Korrasami: Well Designed Relation or an Afterthought | Legend of Korra Video Essay 

It's great this format of video for the Korra series. Tbh I never sensed any rivalry between them, not even in book 1 since they always were supporting each other. Mako was always the problem. It's really good that their friendship grow in book 3 and that they worked things out about the whole Mako theme

Hey, really appreciated the video and the emphasis on the circumstances when the show came out. I've read a few articles from different people in the western animation industry on how Korra and Asami's relationship at the end helped allow representation. Speaking of Arcane, on twitter a few years back that Amanda Overton's (one of the writer's - now head writer for season 2) said that Korra was "an all-time fave".

One of the reasons for why Korrasami is my favorite ship in TLOK is its subtly. I always love catching those spread throughout moments of them bonding, helping each other, sharing screen time, etc. In earlier seasons is them getting to know each other, in later seasons is them being an amazing team. I love how they complement each other through their differences and how they also share some similarities. Korra and Asami's relationship from friends to love interests is to me, still to this day one of the highlights of The Legend of Korra. This is one of the best developed ships in the entire Avatarverse. I love it, I love these characters, and I sincerely hope that once Avatar Studios gets started Bryan and Mike will create more TLOK content. The comic books are taking forever to be realised and there have been rumours about an animated movie at some point. I honestly even want an animated series continuing where Ruins of the Empire left of. The RPG game is not enough, I want more TLOK and Korrasami on my screen. I can only hope. I am reminded too after recently watching a video essay about how the 90s was the first real decade for lesbian inclusion being really brought forward on screen, that our perception of media absolutely is affected by when we watch things. I wish there was more outright representation for Korrasami, but it’s weird how much I already forget how rare it was to see that even such a short time ago. Great essay! Ps I usually watch your videos while getting things done, so I mega fell behind on your AOT reactions (since they’re subtitles) but im still here!

definitely my favorite ship in the avatarverse. obviously we needed more of them together but kills me when people say it's "rushed", like there weren't 2 seasons of deliberate buildup to their FIRST date after being friends for 4 years😭

story shaped itself which i like it very much. I always felt that this idea came up after 2. season and they started to build this relationship in 3. season. but like you said there wasn't anyway even if they wanted to do it in 1. season. the rest of it wasn't certain at the moment. so there is nothing wrong building this idea after mid. way. I would have liked more if it was a bit more obvious. bu i think its understandable for a kid show. and it laterally the first show that show us lgbt relationship in kid cartoons. and we know more avatar movies are on the way. so finally we may have satisfaction about their relationship after all :D

They should have shipped them from the second season because asami was trying to get her but corra didn't know about that love

In my opinion It wasn't even an afterthought, but a product of cowardice. There was no implying of a romantic relationship until It was basically stated "Well, by the way, the world is saved and these two are getting laid in the spiritual world". They were set up to be good friends? Yes, definitelly, their friendship was in clear evolution through the seasons. But there was 0 chemistry for a romance there. The truth is that the showrunners were CHICKENS, they did not had the courage to stablish a proper romance for fear of backlash, so they cowardly implied It in the last scene, aka the point in which they would not face any consequences for It. That's why for me they will forever be just friends, and It's really awkward to see them together in official materials. I would love for them to be a couple, but I just can't stand how badly It was implemented, a couple of this magnetude cannot be built with headcannon.

So I dont actually think the ending scene shouldve been their marriage. It would be great to one day see their marriage but I dont really want it until I've seen more of the years of them being together. If they ever continue Korra and Asami's story in animation, I think their wedding could be the last scene of that movie. Almost like a nod back to LoK's ending. Cuz then we've seen a whole entire movie of them in a relationship that makes a wedding feel rewarding

Amazing Essay Ola🤩Never new that the writers unsure if the season would be continued from one season to the next. That kinda pressure puts a kink in the planning of characters and if they were given more of a definite answer, I'm sure they could have done a better job with all the romance in the series. It was a love triangle mess going back and forth and imo lacked that special something.
