Hi Guys, there are some clarifications that I'd like to make. Earlier I've talked with someone who's much more knowledgable about the spectrums of support and other aspects that are related to it. After throughout discussions, I've realized that there are much more miscellaneous details that are needed to be considered when analyzing one's approach, and how it could lead to incompetencies of an objective vocal breakdown, in this case, Yuju's analysis. I'd like to deeply apologize for the misconception that I've created and to her fans who have been affected by it. I have no excuses, it was just straight up a terrible and negligent job on my part. I'm blurring out her part in the vid and hopefully I'll be able to make a corrected update for her soon. Thank you for your time and, stay safe.
@sbt_fern apparently she's still capable of bringing support up to C/C# it is her openness that's taken a huge hit like I’ve been mentioning, so I wouldn't say she's regaining her support because it is there more or less. So you can say her supported range without head voice is roughly G3/G#3 - C5/C#5. I'm still looking for more materials to see if she has indeed lost her E5s.
Wheein’s overall range and execution is definitely the most developed of the group. Solar’s the powerhouse, but I don’t think anyone argues that Wheein’s voice isn’t more well rounded. This is coming from someone with Solar as my bias and Wheein as a wrecker so love both girls!

When I say mamamoo and red velvet has the best vocalists, I'm not kidding. I hate how other stans kept on arguing with me. They really are the best of this gen. Mamamoo is the best vocal group with rv coming at second while rv got the best vocalist of 3rd gen and wheein/solar being second.
It's no surprise that they'll argue with you because most fans are toxic, especially in the bigger fandoms, they're close minded. I don't know much about rv and mamamoo but their main vocalist are really amazing especially wendy, the main vocalist of mamamoo and also seulgi because she's the main dancer and still such a great singer
when i first heard mamamoo i didnt realise much of wheeins vocal impact until I understood her importance on making others sound so good. she hits whistle notes and harmonizes in areas that are vital which brings the entire song and mamamoo together, as if her voice is centered around the group in a very strategic and sneaky way. its one thing to be a good singer but its another to make other vocalists sound better with your voice's capability. i think wheein is a very underrated singer and her voice is so unique.truly an amazing vocalist.
Yes, I was actually shocked to see her as the top vocal of MMM here because I always thought it was Solar since she gets so many important parts of their songs and is a belter. So I went to the comments to see what I’ve been missing and read up on Wheein. Great explanation!

@@krisuler7734 It was like several years ago (at the very least), then yea, Wheein would be the strongest, but since Wheein no longer has resonance and her support quality got a tad weaker (not bad nor weak, just not as good as it was before) due to her overly light approach/style and more consistent nasality, Solar is now the best vocalist of MAMAMOO. I would even argue that Hwasa is now or could be better than Wheein at this point of time.
@@thotspray415 I would say Wheein is still at the top for dance by far (she could be among the top of female dancers in the 3rd generation behind Momo/Seulgi). She doesn’t have the coordination and quality of support that she had in her prime anymore and her bad habits are more frequent, and I think Solar and even Hwasa (despite her inconsistency and also bad habits) edge her in those aspects now.
I think the reason why I like red velvet and mamamoo’s voice is because they are not always on ‘cute sides’ of voice that many kpop girl groups always use.

I very much believe that Wendy is so far the best Vocalist in Idol group, until i saw Ningning debut with Aespa. She’s definitely will surpass Wendy. After all that’s how world works, newer generation always surpass the older ones. Btw im a die hard Reveluv so hmu if u want to discuss about RV:)
My ult group is Mamamoo but I agree Wendy is still a better vocalist than my girls. She just sounds so healthy and unstrained. When The Rain Stops is a great song to do singing challenge with friends!

As expected wendy is top 1 and wheein top 2! The fact that 3 out of 4 mamamoo members are in the top 5 is just 🤯 I'm glad someone actually gives credit to how and incredible of a vocalist wheein is. She's literally an Ace and her dance is very powerful too, I hope people would stop sleeping on her. Love the list!
people always forget that singing high notes is not the only requirements to be a good vocalist, people always forgot Wendy when talking about vocals because most fans are always talking about the high notes not how good they are overall

I am so happy for mamamoo, they are so vocal, and we are not talking about just one member, but all of them (including Moonbyul even though she has not had so many vocal lines since she is the rapper)
The title track is so nice and loved her voice there though vocal-wise still nose-centered (her voice was centered around her nose for the most part with some noticeably nasal parts) and a tad light throughout the whole song (live performances probably will tell better). Can’t wait to listen to the b-sides. :) *EDIT: listened to second time with clearer ears lol.
I love both of them (Wheein’s my ult), but there’s also Taeyeon, Luna, Hyolyn (she was a monster in her peak lmao), Lina, and Ailee as well, but for 3rd generation, sure!

@@multifan6679 Oh KPOPVocalAnalysis has some really excellent and quite accurate vocal analyses (used to request them a lot when I first started out); I’m the most familiar with Wheein (since I stan MAMAMOO) and my own judgements of her as a vocalist are, more or less, like that from the analysis (though to be fair, I also used her analysis and other’s (other idols and analysts) to double check and verify my own judgements to see if I’m correct or not). What a shame that they’re not that active nowadays due to rabid fans of certain groups, but to be fair, there are not many genuine and raw vocal performances out there (no pitch correction, processing, etc.) to analyze from nowadays though Bada’s (and many other 1st gen’s and some 2nd gen’s) can stay where it’s at rn since I don’t think she’s that active nowadays.
Oh me too😩 I’ve always wondered what it’d be like if Wendy got to be in a group with girls who are around her level. We were so close to getting the Solar and Wendy collab back in Dec. 2019, but SBS🙄😤 anyways, I hope they can still do a collab for their birthday or something since it’s on the same day
I expected that Wendy is the best one out of the 3rd Gen vocalists but as expected Mamamoo is still the best vocal group. I really think Yuju deserves to rest in order for her to recover. I think some buddies are just being defensive but we all know during sunrise era that she showed the weaker side of her voice. But recently, with all of her covers and osts, she still shows that she has great technique and I’m excited for her future performances 🤩
I totally agree! I think Bighit/Source Music should give her a good long break so that she can return fully recovered. 2020 was a really hectic year for Gfriend, given the 3 comebacks. Though they have reduced the vocal load on Yuju, I hope they do not overexert Eunha.
I'm a buddy and kinda agree with that..I always heard that when I watch yuju's debut vs now of her singing..I feel/hear that there's somethings not right about her voice..she really needs a very long rest or hiatus so she can rest her voice..I notice too that ever since sunrise era her voice is changing

I've known that all vocalists from Mamamoo will rank high. They practically polished their instruments since forever. I am still sad with Yuju's regression, I hope she seeks coaching. But damn that one resonant F5, which I know is a fluke, is still amazing. But Wendy, my sweetheart, she kept improving throughout the years and it's amazing.
They all have beautiful voices, but honestly Wendy's is just superior, obviously is not perfect but so close to that, I've never heard her miss a tone, and her voice is always so clean and powerful. It sound exactly like the recording version. I love my Wendy ♡
Blackpink doesn't have the best vocal line and vocalist but I love how Jisoo's Voice compliments to Rosé. And as expected, Mamamoo are the best Vocal line Kpop and Wendy is the best Vocalist in 3rd Gen♥️
Yes I agree that bp members dont have that strong base in vocals, but they do have uniqe features that compliment each other, very nice fits. For wendy, her refreshing voice literally soothes every soul. And I’m also proud to be moomoos knowing my girls are in the top line for vocalist,please support them☺️

Taeyeon's vocal range is not even 3 octaves (her range is D3- C6, only 2 octave 5 notes)) but she can support more than 50% of her range Rosè's vocal range is quite big, i remember someone made her vocal range (her range is E3-F#6, it's 3 octave and 1 note) Rosè's vocal range is even wider than Taeyeon Her problems is her technique is quite under developed, her voice lose projection under Bb3, her belt is unstable because she squeezes her throath, that's unhealthy.... her support stop at G#4/A4, kinda bad for soprano vocalist. But i hope she works harder (Let me hope YG let her train her technique)

Its pretty amazing that Mamamoo have not 1, 2 but 3 vocalists at the top and regardless of ranking between the three of them - they also have their own unique tones and harmonise so well as four. Moonbyul is also a very decent vocalist and I hope she gets to continue to showcase it like she did last year and her covers!

I've heard a few of her perfs and to put it safe, her approach in general is quite shallow and she more often than not she would sing with some rapping habits that could include throat squeezing, mild growling and pushing, which is not a proper and healthy way to vocalize. This isn't to say Moonbyul is a bad singer or anything. Her sense of vocalizing is actually quite noticeable for a rapper and despite lack of advanced skillset, she knows how to make these weakness a bit less apparent. Overall, Moonbyul is a Mezzo who has had moments with relaxed approach and some connection but her breathing in general hasn't quite there yet to make her voice fully supported^^

It’s how low their voice sit. Yes Sopranos can sound full and deep but it could depend on their approach and usually would carry a different quality compared to lower fachs.
I'm so proud of seeing Wendy on top. But i feel sad for Joy. She told that she loves singing but she debuted with sub_vocalist. She showed her singing skills in king of mask singer, she sang many ost songs .I hope she will have more confident in her singing.
The funny thing is we have seen multiple times when she does collaboration stages with other idols, her voice stands out the most due to her having insanely clear and stable live vocals compared to the others ( it’s like we fans don’t appreciate RV vocals until we hear them sing along side other idols, that’s how we know their vocals are on a whole different level ), she also gives off the most purest fairy like tone too. That’s why she is known as a Queen that randomly steals the spotlight on special stages. Honestly really her vocals are severely underrated and that is such a shame, also her OST tracks are really something else

I'm not sad for Joy. In technique, she's not among the best of the best, but her voice is simply delightful. I love how soft and slightly nasal her voice is, and so airy... it feels like floating on the clouds.

Wendy is really a good singer. Her voice is full and vibrant. But there are some here that are not technical singers but emotional singers. But since this focus on technique, then you made a good video.
Random, but I wish Jinsoul, Hyunjin, and Yves would get vocally trained at least up to standard level. Their timbres are my favorite within the group, especially Jinsoul. They’d all sound so gorgeous with actual technique 😩
I would love to see the 4th generation edition. I'm so excited with aespa, bvndit, stayc and purple kiss. Though it would also be hard to get to the 3rd gen level
MAMAMOO’s junior, PURPLE KISS will debut on 15 March! Their vocals are crazy especially the main vocal Swan & Na Goeun. I could say that they’re top 4th gen vocalists along with NingNing from aespa.

I couldn't agree more to this video. I mean, before even the video started, I knew Mamamoo would top the list. Well, I admit Wendy is the first, tho. But as a group, let's all agree that Mamamoo got this. They're really comfortable in singing live, and I guess they have the most (in quantity and ofc, quality) live singing broadcast of all these idols. A proud Moomoo here!

When I read everyone saying GOT is coming and that the lineup was too strong, I was like 'shit, aespa are still rookies and sm is debuting another group that is probably stronger than them 😭😭' I got scared for them. Then when I realized that it is like a girl version of sperM I got calmed, and then started shouting again because THE LINEUP IS SO POWERFUL LIKE WTF. How are you going to put BoA, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Seulgi, Wendy, Karina and Winter in the same group?? There you already have 3 top tier dancers and 2 top tier vocalists, and the rest are at least average for every category (except hyoyeon in vocals and taeyeon in dancing)

Even though vocally average, TWICE are kinda vocally underrated. Their songs are usually vocally challenging that's why they always struggle in performing.
That's true, just don't compare them to RV, MMM, SNSD, they are quite solid, honestly. Aside from their songs that doesn't fit to their technique, MR Remove videos that took off before made a lot claims that their vocal-line is the worst.
Personally, Twice songs aren't vocally challenging. I can sing their song with pitch perfect. I am a kinds trained singer that's why I it's easy for me.
it’s kinda funny when you think about the differences in the higher tiers of vocalists. solar is considered one of the best idol singers, which is true, but when compared to wendy, the difference is pretty staggering. wendy having a more developed and healthy mix, even without as consistent resonance, considerably better lows, much better agility, and an actual existing head voice that’s developed. gets even crazier when there’s still vocalists like luna, etc.
capable is already a good benchmark for idol vocalists tbh. people above that are just beast in vocals. it's not easy to earn nor build technique so we gotta applaud them for that
I find it funny that people are complaining about how sub par the vocals of current girls planet top 9 are while doing virtually nothing to promote the better vocalists or even vote for the cell they were in. Individual votes mean nothing if you don’t vote for the cell too.
As a huge fan of Wendy, I'd also like to give love to some other vocalists that I think should be appreciated more by international fans. In this list, I like Wheein, Sejeong and Seunghee's vocals too. Wheein has the kind of tone you'd like to listen to, the hoarseness of her voice sounds so good. I think she's my favorite vocalist in mamamoo. And Seunghee, I'm not really familiar with oh my girls. I first heard of her vocals during the Christmas special collab "All I want for Christmas is You" and although, she only had short lines in there, her vocal quality is applaudable. It's noticable she can show so much more. Sejeong's tone sounds good most especially in OST. It can get too deep that it sounds dreamy, ballad is her strength, she's good at it.

I think there is a difference between a singer and a vocalist. vocalist is the pure technical side, and singer is the capacity to sing with emotion, taking also account the vocal tone, etc... Minnie, Siyeon for example, are to me weak as vocalist but very good singers!
not surprised with wendy topping the list, sm banks a lot on vocals but mamamoo vocal line specially wheein is just too special to miss, her voice is so versatile.
I love her voice and it’s my most favorite in the group too! Unfortunately, it’s not as good as before (Solar and maybe Hwasa are now better than her), but nonetheless, I just love how her voice adds in the delicacy, lightness, and soft edge in their songs.

i thought i was the only one who noticed yuju’s change in singing :/ it kinda sucks, because it could be due to many things. i hope she’s taking care of her own health, and that maybe one day she could bounce back, but outside factors could be harming her voice too. her voice used to be much fuller and more round, and her resonance was more amplified. i’m wondering if this is a result of her tackling the most vocally challenging parts in gfriend’s songs, and consistently trying to live up to the title of being a “powerhouse vocalist”. even with good technique, your voice can actually give in with so much singing :/ she’s still pretty good at singing, but i hope she at least stays where she is now if she doesn’t bounce back to where she was
Yeah I think the fact that she was constantly hitting those upper belts F5 G5 live might play a part in wearing down her vocal cords more or less. Don't know why fans keep encouraging such excessive high notes.

Mamamoo is one of the most balanced groups in kpop. They are the best vocal group in 3rd generation, Moonbyul is one of the best rappers in 3rd generation and they are pretty good in dancing, specially Wheein. I really admire them.
