can we agree that pretty much every SM release has aged like fine wine. I swear every time I listen to the song it just gets better and better even if I’ve listened to it for like four or five years
I can’t help but feel most of 2nd gen songs aged like fine wine for me. There was something magical about songs back then. And all the groups had such a distinct sound. Similarly, early 3rd gen songs too aged like fine wine-2012-2016 songs mainly. And many many NCT songs aged really well for me. I miss Firetruck a lot! It’s like, with most 127 title tracks, you should listen to them a few years after their release. Then you will become the biggest fan of those songs.
Survivorship bias. You may remember 100 songs from those gens, but you've probably forgotten 100x as many as that. People used to say those things about Gen 3 once upon a time, but when Gen 4 hit, suddenly there was nothing but praise for the previous gen. Once Gen 5 eventually hits, people will do the same with Gen 4. It's a never-ending cycle.
SNSD, F(x), Wonder Girls and Ladies' Code music still holds up so well even in modern K-Pop the whole rewind album and healing duo albums from LC just have aged so well to me
Honestly most 2nd Gen ggs have immaculate title tracks; SNSD, 2NE1, Wonder Girls, Brown Eyed Girls, KARA, T-ARA, Miss A, 2NE1, Secret, After School, f(x), SISTAR, 4Minute… you can really feel the “quantity over quality” way things are nowadays when like 50+ groups are using the same half dozen producers.
Isn't it kind of behind its time? It sounds a lot like a SHINee song. And I'm far from the first person to say so. Don't get me wrong, Superhuman is one of my absolute favourite songs of all time - not just from among NCT's works, not just in kpop, but it terms of _all_ songs - I just dislike inaccurate statements
I say ahead of it's time because I think the song sounds so futuristic and done right, production value is off the charts, and aespa been dapping on this futuristic style a lot as of late and look how it's paying off rn
so many of these are my favorite title tracks from these groups. also omg beautiful by monsta x has to be one of my fave kpop title tracks ever. the line distribution in that song is horrendous but it's SO good. maybe one day they'll re-record it with a better line distribution, idk, probably not but a girl can dream.
bad boy by red velvet went from amazing to getting boring (because of listening too much) then after a while it HIT and bad boy became THAT song. god that song is a rollercoaster in terms of likability but I love it sm
It was really popular when it came out though? Songs by solo artists never generate the same kinds of numbers as group songs do, so you shouldn't compare them
not a single miss on this video. shocked and delighted to see some serious second gen deep cuts (especially you make me crazy) but 1 of 1 showing up on here had my shawol ass grinning and hugging myself. rip jonghyun, i still miss you.
I could agree with you, but I believe what takes a song to "age" is the fact that some periods in music are very distinctive from the time it was made. In the 2010s in the west we had the eletropop autotuned era (in kpop this moment was remarkable with I am the Best by 2ne1), we had the pop songs with horns (Very Nice by Seventeen), the tropical house era (4 walls by F(x)), the trap pop/r&b (Go go by BTS), the reggaeton and now the synthpop/disco pop, trend comes and goes so i can't really assure. But there so much kpop songs that sounds absolutely typical from the time it was made. Some others doesn't. That's quite interesting tho.
@@ellaisfearless8618 You're very right. Kpop has very distinct sounds between years. That's why it's often those songs that break away from the majority that manage to avoid getting dated and gain longevity. But since they aren't following the trend, it's hard for them to get popular in the first place. In the end, there has to be some balance - trendy enough to appeal to the current audience, but unique enough to appeal to future audiences. There's also the songs that begin waves of a style instead of following them. Despite them being typical to the era, people remember them fondly because they were the "og". Also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think it's a bad thing for songs to stay within the trends. It's not a sin to enjoy the moment to its fullest. And if that era was important to you , e.g. if you were in your teens at the time, then listening to those "outdated" songs can be very nostalgic. As much as I like most of the songs in this video, the ones that create the strongest sensations within me are still the ones that I was listening to as a kpop newbie in my high school years. Not to mention that it can be really hard for groups without a solid fanbase to succeed without first conforming. It's hard to plan for the future when even your present is uncertain, after all.
I melt with each song. Whatever people say, kpop is an amazing genre full of diversity and it’s so easy to create precious memories on each song. The memories of my whole youth will be encapsulated in the longest kpop playlist ever, probably.
nearly everything by kara and infinite still hit. god bless their longtime shared producer sweetune. the chaser may be one of the best kpop songs ever tbh
9muses and Ladies' code have amazing discographies! I started listening to kpop in January this year and they're among my very favourites, so I guess this kinda proves your title right 😁
it baffles me again and again how 2NE1 was the biggest 2nd gen gg next to girls generation, yet nobody acknowledges their existence 😢 i love you and come back home deserve a spot on this list
They don't have BIGBANG here either. They left a reply to another comment and said it's because they haven't really listened to any of their songs. Gen 2 YG style just might not be to their taste? I don't think that's unreasonable to assume
You are naming my favorite songs of all time in K-pop. I’m losing my damn mind watching this video. Some things I forgot about, and I am definitely going to go check them out again after this video. I’m just so surprised. I feel crazy right now. Thank you so much!
“Odd Eye Circle” or “Star” sit a bit higher for me. Is _LOONA_ still a group? I thought the whole Chuu leaving and salary scandal-boycott may have ended things.
@@sittingstill3578 odd eye circle signed under triples's company (ruled by the one that worked on loona's concept), the real problem is that 5 members didn't win the lawsuit and are still under BBC
pls I'm like a year late but I didn't see any comments for Levanter and I'm sorry but IMO it's their best title track even up to this day, it's pure gold
OH MY GOD im coming out of the void of no comments to say that you. you get it. top tier selection. this is literally my taste in kpop give and take a few nugus. I'm so happy i didn't have to compile my playlists myself. some extra fav recs: Heize- shes fine, dalsooobin- katchup , minseo- is who, (jp) Wednesday campanella- melos, (cn) akini jing- Don't Wanna Be Alone
Bad Boy is still my favorite RV song. It and Automatic are so perfect. EXO Monster is still my top ten gym songs, WINNER Really Really is a must-play while driving windoes down. All these songs are timeless
I don't think we can call a song less than 10 years aged cause the sounds are still smilar or almost same. So I think the most deserving one here is Shinhwa's Perfect Man. It was the song that popped up in my brain the moment I read the title. Other than that I thought you would include songs like BoA's Only One, TVXQ Mirotic/Catch Me, B2st Fiction, Infinite Paradise... Even now, even with teen reactors I've never seen any one dislike these songs for find them old.
I still remember seeing some armys saying it was a song EXO would release and I was so offended because it definitely wasn't and because it was a good song overall. I never understood why people didn't like it.
I have so many good memories from that era and I replayed that song 2x a day for a month straight after it was released hahah i didn’t get the hate at all 😅
@@rosietales What? It doesn't sound like something EXO would release at all though??? Sure, it was different from works that BTS had released before it, but you could still very much see their distinct style in it, especially in the lyrics as well as the overall concept of the album trilogy that DNA was part of
@@peachsol Same! My final year of secondary had just started when it was released. The school's wifi often worked terribly (especially for videos), so I'd usually spend my breaks on one of the library computers, listening to DNA and other BTS songs, voting for awards, chatting with other ARMYs, etc. They even played DNA a couple of times over the PA (they'd play songs when it was almost time for class as a reminder); I was ecstatic. Super fond memories
I am legit so impressed at this video! With the exception of 1 song that's not my favorite (its not bad), I can actually say I agree for all of these songs that they still sound good! I don't think I've ever agreed so much with one of these kinds of videos before.
