I'm just curious if all Kousa Dogwoods are native to China? I know you said repeatedly "our native dogwood" but which varieties were you referencing? I do love the fact the China version can take full sun. People seem to keep them in the shade here. I do know a Cherokee Cheif and a Cherokee Princess are both varieties which can be grown at a high 5 zone within Missouri.
It's recommended not to plant trees near your foundation. Especially a dogwood. Tree roots are as long as the tree is tall. So I'd recommend avoiding planting on a corner bed of your house and remain a good 15ft away. Proper watering will ensure your roots travel deeper into the earth instead of near the surface.
@@ddunn9787 glad i saw your comment. I bought one and was considering planting it 8' from the driveway. You think branches would hang over driveway at that distance?
@@lorrainegatanianhits8331 thanks i planted it but the nonstop heat wave has turned all leaves half brown and most fell. but new set of leaves have just started budding all over where leaves fell off. What do you think? What should i expect moving forward into fall winter & next year ? I though she was done. Thank you very much
