This is my favorite VA ever. It's deep and extremely versatile as a sooped-up 16 part drumsynth, excellent vocoder, deep fx editing, complex modular-like patching, perfect EGs and curve editing... this synth has everything a synth geek can handle. I had every VA's imaginable and nothing comes close, in my opinion.

This synth is a monster. I've been using the MS2000 for many years, and used to think of the Radias as an update with more features but it's much more than that and has a different, much more powerful sound. It's not really possible to grasp that sound on a YT video, it's amazing when you listen to it live though. Thanks for this great tutorial!! ❤
Awesome tutorial, this is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased one of thee recently with no manual and was having a hard time figuring out how the sequencer worked. This should give me all I need to start banging out some cool stuff.
Good tutorial. I don’t think you need to set the velocity for each step. If you want no velocity sensitivity, I believe you can set the EG LvlVelInt, TimVelInt and filter VeloSense to 0. To affect the arpeggiation’s volume, use the Timbre amp level or osc1/osc2 levels.
Note velocity and volume are not always the same. The sound something makes can soften with lower velocity. I am not certain if this applies to the Radias sounds though?
@@MikeHaddon yes it helped a lot. I would invite you a beer if I could. Just got a Radias two days ago and this helps a lot to avoid reading the manual for a quick start. Of course I will dig more with time, but I bought in an app where I have some days to try it and complaint if something fails, so I need to learn as fast as possible. I simply love the synth and I have owned several gears, real analog vintage like a Juno and a Alpha Juno as well :) the Radias simply is a different kind of synth with its own particularities. Some controllers have a system setting for the velocity (real or 0-127) and use the controller to record your sequence. My interest in the Radius is the sequencer. Do you have to chain seq 1 & seq 2 to get a 64 step loop? I would like to use for a synth sound 64 step melody loop. Watched the entire video and learned a lot. This is a pretty deep synth! Thank You for your time.
How is the build of this synth? Someone in my are is selling one for 850.00 for excellent condition. The radius is 15 years old and I’ve heard that the MS2000 is very prone to dsp issues. Any advice? The synth is incredible but I’m just skittish about buying such an old synth.
I bought mine used and it was in really great shape. The display is still very sharp on mine. I have other Korg stuff that is even older than this and they are still rock solid. I guess as with anything it depends on the one you buy and where you buy it from. I got mine from a local Guitar Center and they had a nice exchange policy in case of issues so I could really work it. Hope this helps.
850 is not a bad price since a lot are starting to ask for 1400. The Synth is solid aluminum and very sturdy. Display is great and does not wash out horrbily. I have had mine for for 5 years and no scratchy encoders etc. It just works without issues no dead notes or hanging notes. It is worth money as it is one of Korgs finest in a very long time.
I’m looking for a Mac Radias sound editor 2.0.1 - I have 2.0.0 from the Korg website. Apparently they release version 2.0.1 and that’s what some people are using with success, but the only problem is Korg doesn’t have it on there website anymore, and my version 2.0.0 keeps crashing when I boot it up. If anyone knows of any way to get a link to the 2.0.1 version let me know please.
I tried it with a cheese grater Mac on Big Sur with no luck. The editor does work on Windows 10 with one caveat; the Radius (and other Korgs) must in the FIRST 10 devices (first page when you uninstall without uninstalling the RADIAS driver) for USB. There is a way to do this if this is the case for you so, you can use the editor (was for me - I uninstalled all extra USB devices until the Monologue and the RADIAS were on the same page. I then plugged everything back in and it worked). Mac may be in the same boat with 10 devices limitation. I am not sure
@@XDarkstarXUnknownUnderverse thanks for your input man. I’m think it might be in my best interest to get software that lets you run an emulation of windows on your Mac. I forget what it’s callled off hand but I’m pretty sure I have it installed on one of my old MacBook Pros. So you basically got me thinking that this might be my best bet. I’m not sure if I mentioned but the editor is not working on 4 different macs that I use. Even the one with the matching compatibility doesn’t work. That was working for a day, and then started crashing instantly on boot up. Luckily my Virus Ti-1 editor is working on my computer. It pays off to not upgrade your computer some times lol. I’m looking into a cheese grater Mac my self. But as far as the Radias editor goes, I’m pretty sure Windows will just have to do. I could care less about using the editor for anything else other then loading and unloading custom patchs/programs.

I just looked up wine 🍷 and it turns out this might work for both my laptops because they are running High Sierra & Mojave. My 2010 SSD & 16gb ram Mac works flawlessly and it’s so fast that I’m scared to update the OS. Plus I think the OS can’t be updated anymore beyond that. So once again not having an older Mac has helped me out. I’m gonna download Wine, install windows, and give it a go. Once again appreciate your advice and knowledge. I’ll come back to these comments once I get everything done and give ya an update. Maybe this will help others too.
