Quite late, but do you know how I can make the built in mic of this iem to work with my laptop? My laptop has a combo jack but it is unable to detect the microphone. Thank you!
@@TheHonestAudiophile As comparison, I have only the RME ADI 2 DAC FS , never had tubes. Do you have ( or did you ) the RME ADI 2 DAC FS, as comparison ? Thank you, again
Cuidado com os produtos da Fosi. Já vi que eles não entregam a potência anunciada. Já vi medições que não dizem o que a Fosi indica em alguns produtos.
I would really like to compare them to Sennheiser's IE600. I know much different price but i really liked the Shozy P20. Sadly my pair had a little defect. Returned them and will order again. They sound good. Do you have other recommendations for a warm/dark bassy IEM?
I have the DT880 600 ohm version. Should i get this or do i need something stronger? Any suggestions would be great! Thank you for the video, great information
@@TheHonestAudiophile thank you for the response! I guess i continue my research. What do you use to power yours? Any suggestions in a higher price range (150-200?
@petarvelkov7525 To be honest, I don't listen to them often. To power them I use the Mytek Liberty THX HPA and Fiio K19. If I use them on my Tor Audio Roger I run a preamp into it for extra power.
How are these for trance, rock/metal, pop, electronica, classical ect... ? I listen to a wide range of genres. I like detailed, wide, punchy and a little warm sound. It must be enganging and musical. Not Fatigue. And of course comfortable. The most comfort iems ive had, is the beyerdynamic xelento. A good iem. But to pricey
I searched for opinions on this iems before buying them, watched a couple and 5/6 were good impressions so I decided to buy them now that they have benn shipped I found your review, so sad I didn't find it earlier, I guess I'll just have to check them and hope nothing of this really disturb me a lot, thanks for you video.
Hi Dave.. Considering that you have also done a review on Etymotic ER2XR before, how would Alba compare to ER2XR in terms of detail retrieval, tonality, instrument separation.. Which one would you pick?
Alba has better bass extension, impact and control. The mids aren't as forward as the ER2XR. Treble is more extended and airy. The soundstage is wider, deeper and better layered. The ER2XR is more mid forward focused and not as balanced. The Alba has a slight advantage with detail retrieval and resolution. Tone and timbre is similar.
I received them this june, actually I did receive 2 sets of different batches (one purchased in feb2024 and one I brought new in june). The sound of the june model (ref B-xxxx) does come a bit more layered in the midbass and less rumbly in the subbass. It's perceid as more technical and analytical (kilobuck sounding to me as I'm not used that layering all across the board). The one from Feb2024 has more subbass perceived presence (+5% maybe) with a bit less midbass layering. This one got that subbass focus first time you listen them(it wont impact gaming). I don't know if this is due to driver burning or not. Midrange and treble seemed fine also I wasn't sure if I could pick up the technical differences with something like the sliivo SL41 but apparently there is some differences and added nuances min the treble, in timbre and layering although depending on the audio it can be marginal. Having to return one set I decided to let go of the earlier batch. (ref A-xxxx something)
Thanks for the Video. Have you tried using an external USB-C Power with the USB Microphones and Dongles encase the Phone's USB Port is under powered? I have a RealMe Phone with 3.5mm, but using a USB Dongle is a pain as the OTG Capabilities Automatically Turn Off after you stop playing music for 5min. You then have to trawl through the settings to reinitialise. A proper pain. Thankfully I now own a FiiO M11 Plus which solves the issues...
I really liked the pleasant sunrise analogy. It sounds like the Alba is an exceptionally pleasant IEM to listen to. Thank you for the review. I am curious. Do you think that the Alba might be a direct upgrade path for those who really like the overall tuning of the Kiwi Ears Cadenza? I ask since some people prefer single DD IEMs in order to avoid any BA timbre issues.
Thank you for comparing to Advar. I think more reviews would benefit from going beyond price brackets. Oftentimes those comparisons are more than warranted in this funny hobby of ours. Between Alba and Advar, which had the most preferable, realistic vocals?
My CKLVX D41 is out on loan to another reviewer so I can't do a direct comparison. Going off memory, the D41 very similar to the Alba but isn't quite as detailed and resolving.
I Only watch the video because he took time to make it, rather than lame and similar reviews. This could have been much interesting if he had included other veriations, but I'm satisfied. It was a great review
Hey Dave! I am on a hunt for an affordable (under $200 would be best, but i could stretch to $300) pair of cans for competitive gaming. I am going to be in a noisy environment with a roommate, so I would like the headphones to isolate noise well, but also offer a great soundstage with good imaging to hear footsteps and identify them directionally. I am going to be coming from the Phillips SHP9500s, and I love them but they are open and don’t block any sound whatsoever. Your input would be really valuable to me, thanks in advance and keep the good reviews up!
Keep in mind I don't game much anymore and I play sports ans racing games for the most part. To be honest, I mostly use IEM for gaming. The over ear closed back headphone I do use sometimes for gaming is the Rode NTH-100.
Thank you Dave! Great review as always. When this iem popped up on reviews and promotions from sellers, I went with the flow ( can't afford the Empyrian) but do like the Meze sound. Still rock my old 99 headphones. As you are reviewing, it is making my decision to have ordered early feel like I did a good thing. Thanks again😅
