I just got in on the early-bird special price. Thanks for the head-up. These look interesting. I have the T3 Plus and look forward to comparing the 2. Cheers!
Good to see the sub $100 (>$50) market is getting increasingly crowded with well-tuned IEM's. Very pleased with my Tin T3+ purchase. The sound quality. The quality of the IEM (including the brass nozzle, metal filter), cable, and overall design/fit/finish. Will consider the Dauntless if it hits a price point similar to the T3+...at around $65.
@@paulosilva8200 Decided to go for the Olina ("modded"" with a +1 set of OEM-nozzle filters). Fantastic...like them a LOT. Unfortunately, this did not cure an apparent IEM addiction, so I also received a set of the Shuoer S12's last week. Between the S12, Olina, T3+, HearMirror, Lea, BLON BL-03, Quarks and CCA CRA...I can now feel secure in the knowledge that the IEM addiction is over! Then again, I am now waiting for a set of HE400SE's to arrive. Cans! Here we go again... ...
@@TheHonestAudiophile I have received the Dauntless and they are really good. They are very detailed and have a wide soundstage. I have the Mele as well but I found them overly bassy for what I listen to. The Duantless has bass but is not overwhelming, all the notes are crisp and sharp. Thank you for recommending these. :)
I've never been so convinced that I'm listening to an accurate representation of the music until this IEM, though there have been several close calls this is by far the closest to my preferences. Granted, i did favor the Dauntless with Alza Vivid Edition eartips over the Sony ones provided, but the neutrality either way is enjoyable (i just think the Alza Vivid give the Dauntless a slightly more musical touch while allowing the bass to be appropriately thicker). Bass guitar has never sounded this good with all the boxes checked, especially in terms of speed and textures. I might like a tad more "shout" and likewise "impact" in the mids but the dynamics and discernible qualities of the midrange are plenty good for me. The highs are sizzling and have a perfect amount of "zing". Different take on some of the cymbal clashes than what I'm used to, but I enjoy it. I suspect the Studio4 i ordered to have a similar approach to sound but... $400 worth of quality instead 😅 feels like i should've started with the Dauntless instead of the Aria but at least I finally have the sound I've been looking for :) (i ordered these days before pulling the trigger on the Studio4 by the way, just took a while to arrive whereas the S4 will probably be here Thursday)
I really love your straight honest reviews. Excellent reviews. Do you have a top 10 iem in every price point review and headphones also. More more power to you sir💪
I am glad you enjoy the reviews, thanks for the kind words. Here is a link to my tier list, please view the ranking grade tab as it is different than other lists. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nRHnsP_4vLg9DlD9kwJ6gQuEQFqhTR0lnrkxXo3AMG8/edit?usp=sharing
Hi Dave, fantastic review as always I have the Dunu titan S (which I really enjoy) and was wondering if I should get the dauntless or if they're too similar for it to be worth it? How do they compare?
Titan S is mid forward, the Dauntless is a little more balanced and cohesive. They are pretty similar in details, resolution, tone and timbre. Depends on what you are seeking.
hi there, First of all thank you for your honest ever ready content for the community. Im now hooked on my HZ Heart Mirror ( neutral bright ) i have BL03 and Tin Hifi T2 Plus that i also used occasionally , actually rarely lately. i prefer neutral , slight mids to high presence . a lil weight body on the lows to mids is a bonus , Technicality is the highlight (separation mainly and timbre) soundstage is just realistic and good enough for me. in my shopping cart now is. 1. Dunu Titan S 2. NF Audio NM2 3. could be this Kotori have you tried Titan S? im curious to how it sounds compared to Dauntless
Titan S has arrived but I haven't had but a moment listen to it. A full review is on the schedule but it will be a few weeks. I haven't heard the NM2. Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciated. My pleasure, you're welcome for the reviews.
Thank you for the nice review! I actually ordered a pair of them based on your opinion. I'm quite new to the IEM genre, only has a Fiio FH1s, but I'm interested how the 2 compare.
I haven't heard the Fiio FH1s in a very long time. Sorry I no longer have them available to compare. I look forward to hearing your impressions of the Dauntless.
@@TheHonestAudiophile I quite like the Dauntless. It took quite a bit of time to get here, but it totally worth it. The sound is really nice, sounds more open/wide then the FH1s, and the comfort is also maybe a bit better. Thanks for recommending it!
Thank you for your review Dave! I've bought one and have a question :) I would like to use this with other cables or bluetooth adapter. So, should I buy C type pin or B type pin? If you help, would be really appreciated. Thx.
hi dave, great review as always which one is better in your opinion, between kotori and t3 plus, in term of depth/layering, instrument separation and spatial awareness ?
I'm looking for something Better than the Mele and the T3 plus ........Will these do it...... I enjoy the sound signature of the T3 plus but really love The MELE !
Mele. Better tone than t3 plus. But the dd driver of the tin is better in response and faster but not in tone.for this price I love the paiaudio dr2 pro.tone and everything is perfect apart from the sub bass being a bit to much in around 3 dB. More a bass lover . But you can hear the mids even when the bass is crazy up.
Im done with the TWS, im lucky to ended up soundpeats H1, im a new subscriber Glad that i found your channel Im looking for iems similar to h1 having delicious flavoring fan to listen budget friendly thick sound audiophile levels
The Dauntless is a good option if you want a stage monitor style presentation. If your looking for a more everyday, all-around presentation the Tin Hifi P1 Max is great especially when powered accurately.
Hi..I would like to know which one would you recommend me to buy, I like that the low frequencies are present...the fio fh3, the kotory or the tripowin mele...or the mele olina...thanks regards
I recommend you check out my reviews on all the gear listed, here is how I would rank the ones mentioned in the order of my purchasing recommendations per my preference and overall opinion of gear: Kotori Dauntless - neutral, natural Fiio FH3 - leaning fun Tripowin Mele - bass fun leaning Tripowin Olina (have only heard stock version) - most claim needs modded to sound good
Do you think its a worthy upgrade from the Tin Hifi T2? I’ve been enjoying my T2s for months now and is wondering if there’s a better iem out there than can give out a neutral/natural sound signature at a low price
Fearless audio, Intrepid audio, here comes dauntless. One day the English language is going to run out of words. The countless IEM manufactures need to start worrying now, there will be no more fancy names for their products.
@@vidalskyociosen3326 I actually don't have either. The Dauntless is weird in how you have to order it, so I didn't. The t3 plus' reviews were just MEH so I passed on it. Personally, I feel the Tin HiFi T2 is the absolute best of them all. It does everything right, IMO.
I think they need a bit of power to open up. Just (re)tried them with a balanced cable/azla crystal/fiio btr3k, and added some db with eq on bass. They are still a bit light on sub-bass but well controlled (mid bass and the rest are great, as detailed/separation/tonality), but that don't bother me as they are really excellent on some music like "Dave Mattew's Band" or "Bakermat" etc.. For me they are not perfect all rounders, but a must have.
Tin T3+ vs Hzsound Heart Mirror vs Whizzer HE01 vs TRN BA5? What is sound more similar to TFZ T2? Or more better Can anyone recommended me? Need to change my old TFZ T2 already broken
Sorry, haven't heard TFZ T2, Heart Mirror or HE01. Wasn't a fan of the TRN BA5, here is a link to my review: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XZsECMPUqx8.html Here is a link to my T3 Plus review: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a1aAeRv-9MU.html
ER2XR has more body and note weight, is more mid bass focused, has more forward mids and isn't as extended in the treble. Dauntless has better detail retrieval and resolution , has a wider, deeper and more layered stage. Tone and timbre is too close to call.
Had my eyes on these for a couple weeks now. The kickstarter page is a bit confusing though as to what tier to buy and availability seems to keep going all over the place. The logo kinda reminds me of the bat signal.
Well... got them today, these are how you describded them, and exeptional! Using a copper 2.5 balanced ans final type E. Détails, tonality (i added a bit of EQ for basses), séparation, soundstage and imaging are really great. Eddit: no, exeptional in fact. Listening to ACDC at Riverplate, drums have a kind of 3D imaging (maybe every sounds in fact), great! Elecric guitares are just phenomenales ! Flea, from RHCP, with the bass is rewardedtoo! think i will love them, best purchase ever at that price. I was about to buy Tripowin Olina, i think i don't need anymore😉 55€... crazy value for money !
I was very excited about your review. I already have 7hz timeless, but sometimes I think I want all the good headphones in the world. So I'll definitely buy a few more. Have you ever used Hidizs S3 pro? Would it be on the same level or better than spectra x? Congratulations on the video!
You got to train yourself not to it sucked into every new hyped up product. Learn to enjoy the equipment you already invested in. Every few months a new IEM comes out but is supposedly groundbreaking. If there is good as everyone says they will stay good and you don't need to keep chasing new ones. If anything you can find good deals on stuff that was hyped up a few years ago and is no longer being actively marketed.
@Daniel Alves Excellent choice with the Timeless. The Dauntless is a fantastic addition to any collection. Please don't give in to hype but make solid, wise decisions of gear that you know you want to try and are interested in but most important stay within your means. I haven't head the Hidizs S3 Pro, sorry.
@michael corcoran Nothing wrong with purchasing hyped gear if it is quality. I agree don't purchase every hyped product as a lot of them are just another IEM or headphone. Make wise and educated purchases and stay within your means. Thanks for the comment and the reminders.
dude that graph on their website scares the H out of me. How do you put out an IEM with everything below 200 Hz at or below the 800Hz energy level? That is about 5-9db below the Harman Curve in that region. As to the tonality, it would seem if you aren't elevating bass at all under 200Hz relative to 800Hz, there is no possiblity of muddying or interfering with those mids, right? I'll bet if we all EQ and reduce energy under 200Hz by 5-9Hz, the mids will clear up like crystal!
Ya that graph looks a lil rough, not sure how accurate it is. What’s more concerning than the bass is that 5khz peak which is ultra cringe, followed by what seems like a steep rolloff and then some other various spikes and dips in the upper treble. The lower bass is relatively “neutral”(I call BS on anyone who can truly “hear” below 30hz but that 800hz bump is strange!
Harman target is slightly bass-boosted and v-shaped, not the best tuning out there. The bigger issue I see with these (at least according to that graph) is upper mid range boost and spiky treble.
@the Honest Audiophile you said the same and I got the etymotic xr2 and Jesus. The lack of bass and volume to the point that from my 46 iem. The etymotic I never use. Great mids. And treble. That's about it. The rest lacks.
Just looked at the frequency response graph... abrupt sub bass roll off at 40 hz!!! I can not, I need sub bass at least a flat line. Also, the low mid boost looks weird to me.
