Kos is a popular Greek holiday island in the southeast of the Aegean Sea. It is located in the middle of the Dodecanese and is surrounded by the islands of Kalymnos, Pserimos, and Nisyros island. It is the third-largest Dodecanese island after Rhodes Island and Karpathos Island. Kos is not a big island, it has an area of 295 square kilometres, and the coastline is about 110 km long. The island has a rich history with many historical monuments of remarkable archaeological as well as tourist interest.
