Quick Update for you all about longevity. I find that if I don't wear any moisturiser at all this foundation lasts on me all day. I've got to say I'm a bit smitten by it and can't seem to get enough. It's a hit and I get excited before I reach for it in my drawer. The fact that my skin still looks natural, whilst knowing there's no harmful ingredients in this is the icing on the cake. It took me 30 seconds to apply it the other day! WHOOP! This won't suit everyone, but I LOVE IT! xxx
I’ve been soooo enjoying it! Have had it for 4 months now. I workout at the end of my day and it stays on through that HIIT workout as well. Just blot, don’t wipe...
I absolutely love this foundation 😍 Like you, I wear it for "special" but short occasions. My tips (that work for me and my dry skin) are : 1. Use a dry sponge in areas that crease to blot And 2. A dusting of powdered blush on top of the cream blush REALLY helps with longevity Very, very elegant and sooooooo pretty. 💗🌸💗🌸💗
Lol I just got this foundation and I freaking LOVE it!! I am 56 with normal to dry skin. I apply it with a foundation brush and it works like a dream. I was also incredibly surprised at the coverage it gave. I wasn’t expecting super coverage - I like a light skin like dewy foundation- this almost completely covered my sunspot on my left cheek and yet still looked natural. The only powder I ever use on my face is HG Dim to finish things off and a tiny tiny bit of Fenty lavender powder under my eyes and this wore well all day in extreme heat. It’s a new holy grail for me🥰 Your skin and makeup look gorgeous! Have a beautiful weekend 💕 Xo Tammy Roy🇨🇦
I absolutely love this foundation! I work from home and I love using this with a bit of blush and mascara just to have a professional look during my day. I should add that I am now on my third bottle. I have dry skin and you are correct- you can skip the moisturizer..
Hi! Your channel is wonderful! I am 50 with very good skin normal to dry. I LOVE this stuff. Not oily at all. I have good longevity even with my normal moisturizing routine. I live in a very humid summer climate and it’s so good. Thanks for reviewing.
The look and consistency reminds me of the e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Foundation serum. I like a light coverage foundation for my casual every day look. I am 60 and retired with a casual lifestyle so that type of coverage and natural look works well for me. It sounds like the ingredient list on the Kosas is great so maybe I'll give it a go. Thanks for another great video. :)
Just got this in my boxy. I tried it for the first time this afternoon, and I am OBSESSED. I’m 40 and my face has gone from very, very oily to dryer over the last 5 years. Over the last year, I’ve been having a very hard time with foundation. Full coverage stuff looks insanely cakey, Dewey slides off, and matte clings to everything and sinks into fine lines. I’ve resorted to mixing different formulas and using different products for different areas of my face. Then this came and looks GORGEOUS. I finally found my holy grail.
@@rorblmbo I love it. It’s one of my holy grail foundations. I use it probably more than any of my others. I do powder my t zone and a little under my eyes but usually don’t use any primer. I’ve actually repurchased it recently, I love it so much.
I have very oily skin and was sent this oil foundation in a monthly cosmetics subscription. I was really disappointed to see it as one of my items at first as I’d filled out the subscriptions survey indicating numerous times of my oily complexion. However I am frugal, resourceful and environmentally conscious so I didn’t want to just throw it away. Instead I found 2 brilliant (if I do say so myself 😉) ways oily skin can benefit and look beautiful using this. My skin greatly benefits from oil products, so I use it in place of serums, moisturizer and primer on days when I’m getting “all dolled up”. It definitely fills the need in place of those products plus it gives a bit of coverage while blurring pores, scares etc. I then carry on with my makeup routine starting where I would have following primer. I figured out another way to wear this as I wanted to start wearing lighter, more natural makeup. I already owned a plethora of matte full coverage foundations and didn’t want to waste money or add more to the landfill unnecessarily. So I take at most half a pump of full coverage foundation and blend it with a few drops (typically about 3-4) of the Kosas, applying with a kabuki brush. I love the look and feel of this combo as I get the best of both. Coverage and help staying a bit matte throughout the day from and the natural youthful slightest glow. Applying the products minimally it doesn’t look like I’m wearing any foundation as you can still see my real skin but it blurs my pores, discolouration, pimples etc and doesn’t crease or settle in fine lines, wrinkles etc. I appear blank canvas flawless but like I have healthy, youthful, well cared for and younger skin. Yes, I’m very HAPPY in the end as a mistake turned into my dream base product. Finally a win for a woman (just) over 40 Who’s face definitely shows aging but is still oily and acne prone teen. ❤️ from Shannon in Canada 🇨🇦 PS sorry for the novella length
Good timing Gemma, my Kosas arrived yesterday! I watched your video to nick your ideas first and now I’ve just slapped it on my face. I opted for shade 2 and I have to say it’s perfect for my skin tone. I’d consider this the sort of look for brunch with the girls (when that’s an option again) but for now it’s good for Zoom parties. My work day is long so I’ll see how well it wears on me for that. I’m now curious for the Ilia skin tint, but my shade never seems to be available when I check. Have a wonderful weekend Gemma x
Omigosh you are the most beautiful girl, you remind me of Brittany Murphy and I completely enjoyed putting makeup on together,as I just purchased this and had no idea how awesome this makeup is,it glides on so smooth and lightly, even where I had applied banana concealer under my eyes,I am hooked! It doesn’t even look like Im wearing any, which is strangely the point, right? This is the perfect amount of coverage, and the bottle will last a really long time, considering you literally use 8 drops at a time! This means that my Quest for Foundation is officially over, thanks be to Kosas and the creators! Am forever grateful😍
This looks so lovely on your skin! I'm more of a combo/oily girl so I'm definitely interested to see if any other combo/oily peeps have tried this out 👀👀👀
If it pills with other oily products underneath, try patting / pressing it into the face as you would with a serum, rather than massaging it in. Works amazing with my oily skin and an oily SPF, if anything it makes my natural skin oils blend in rather than stand out prominently, if that makes sense. Just top it up with a setting spray for longevity.
😯 Oh I'm super keen to try it now that I have seen your comment Ekaterina! May I please ask if you find that it is good all year round or better in a particular season?
@@shynsweet87 I've only had it for a month now, so can't tell about the winter. But for me hot summers are way more problematic, so I'm hoping it's going to be as good if not better during colder months.
I tried a sample and just ordered the full sized but was worried about the pilling. Looked for a review that I could relate to- I am 60+ and found yours and great tips so I am feeling very positive now
I am going to have a huge collection of foundations because of you!! Lol!! Now I want to try this one! I will give you my thoughts on it since I am oily/combi.
Great review and tips. I’ve been wanting this ever since I first heard of it before it even came out. Because of my health I haven’t been able to leave the house much for quite a few years and am waiting until I am able. This sounds like a dream for my dry skin. Plus I prefer sheer coverage as well:) If you hear of any primers or try any that help the wear time please update us. Thanks so very much, chickadee🍃🌸
I really wanted to like this. I love the Glossier Oil Foundation but wanted a little more coverage. My skin is normal. I moisturize daily but not excessively. However, the Kosas Oil Foundation found ever single little 'dry' patch on my face - dry patches here-to-for never known. It grabbed dry patches like it was on a mission. I have no idea how or why, but this did not work for me.
Another great review Gemma! Thank you 💗 I’ve been wanting to try this since it came out!!! But the price... it looks beautiful on you! I agree that considering the quality of the ingredients, it’s fairly priced, it’s just still a lot to spend at once... but after your review, I really think that as don as I can I’ll try it! All your tips are excellent! Thank you 💕
Thank you Wolfness! This looks interesting... you are certainly my ( the pack also) go to for info on makeup!!! Your makeup looks fabulous by the way, so I’m going to go to Sephora soon! Stay safe and know how loved AND liked you are♥️you never disappoint ❤️🥰🙋‼️here’s some ice cream cones for you!🤗🍦🍦🍦🍦🍬🍬🍬🍬and a few taffy’s!!! You make me happy Gemma!!!😘🙋♥️‼️
I have oily skin (with texture, fine lines, and a burn scar) and I LOVE my Kosas for a light coverage day. I use Hydrogrip primer and let it settle for awhile, maybe 15 min at least to avoid pilling. This primer works well to extend the life of the product and is really the only primer that doesn’t immediately pill with the oil, even your SPF will do that. I also give some time for my skincare to settle and dab my skin with bamboo/cotton reusable rounds to absorb excess product prior to applying my primer. If you need extra coverage in an area, wait 5 minutes before applying a second coat of the Kosas and you will be able to get more coverage. I have used both cream and powder color cosmetics with it, but generally use my Ambient Lighting palette for slight bronzing and to contour my lids and brighten areas of my face paired with Red Earth’s liquid highlighter on my cheekbones and Cupid’s bow (it’s a pure white, non glitter, looks like natural glow, non tacky and dries down completely, also a good mix in for a matte foundation or high coverage you want to give a glow and depth to a foundation, can be used as a primer, everything I have ever wanted, and just found, product of my dreams lol... also clean beauty, big recommend from me). My overall look is very natural and undone on a Kosas day. To finish, I use a pore blurring translucent setting powder on my t zone and chin, and just “touch up” by dabbing with a clean beauty blender. I generally embrace my shine with that look, but the tint doesn’t slide off my face. Kosas is great. It also does well under the eyes if you aren’t a concealer wearing girl. For me, I haven’t found a concealer that looks right, despite application methods, skin prep, shade, and across the price range! I use Becca undereye corrector and just fade my foundation lightly into that and it works great. Kosas does great all on it’s own, or with Becca, either way. That’s my over 40, oily girl story and tips! Oh, of note, these oils are a light blend, and kind of like how squalane works, they decrease your own oil production. So you aren’t putting heavy oil on, it is very light, and your skin doesn’t react by producing a bunch of oil. I often use squalane on no makeup days and I use rosehip oil nightly. You just need to know you aren’t getting a matte look. It’s a glow for sure!
Looks lovely and natural on you. If you'd wear it for date night, that's high praise indeed. I hate it when I have to choose between fair/cool and fair light/neutral. I happen to be fair light/cool. But then I've never had anything that is this sheer.
When foundations are so liquid, I put a few drops on the back of my hands and spread it with individual fingers. So I don't waste product and my hands are not messy. Please say hello to your family, Gemma! 😘
I know you are supposed to apply with the fingers but I do find the application with a beauty blender is much more flattering. I bought this foundation when it came out and I didn’t love it but then I rediscovered it with the sponge application. The downside of it is that you do spend more product but the result is in my opinion worth it.
I guess I’m late to the party gang! I didn’t even know that a tinted face oil existed. I really enjoyed the other comments! I will definitely give this a try, as I don’t really enjoy typical foundations on my skin. And opposite to you Gemma, I looooove to apply a light foundation with my fingers as it saves me so much time in the morning. I actually (most of the time), mix a bit of foundation with my moisturizer...
I’ve used the Kosas tinted face oil with the Chanel les beiges eau de teint underneath and the combination is beautiful and actually quite long wearing. Worth a try.
What SPF are you finding compatible with this oil foundation? I bought it when it first came out but have been avoiding it because it sat funny on my skin after I used it with the SPF I was using at the time. Have you tried the lip colour yet?
This looks lovely on you. I'm tried this foundation at the beginning of the summer, but I didn't like it for me. Apart the colour not being a perfect match in colour and undertone, I found it to be too 'fussy' about my skincare. Followed advice of other people using it, but the only way I had to prevent the rolling and pilling was not to use any of my moisturisers beforehand. Life is already complicated, I don't have the patience to deal with a fussy and temperamental foundation.🤦🏻♀️
Great video Gem, not sure how Id get on with an oil based foundation but a great concept! Thats what I like about the It cc cream that it has lots of good ingredients. Could you recommend a good powder that would go nicely over a cc cream without highlighting any lines?
I recently received a sample of this tinted face oil... I had heard that best not to apply too much hydration with this. I did not, and found that it was actually a bit drying on my skin, after several hours. I may still buy this... but would have to experiment with my morning routine.
What a lovely product, although I was concerned it would pill when applied over an oil free sunscreen/moisturizer. I wonder if it would work better if one let the SPF sink into the skin for a while before applying it. Your skin looked so pretty on you!! Seems like a good foundation for a natural look! (And the bottle would last a long time!) I also remember when foundation brushes became popular and I didn't have to use my fingers anymore.... I was a happy woman!!😊
Great info! I've been using this for a while, but am not sure I love it, but I've been using with serums and moisturizer and sunscreen underneath! I'm going to try with sunscreen only. Thank you!!!!
This foundation looks beautiful on you. I'm going to try and get a sample and give it a try. Not sure if it will work good on my age 57 skin, but worth giving it a try.
It is a very nice foundation. It took a few trials before I got it right....it needs to be put on after skincare is really sunk in and it does pill if any products you have underneath have silicone. Avoid silicone products with this foundation.
I like that this doesn't contain any 'nasties' - but I'm like you, Gemma, I hate using my fingers to apply foundation - especially if it gets down your fingernails. I would like to try this - but I often make expensive mistakes trying to pick the right shade online. If I did buy it, I think I would be tempted to try applying with a beauty blender.
You look MAH-velous! I would have wrinkled my nose at the idea of a tinted face oil as well but you have me intrigued (not that I need another foundation..haha). Love to you and Wes, Jan, Bea and my special fella, Super Seth! XXOO ❤
Have you tried the wet and wild cushion foundation? It’s surprisingly good! I think it’s prefect for summer bc it’s very light but I still get enough coverage and it’s dewy even after I set it with the no 7 lift and luminate powder.
I am impressed - I do not need any makeup especially foundations but this makes me very tempted. Thanks for another great video with wonderful tips. As always hello to Mom from USA.
I don't know if you watch Zabrena but she just did a video on 8 different skin tints. Drugstore through Kosas. You might find it interesting. Thanks so much!
Your skin looks beautiful. I have very dry skin and I I can hear it calling my name. It's freezing? Sounds good to me. It is 113° in my corner of Arizona.
An oil foundation? I just got started on an oil cleanser! Maybe later. You do look lovely. I wish I needed a sweater. With the humdex, it's over 40 C here!
It just seems like the other day you were melting in the hot room! Better too cool than too hot for me, anyway. We have had more than three weeks of hot and humid weather here in Iowa and other areas of the US, more than average. This look is gorgeous on you!
Gemma, this foundation looks so lovely on your already beautiful skin but what sunscreen do you use with it? Your doing an amazing job on your videos too btw💗
It looks lovely on your skin, but I think that the coverage would be too little for me! I'm all for looking regal as you put it, but in my case it's more Queen Victoria regal, where as you are more Duchess of Cambridge! 😂😜 Soph.x
I have normal to combo skin and this face oil looks nice on but when trying to remove it I found it clogged my pores and was so hard to get out of them, I’ve never had that happen before and it freaked me out so bad
I am thinking about ordering this in shade 02. Also, I picked shade 03 concealer over the 0.5 lightest shade that they suggested. Can you or anyone else tell me if these shades are true. For reference I am using L'Oreal Tinted Serum in the fairest shade 0.5-2 and it matches perfectly. There's a deal going on with Kosas where the tint & the concealer are $49.00. My skin is on the dry side, I am 56 years old with dry, wrinkled undereyes. Am trying to make them look better with everything I've got! 👀 👄
Can I ask why you never apply any foundations up under your eyes please? Is it because it’s best not to take foundations under your eyes? I think I would be better with foundation under my eyes as I find concealers so so drying and they accentuate my lines and I think foundation may enough alone or just a dab of concealer on top. Is it ok to use both or should I be using concealer only under the eyes only but try to find a more hydrating one? Thanks. Love your videos!
You make me feel bad that I haven't wore anything more then eyebrow pencil and mascara in months. That only happens once every 2 weeks. Although my skin is better.
You look lovely but I could see a little shine on you and that means I would be an oil slick, lol. Also, I worry that oil over sunscreen will degrade the sunscreen.
This is pilling on me whether I use my full skin care first or cut it way back before applying. I noticed you mentioned pilling as well, doesn’t that bother you? When I apply this without moisturizing it becomes very drying on my combo / oily skin. How long after sunscreen do you wait to apply this foundation? Thanks!
Reg Chantecaille in your recent video I stated ur color is vanilla I asked u to confirm ur color cuz it’s so darn dark for fair skin blond u returned stating vanilla but just now noticed u stated to others ur color in Chantecaille is porcelain.. so again I’m asking u which color do u use ??????????
Hi Joan, not sure you realise how abrupt this has been worded. I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way which is why I’m answering. I state in the original video that the shade vanilla would be too dark for me when I’m not tanned in the summer months. I’ve since bought my winter shade which is porcelain. X
Won't cover all all the secrets in our soul?😂😂 I'm not sure this would work in the climate I live in. It's going to be 114°F (45.5°C) actual temperature here on Sunday! Kill me now!
I live in Kingman, Arizona and it will be 111 degrees tomorrow here on Sunday! Not so sure about oil products either but I do have dry skin and now using Curology products with Tretinoin which makes my skin drier. But it sure looked good on Gemma and I’m all for a nice light coverage that still hides my dark spots a bit, especially since we aren’t really going anywhere and must use a mask. I still want to look decent so I don’t scare the UPS driver when he delivers my Amazon packages!!!! 🤩
