Those Kraft dice actually looked really cool, nice colours, I would have saved just the dice for my personal collection and lied about where I got them from.
Amazingly this game designer won a Tagie award for excellence in game design from the Toy and Game Inventors Expo for her work over the past 20 years according to BGG.
Tom, if you haven't already thrown them out, donate those to a local nursing home. They feature components and pictures that people with dementia will recognize. They can't follow rules of games in many cases.
@@mrguy561 - Not many, and they are wildly expensive. Especially when you think about how prone dementia people are to moving objects. Putting random items in a purse,, stuff like that.. Prior to the pandemic FIL went to adult daycare a couple of days a week. He lives with us. Here, he likes to watch Jenga. And we play candy land, but its getting harder. We play with blockus, but we just make patterns. He can't understand hiw Carcassonne tiles are placed anymore. We weren't actually playing, just building roads and cities.
I think this is one of my favourite reviews. My son was saying a couple of days ago that Tom only does positive reviews and I was going to show him one of the "six bad game" reviews. Not any more!
Thanks for possibly keeping me from getting a bad gift in a month! I love games and I've consumed more Heinz, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and Jello than I'd care to admit. I'm sure some caring relative would see this 'product' on a shelf somewhere and think they're being ultra clever by getting me this for Christmas (he likes games a lot...he likes these American food staples a little more...it is cheap enough...win-win they're thinking). Can you imagine how awkward it would be trying to get through a round of any of these on Christmas day? Precious time with loved ones wasted while Ticket to Ride is just sitting on the shelf laughing knowing it will be played in a few minutes.
I needed this today! Tom, you are the best! " it looks like ketchup this is the only positive thing I can say!" I'm still laughing. I think you are generous with them spending 3 seconds on these games lol.
Who's here after Tom said not to watch this one during "this week in review"? Do you think Tom played this enough lol? Tom, after 7 plays the strategy really gets deep :) This made me laugh a few times
Well played on the video description! Glad I hit the Show More Tom Vasel takes a look at at a food themed game pack. Don't waste your time with this video... Intro 0:00 Trash 0:54 Garbage 1:09 Waste 5:31
OH wow!! LOL, I feel so bad for Tom having to learn these games but man, I have to admit, this is one of the most entertaining review videos on the channel! LOL
If I would ever burn out on the excitement of Tenzi or the 77 ways to play Tenzi I might actually consider picking this up, but the way it is I am afraid to be overwhelmed with the decision process of which to choose for a funny family torture....
FINALLY! Another Tom Vasel HATES the game review. I'm so happy. =) Love to see another fun "This game sucks!" vid. Also check out Oneupsmanship and Mr. Game
I wonder why it's not more common to just buy the license or rights to use the mechanics of a hobby boardgame if you don't want to do Heinz Monopoly or whatever? I would probably try Frito Lay Love Letter.
I found this sort of humorous. It made me think about how game designers/publishers will pay to use an IP for their theme, because the IP adds perceived value to the consumer. What you were suggesting was for the holder of the product's IP to pay the designer instead, because the IP is taking value away instead of adding any. Not looking forward to Heinz 57 Rage. :)
This is utterly brilliant. Enjoyed this so much. Just what you need on a meh day. Tom should do more of these. You cannot just review “good” games. Doing a bad review gives a reviewer credibility in my opinion.
I looked up the publisher, their other "games" might actually be equally bad, it's amazing. They have one which is essentially "lip reading" where you just put a magnifier in front of your mouth and read a word from a card.
I bought this purely to put on my game shelf and people to ask why I have ketchup/jello/mac n cheese on my game shelf. On a serious note, though, I passed this in the store and had no idea it was a game pack. Literally was being displayed by food during super bowl and I thought it had to do with super bowl like "Oh ok you can buy a combo pack of super bowl essentials at a discount price."
Played this with my aunt and uncle. This game had no point this would wouldn’t even keep a toddler entertained for long! My aunt said “where is my refund”!!
so i hovered my cursor over the video preview and saw the look of disappointment on Tom's face even there. Straight away clicked knowing I was in for a solid rant. Got the popcorn and Hatorade ready>>>> Let's Do This Tom! oh and cheers for taking one for the Team mate Edit: Finished the review, loved the enthusiasm haha. This game pack reminds of something Tom said many years ago in i think the 'Top Tips for Game Designers'. He said something on the lines of "Don't do what those big Corporations do and try make a Game for the sake of a trend. Just make a Good Game." and this is an example of a cash grab by major corporations trying to cash in on the 'boardgaming trend'. Not saying all large corporations will suck at game design, but This is an example of games that do fall into that class of design. Baffles me that their 'inhouse designer' couldn't be bothered to have fun playing boardgames and inspire a fun game to incoroporate those brands into. I mean surely their paycheck was large enough, especially when there are many designers out there that Design from their own pocket for Fun and Passion and don't care if they make a profit when they publish their game. They design because they would have anyway regardless of the trend/money.
I suspect you could just buy the food items included for a much cheaper price and then have both the food and the items used for the game. It may or may not be a bonus, but it seems like a better idea than buying the game.
Please tell me that you at least kept the dice from the Mac n Cheese game. Now I am dreading that someone is going to get this for me as a gift because I like to play games.
Ninja Dice is amazing shelf dressing, and a genuinely fun push your luck dice game that has less downtime than most, and is pretty fun. It becomes better with the mission cards that adds a bit of mitigation to rolling the house dice, and a slight catch up mechanism. Honestly, I recommend it to EVERY gamer since it makes a great curio to sit on a shelf away from the game collection (especially if you play on the idea that the Ninja Dice case (a foam cubed shaped dice bag) is trying to make an escape!)
"*sigh*.....whatever....here we go." LOL. Oh Tom, I don't know why it makes me laugh so much when you get so dejected. I guess because you're always upbeat and positive about board games....even if they're zombie games! Never change. :)
The macaroni components could have made a proper game. Ante Up. Player whos turn it is lays down a card. Everyone around the table makes the design shown on the card (if you don't have enough macaroni too bad) First one to make the design wins the pot. As the dinosaur round tracker moves up, you can no longer play cards of lower value. Once someone cannot play cards, game over - count your macaroni. Richest player wins.
