Today's Korg Volca Sample tip is dedicated to the SWING knob which can shift even-numbered steps forward (from left to right) up to 75% of a step (regular swing) and backward (from right to left) up to 75% (negative swing). Have fun.
Thank goodness, finally someone who makes demos while actually making something musical. 90% of RU-vid demos show sequences that so dull and repetitive that I can't help but turn them off after 30sec. Great job and good tips! Subbed.
Yeah. Looping is a drug. Many people are stuck in it without realizing the lack of musicality. It's ok for clubbing I guess, but too many does the same generic stuff
@@natura808 thanks for the video. Some questions about swing. My understanding is that one part of the sequence represents the grid and that either apart of the drum kit or the keyboard sequence hit slightly off grid constantly. what do does "positive" and "negative" mean in relation to this position? thanks
@@sat1241 One moves even numbered notes to the left and the other moves same notes to the right - the higher the value the further it moved from the grid, don’t remember which moves in which direction, all odd numbered notes will stay in the same place anyway.
Mine Is synced to the Akai MPC Live 2, also audio out from Volca Sample goes into Akai Live2 audio input, so you can sample it anytime or use Akai as a mixer in sync with Volca Sample. Great duo with the Akai Live2, I'm pretty sure it'll work in the same way with the Akai Force.
Hey Man! Question: It's posible to create drum patterns in odd time signatures with this Volca? I mean the 5/4, 7/8 kind of thing! You're some kind of Volca magician! Cheers from Argentina!
Yes, You can do odd time signatures. All Volcas has the Active Step function which is allows You to pick how many 16th notes in one bar and You can combine bars with different time signature ;) Cheers Man!
Groovy! Is it possible to have different active steps per part? That would be amazing for polyrhythms.. and other question, do you know the Swing range? Looks really awkward.. from -75 to +75 instead of 0-100, 50%+/-, 0-127... What number would represent the Triplet swing in this case?
This is very interesting. Do you know if there's any other hidden functionality through using the func button? (meaning asides from the obvious labled secondary functions) When I originally read through all the documentation I did not come across this negative swing feature. Really good trick to know though.
