I think this new style worked perfectly for these last two tournaments, where the winners and top placements weren't the main part of the story and other aspects could get more attention. I think much bigger tournaments that have much more weight to them might work better with the old format, so there's more build up to the winner of a massive tournament, but I think both styles have their places! Great videos as always though, I'll probably watch whatever you make since it's always good lol

Nyonoknb is known as previous tag mattsun who is cloud prodigy in smash4 when he is 14yo. He returned smash scene recently.

So, this is the 2nd video of the new style that I'm experimenting with. And now that I've gotten the hang of it, It took just a little bit longer than my usual style. I think I'll be able to cut it down even more with experience. The main feedback I've been receiving is to do the 7th place finishers first and THEN go up to 1st place. But I actually don't like this idea for a few reasons. 1. This kinda gives the non-top 8 stories the short stick. What, should I do them FIRST, and then head into the top 8? Or save them for after the top 8? Either way, they feel out of place. But I also wanna include them because this style is MORE than just a top 8 recap, it's recapping the entire bracket. 2. I'm not trying to build up suspense of any kind, or hide who won the tournament until the very end. That's something I did in my previous format, not this one. This format needs me to cover the MOST important things first in order to sustain viewer retention. If I started off by just talking about minor, solitary upsets, no one would still be watching by the time we actually got to the top 8. At least, no new viewers, which is who I'm trying to reel in. I'm going over topics in the order of importance and relevance, not in a storytelling sense. with that said, please DO give me feedback. I wanna hear as much as I can.

Great work as always! Personally, I find the chronological approach of going from 7th to 1st more compelling. It feels like watching a story unfold as each match goes down. I think it helps viewer retention too. If one immediately knows the winner, they might not be inclined to stick around for the whole vid! Idk how smoothly this would gel with the rest of the video, but perhaps you could cover major upsets outside of top 8 right before grands? It’s like a mini interlude, they’d still feel important and viewers would have the result of grands to look forward to after. That said thanks for all the work you do man keep it up! Ultimately just do what you think is best because this format absolutely works as well

"no one would still be watching by the time we got to the top 8" Uhhh source? This sounds like speculation. And speculation your viewers are disagreeing with.

I still love this new format, I feel like it gives way more information of what kind of tournament it was and everything that happened. Also the kids bracket stuff is so adorable.

Okay, first I LOVE this format, very short and effective, keep up the good work :) And next, some funny shit happens during the Gluto vs Ryuoh set: First game: very close fight, it's going back and forth but finally Gluto wins Second game: they start by playing neutral, just moving around for an opening and... Gluto SD ? Wait he's standing up and he's asking something ? Oh, actually Glutonny has some japanese tag, he don't have his button mapping and so they restart game 2. So basicaly, Gluto beats Ryuoh game 1 without his own mapping and without realising it. MY MAN IS JUST DIFFERENT !

Personally I like the old format more only because I don’t get to catch these tournaments live so it’s cool to see the suspense and buildup from top 8 all the way to grands, and watching the sets with the awesome music choice is fire. Awesome vid tho, keep it up! 👍 🙌

Personally, I preferred the old ways of your tournament recaps. I think it was a good way of catching up without knowing immediately who was gonna win. The hype music with the sets highlights was very cool as well

For the correction, by Hurt being the one pmayer who could break the 4 horsemen meta you meant *Hurt, Light, Tweek, Shadic, Mkleo, Zomba and Shinymark.

Hey Rister, I am a big fan of the new style, but I do think that it may actually help viewer retention if you work your way up the bracket instead of down. TurnedDownForWalt does something similar to this for his melee tournament vids, and it comes off as really smooth. Regardless, I will never tire of your content bro. Keep up the good work!

Just my two cents but I think going from top 8 to the winner of the event would work better. Mainly watch these for recaps and 2 minutes in I feel spoiled of the big result. Makes the rest feel not worth watching now that the end result is known. Good quality as always though!

right off the bat, imo I dislike disclosing who won immediately. Personally speaking, part of the interest in watching recaps like yours (or trawling vods for top 8 or earlier) is in the suspense of seeing who might be continuing their run and who's going home (or at least to loser's). When you've already said the winner in the first 5 minutes, that instantly removes all the interest and suspense unless it's not immediately telling me the results of a favorite player of mine. Basically, my stance is please don't use this format. Go back to the original of top 8 to grands.

now that I've read his comment about it, I still mostly disagree. To my novice eyes, it seems like keeping upsets and non-top-8 notables in a separate video would do better for retention and new viewership (or even releasing that video FIRST and then doing top 8), but I don't know the numbers Rister sees. That being said, I think the suspense of not knowing who won and who didn't is still an integral part of the viewing experience, ESPECIALLY for people like me who for the most part can only get information about how tourneys go after they're already over. I obviously don't want you to take my singular anecdote as a reflection of the general audience (current and future), but I think that you should also be maintaining the same level of suspense and tension for us as there would be for those watching it live, at least in the days immediately after the event. Competitive events like this thrive on the storytelling just as much as they do the actual events that happen, and removing that in favor of what sounds like a simple info-dump imo makes the experience worse for all parties involved. I agree that placing the non-top-8 notables is a problem, though, one I unfortunately don't have a really good answer for beyond releasing that vid first before top 8. edit: I did see a comment about how this format could be for tourneys where the top players and winners aren't the main story, while the old format is used for the big events, and I think there's some merit there. I'm more on the side of being consistent so I don't really fully agree to that, but I do admit it's viable. Use this new format for when the expected winners/top 4 make it and there's more stories around the lower top 8 and the non-top-8 notables, and use the older one for either the big tourneys (Genesis, etc.) or for tourneys where there's a dramatic shake-up in what was projected for top 8.

I still believe that these days with all the Bayo experience Gluto got since the time it was a problem, that he would have no reason to fear a Bayo in his bracket. Last time I watched a Bloom Gluto set, it wasn't Gluto that was struggling. (outside maybe TamaP, who seems to be able to upset the top Japanese players)
