Korg X3 New Sound Collection Disk

Hey by the way, the X2 had an extra 2MB piano sample in it so Korg actually has a X2 specific Factory Reset that utilizes the new piano sample-I could include this as well. Hey Bruce.....ya I can give you some more info on this and I think I can help. So what KORG did was include one extra PCM sample in the X2 which was a 2MB Piano sound. It was sample #340 Piano * . With the original factory presets from KORG, the original X3 Program A01 patch was called Piano 16 which used (I believe) sample 000. Meanwhile on the Factory delivered X2 the original Program A01 patch was called X2 Piano and it used new sample 340. (again sample 340 was the special extra PCM sample of an acoustic piano only found on the X2). If you still have the original factory sounds in your X2 you can 'recover' X2 Piano by selecting program A01, push EDIT button, use the cursor up/down arrows to go to 1B OSC1 SOUND, on that screen you will see the PCM sample as 000 Piano. Use the Value slider or Yes/No arrow buttons to change the PCM sample to 340 Piano. Now use the cursor up arrow to go to page 1C OSC2 SOUND. Do the same thing-use the value slider or Yes/No arrow buttons to change the PCM sample to 340 PIano. SAVE YOUR PATCH..... That's it budd. Your Program A01 now uses the X2 special piano sample, plus all the COMBI patches that use program A01 will now pick up the new piano PCM sample automatically. FYI, I do have the original factory reset disk for the X2/X3 if you need along with the new sounds collections disk I talk about here on eBay. Not sure I got that. Save is Write? and response Y/N is Yes to save but it didn't seem to save. I'll have another go with more light. Note: To get page 1C you need to have page 1A set to double oscillators. Anyway, are you saying the X3 also has the same extra 2mb piano sample? That would be cool. Checking now.

@@NathanEllery Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was one of the main differences between the X2 and X3 was the absence of that 2MB piano patch in the X3. Hope this helps. BTW, HannahMontanaWannaB1 had a pretty nice disc set I bought from him with a bunch of useful patches on them. I thought it was well worth the small investment. Not sure if he still has them available.

Hi...try this. Insert the sound collection disk, push the DISK button and then make sure you use the cursor buttons to select LOAD P/C/G (which is Korg screen display '1B'). If you try and load from the 1A directory page you will see no data. You need to move the screen display to 1B Load P/C/G data. let me know...tom

hey scott, sorry I'm late responding....here's my comments. 1) your X3 PCG backup will work on an X2. They are really the same KORG brain inside......same operating system etc. The X2 has got 76 notes so you get another octave and KORG also included an extra piano sample sound byte in the X2 so you should be able to get better piano sounds. Other than that, I believe the 2 keyboards are really the same and yes my disk will work in both the X2 and the X3. FYI, I've owned both but currently just have my X3. hope that helps! :)
