them all, from a Farfisa Duo Compact to a DX7 to a Jupiter 50.

The only criticism I'd make is that, given that most of the settings and controls are on-screen, a 10' or 11' format would have been more appropriate for this one.

The setlist function is the most useful, especially if you can assign a footswitch to it to be able to jump from sound to sound without having to lift your hands off the keys. This function should be by now universal and basic in any workstation. Most people who use workstations play live music in a band, so I always found the drum tracks to be a bit of a useless function in this type of keyboards. Those who need drum tracks and accompaniments will go for an arranger normally. And if I may have one more complaint (sort of) it's the string sounds. The last Korg which had a really useful, direct, immediate , chugging string patch was the N264. Ever since then Korg (and most manufacturers really) go for the "lush, slow" type which has a very limited usability. In ballads, slow stuff they might work but even in those cases one has to totally adapt their playing style because these sounds are always late and they tend to swell, meaning that you can't really play any fast parts on them. Sure they sound impressive on demos and they certainly help selling the product (I get it, that's the point), but in real life situations direct, fast string sounds with a well defined attack would be much better. From those one can edit and apply effects to obtain something more slow and lush should they need something like that, but the reverse is not true.

Oasys is the best keyboard of all time , hands down. we can not see anything like that in the future ! just see what they did with Nautilus AT , they are using intel main board like they used in Kronos and cheap Plastic, and they are removing all the buttons they can including the Touch pads, Korg had to simplify Karma Software and implemented in the new line up with capability to produce custom GE inside the keyboard, if anyone in Korg see this please hear us , we want to see Oasys 2 one professional keyboard with tilting display , you are going in the wrong direction with Nautilus , please bring back the king we want to see another "Return of the King"

When I read the specs it looks as though the Korg Nautilus will actually work with USB MIDI controllers like the Novation Launchpad X, the Korg microKEY, and the Roli Lightpad Block. Can anybody confirm that this is so? Usually USB MIDI controllers are just for use with a DAW.

cool video but how do you actually access each individual sound engine and start to program them ?
@jordanking7711
@jordanking7711 8 месяцев назад
By the program banks I would imagine (not category). Each bank is assigned a different sound engine. The manual should tell you which bank is assigned to which engine. Once you have chosen the sound (in this case MS-20) touch the graphic on the main page to access the parameters (in this case the patch bay)

Great Demo! What about polyphony?
@kraftmusic
@kraftmusic 6 месяцев назад
Polyphony is a bit complicated with the Nautilus. Each sound engine uses different levels of polyphony. The breakdown is: SGX-2: 100 voices; EP-1: 104 voices; HD-1: 140 voices; AL-1: 80 voices; CX-3: 200 voices; STR-1: 40 voices; MOD-7: 52 voices; MS-20EX: 40 voices; PolysixEX: 180 voices

@raul0ca

I think they were trying to keep costs down with the Nautilus. Top end arranger keyboards are in the US$5000+ price range while the Nautilus has to compete in the US$2000 workstation range with the Roland Fantom 0 and Yamaha ModX

The same sound engines as Kronos? Why not a physical modelling engine, based on something other than strings? Why not an MS - 50? Mono - Poly? Lambda? Delta? Poly - 61? And why, for pity's sake, not a LARGER, tilt - able screen or an external screen interface? And why aren't any of our questions answered?

Is this like a simplified version of the Kronos or is it totally different?
@jordanking7711
@jordanking7711 Год назад
I would say yes given the fact that it has the same 9 engines as the Kronos did, as well as largely the same UI. Only differences is no KARMA obviously, and that most of the operations of the Nautilus is touch screen based. Kind of like what the M50 and Krome was after the M3, although the M50 had KARMA but you get the point. Krome did not though.

It’s meant to be a streamlined Kronos. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it in my opinion. Not everything in my opinion needs to be a massive upgrade from the last. Particularly if the Kronos was so popular previously. Only thing I will say is that I wish the screen was bigger, and more hands on controls like the Kronos.
@QuantumComposer
@QuantumComposer 8 месяцев назад
@@jordanking7711 Well, it's been 12 years since the Kronos was released. I would have expected them to come up with a few fresh ideas during this time. Basically, I agree with you that the Kronos was a brilliant workstation at that time, but a lot has changed in the 12 years and there is definitely room for improvement in some areas. For example, I don't understand why the Nautilus now has even fewer hardware controls. The trend is going the other way round and the operation of the Kronos was always its weakest point.

Please find this comparison, and please try to do a collaboration with Mexkeys alias Enzo Messina, a great famous jazz pianist, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fpH8tlrLxuI.html I am really sorry but a comparison with a single sound is not so fair for me, I played all of those synth and i can assure that Korg is the one with most powerful sound and deep basses (i am not a fan boy, I am trying to understand which one I could buy), montage is the one more 80's sounds more brilliant and detailed sounds but less powerful, and the kurzweil is the one with less basses and a cutting medium range with the warmest sounds. The fantom is a breakthrough between montage and Nautilus, but with very bright sounds, probably with the best organ sounds. Anyway all of those are fantastic synth with incredible possibilities, but this comparison IMHO doesn't give justice to all, you should play more than one sound for each one
@Jason75913
@Jason75913 9 месяцев назад
wut Roland is exclusively '80s and '90s sounds (their first, excessively late venture into modern sounds is their new Gaia2 synthesizer), Montage has some limited number of modern pads and other sounds, and the Nautilus is just absolutely crazy with all its synth engines and incredible pianos. Brightness is irrelevant, they all have equalizers to brighten the sound to help cut through a busy mix on any stage. Warmth is also irrelevant, all can have their sound warmed up with post FX, they are designed for you to tweak them to your taste. So it is best to choose according to features of you cannot try them in person.

Great keyboard with premium keybed, but little to no integration with studio environments. The software editor is unbelievably terrible and archaic and its only capable of the 3 stereo analog outs for tracking or 1 stereo out over USB. No transport controls or DAW templates. A live musicians Swiss army knife but an inferior technological headache for studio based musicians & producers. Happy Menu Diving!!🤓
