Kratom ban news- DEA announcement, detox, withdrawal talk. Kratom listed as schedule one drug.
Simple people have simple opinions. I have no such luxury. This is a complex issue and so my thoughts and feelings are not so cut and dried, but more reflective of those complexities including the benefits vs. dangers, risk/reward etc. I can't help you If you wish to be angry with me for pointing out facts. Like the fact that all people respond differently to this plant and that some have little or no problem while for others, it is in fact a VERY ADDICTIVE substance that binds to opioid receptors in the brain and can (in spite of a lot of what is published on the internet) create very real problems and dangers. Just like alcohol however, I think it should be legal and available to adults who should make their own choices.
Just to be clear, in this video I do not say that I agree with the ban, I in fact said that "...I am very sorry for those people who are using it for pain and will no longer have access".
I never expected to become addicted to what I was told was a harmless, non- addictive herb. I did a I am stunned at how tough and prolonged the withdrawal period has been. After 10 days with symptoms like shortness of breath, depression, restless leg syndrome, dry mouth, dry cough, I am just starting to feel like I'm getting better.
That being said. I am very sorry for those who have been using this successfully to treat chronic pain who will no longer be able to legally purchase it. I feel that this is another travesty and over reach by our government.

legal drugs are more addictive than this herb. How many people have died from smoking? How many people have died from drunken driving? Legal painkillers? Are they making those things illegal? Hell no!😣 So hypocritical and typical.

***** They are certainly relevant when the DEA is making this a schedule 1 drug for little evidence of harm and those other drugs are WAY more harmful but are legal. Its all about the money as usual. You need to do some research buddy.

***** How do you know I haven't done research? I know this can become addictive if you use it too much, but like I said its not as harmful as cigarettes and alcohol. They are just demonizing it because people are skipping Big Pharma and their deathly cocktails.

I am a huge kratom supporter, even so much that I always donate money to the American Kratom Association, but, I have to tell you, i have had some withdrawls from kratom as well. I did abuse it though, it has its place in people's herbal storage, but people really need to know that it can be addicting. A side note, I have been using it every day for around 5 years. So, that is also part of the problem. I do NOT agree with the DEA ruling though. It is ludicrous

I have never had withdrawal from kratom. I grow them (grew them I guess, soon) and munch a leaf or two when my back goes out and I'm yelping in pain. It works well and doesn't make me sleepy or dopey like the pills that offer the same level of relief. I am sad that I have to get rid of my plants that have helped me. I am not sure why I don't have the right to grow and eat whatever I want when I am in pain. Why don't I have the right to make my own medical decisions? 10 grams a day is 40 leaves or more I can't even imagine munching that many leaves... they are so bitter! Schedule 1 drug means that there is no medical use, only abuse. I have never abused it once. Kratom is just a nice tree that I thought would be handy to always have around... and it has been. Every neighborhood should have a tree that people who are in pain can munch on if it would help them.

@bizzle187
@bizzle187 8 лет назад
sticrzy123 Just because a substance doesn't show up in a drug panel test, does not mean it isn't an opioid. It is active at 2 different opioid receptors. That makes it an opioid. Any substance that does this is classified as an opioid, not to be confused with an opiate like oxycontin or fentanyl. Don't take my word for it though, or this guy's.. do some research on Google. This information is readily available.

GROW THE HELL UP AND ACCEPT RESPONSINILITY FOR YOUR addictive behavior. instead of being a grown man in his 50s whos blaming a natural erb for a lil bit of inconvience wahhhhhh... smh for every isolated incident like this. THERES 50 CASES of how it helped REAL ADDICTS. completely curb and change their life. just like every other elder white man whos been given the world on a platter that cries everytime life throws you a curbyou have to make it a priority to use your voice to demonize others who actually struggle. this video serves no purpose. people are going to die and get back into heavy addiction because of your cry baby victim white privedged way of dealing with life. delete this video

I'll tell you. A lot of people stay off heroin with kratom. Kratom isn't like heroin, but it curbs withdrawal, and cravings. Those people have a high chance of going back to heroin. Others who use kratom to control chronic pain will be put back on opiates because there's no other choice. 13k people died in 2016 alone from PRESCRIBED pain pills. People will die from this ban.

+chris kozub kratom is a mild pain reliever compared to opiate prescription pain meds with far fewer side effects. Pharmaceutical opiate pain pills, in comparison, are much more addictive with serious and dangerous side effects. Kratom is the only pain medicine that I have ever found that cuts the pain effectively without making me sleepy or dopey. You want me to have to take dangerous super-addictive prescription medicines that kill thousands of people every year when there is a better alternative that is safer and more effective? You, sir, have evil ideas.
@ejisyopicus8988

First off, kratom is not an opiate, so don't be upset when people say "it's not an opiate" Second off, you do have a "druggy personality" if you found yourself addicted to kratom.

Not even close, Kratom is an opioid, science wins. That's why it works for opioid withdrawal, that is why it works for pain, and for some, that is why it causes dependency. I'm not for a ban on kratom, but it is, what it is.

some of us need to be medicated regularly for the rest of our lives. kratom is much better medication than Big Pharma's "solution." So you had some restless leg when you didn't have it. I take 5-10 grams a day and my dosage has never varied from that. withdrawals are mild compared to actual opiates. side effects are rare and mild. I'd rather be dependent on kratom than on Oxycodone. any day and every day.

Kratom literally saved my life from the grips of licensed drug dealers with white coats and degrees. After 3 years on suboxone after a 15 yeah H habit, Kratom took away all of my withdrawals when I came off the subs and I was able to function normally. Now one year later I am off the Kratom and have my life back...and the withdrawal from kratom is like the withdrawal from coffee if you slowly taper down. Bottom line with the DEA and government: If you heal a customer, you lose a customer. Greedy sick bastards!

What does that have to do directly with withdrawls? You've clearly never had serious caffeine withdrawl, or should we take your anecdote as gospel truth. Also what part about stating that he watched caffeine detox vids or asking a question is spreading misinformation? If you really think kratom is more dangerous than caffeine, totally disregarding ones core idea ideological views on civil liberties, than your pseudo altruistic bullshiting self can cite your sources. Kratom isn't coffee? No fucking shit, you know what else Kratom isn't, prescription opiates, I'll let you pubmed that one for yourself though bud. You're absolutely off your rockers.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I've been a kratom user for about 10 years, fixed at about 15-20 grams per day. Luckily, my 'detox' hasn't been that bad; I've simply been keeping a chart of my usage and over the last 4 days have dropped from my prior usage to about 3 grams per day. Quitting cold turkey from daily use is pretty horrible to be sure. Those using the extracts are in for the worst of it, but users who have only been consuming leaf, don't worry! Just be sure to slowly step down until you land in a good place. I've quit a few times over the years just to understand what is involved and I'm glad I did as this forced detox has been perfectly pleasant. Thanks again, Exoman, for your personal experience and hang in there!

Kratom stops me from having breathing issues from my afib. When I sleep I have trouble breathing but if I take kratom , my breathing becomes normal and can sleep without suffocating. It makes my heart rate go down to normal levels and stops my angina (chest pain).Kratom saved my life but now the DEA is condemning me to develop congestive heart failure.Kratom does not give my restless leg syndrome, in fact it stops my rls.If it doesn't work for you, don't take it, but for me it saved my life and now the DEA is condemning me to death.Historians condem hitler for killing the chronicle I'll, so now the DEA is supporting Hitler. Maybe we should start concentration camps next.Why is my own government punishing me for my chronic illnesses.

I suffer from multiple sources of chronic pain, and am a retired drug and alcohol counselor. My research indicated, right from the start, that there was good evidence that kratom was both psychologically and physiologically addictive. This man is right, there are huge individual differences in tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, and the specific conditions that produce addiction. They are called 'individual biochemical pathways.' And yes, I have a degree in biology. That said, kratom has helped me tremendously. I take 5 grams, twice or three times a week. The DEA, in my opinion, is just on the side of Big Pharma.

I was about to experiment with this drug as I just found about it on the news when they discussed the ban. I am on pain killers legally due to fibromyalgia, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and diabetic neuropathy. I am in severe pain and am becoming addicted to the pain killers. I don't smoke, drink or do illegal drugs by choice. I sincerely was looking at these hipster kids all singing the praises of kratom and so close to purchasing some before the deadline......thanks to your honest, heart felt warning...I will not try or buy it. those who use kratom, DO not use nicotine while using kratom. It makes the withdrawals that much worse. I don't know why, but nicotine boosts the effects of kratom. and when you start withdrawing from kratom, its way worse. i think kratom (for those who truly do need it) wouldn't be a bad behind the counter drug, but for the DEA to make it a schedule 1 drug is RIDICULOUS. might as well make coffee a schule 1 drug.. thanks for the video man, like you're doing, walking helps, and talking to others helps, also the withdrawals for me last 3 days, so i always look forward to the 3rd day haha I've used kratom, then quit it, then used it, then quit it, etc.. and every time I ask myself "why the heck are you using this garbage again" because for me, I don't use it responsibly i guess you could say. But the withdrawals do end, and you do get back to "normal" and your emotions level out. You'll be fine! even though it takes going to heck and back to get to that point, drink lots of water, stay busy, and eat more food than normal, it rebuilds you in some magic way haha good luck man! again, thanks for the video. it gave me motivation!

thank you so much for sharing your story. My story is almost identical. I'm in my mid-forties, and I'm a fireman. I hurt my back after falling off of a roof years ago and was dependent on opiate like pain pills until I heard about kratom. I started using it for pain relief and it worked. I never stopped taking it so I haven't experienced any withdrawals but now that it's becoming a schedule 1 narcotic I have started to wean myself off of it and even weaning I have found to be extremely difficult. I'm going to get down to about 1 gram per day and then stop completely. I wish I would have known all of the addiction possibilities of this product when I started taking it. there just wasn't enough information out there from people. needless to say I'm still in a lot of pain everyday and will need to find something else to help me get through daily life. good job with your detox and thanks again for sharing.

I've kicked a 20+ gram habit several times. I can't compare this to opiates because I will never touch them, but it wasn't so bad. I only took this for its anxiolytic effects and mood lifting effects. I was clean and free from the mild withdrawal symptoms less than 2 weeks later, more like ~1 week. Runny nose, low energy. I'm just sad that I wont be able to take this a couple days a week just to relax, like having a couple beers. Good luck and I hope you pull through.
@Smokinlikeamufucka

I'm not being mean at all, but I have to say I've been on real opiates and Kratom and came off both several times. Kratom withdrawals are Child's Play compared to real opiates. although I have never used massive doses like I've seen some people say that they have. I used both for pain management. I say if you need to get off it get off, if you need to use it use it. I am withdrawing right now because of the ban and I'm washing my truck. only a slight discomfort similar to caffeine withdrawal. I could have never wash my truck while trying to come off of real opiates. now my problem however lies in the government telling grown people what they can and can't do with their bodies. of course their reasoning is a pharmaceutical Lobby control system, and they tell us it is to save lives yet the sale of alcohol is perfectly legal. we lose more and more freedom everyday and as a Libertarian I am sick of it. good luck to all you guys, I hope your future is brighter.
@ejisyopicus8988
@ejisyopicus8988 8 лет назад
Well Gregory, if you go back to opiates once the schedule 1 comes into effect, I think you'll realize if you think kratom was "extremely difficult" to come off of, then real opiates will be impossible for you to come off. I'd be cautious about getting prescriptions for opiates because unlike kratom, people that think kratom is "extremely difficult" to stop using, won't be able to willingly stop using opiates, heck, you would probably find it nearly impossible to stop using codeine.

thank you everyone for your replies and your comments. I think there should be some regulation on kratom, but not made illegal. I think it should be prescribed by physicians and used in clinical detox situations. I'm just saying that it's not a non-addictive drug, or plant. what I'm trying to tell people is for me coming off of Kratom was a horrible experience, and all of the research I did prior to taking kratom didn't inform me of the addiction possibilities. I think with regulation and education to our physicians it could be used in a very responsible way to help people with opiate addictions and chronic pain.

I owe my lively hood to this stuff and it's a shame others won't have the help I got from kratom. I'll say it again I owe my job, friends, family, and life on this plant

@barackhusseinobamaisamusli6062
pywindmillz Heroin?! Chuckle. Not even close. First of all heroin is an opiate. Kratom is NOT! Kratom which is really called mitragyna speciosa is a plant. It is a safe alternative to dangerous & highly addictive pharmaceutical drugs like oxycodone, morphine, hydromorphone & hydrocodone. It is also a safe alternative to dangerous anti depressant pharmaceutical drugs. Big Pharma's sh*ty & dangerous drugs can NOT compete with what God created. So they want to ban it. Which would make it legal for thugs dressed in all black wearing black ski masks to kick in some old woman's door down at 3 in the morning then proceed to point fully automatic weapons at her head & yell at her to get the f*ck on the ground or we'll blow your f*cking head off! Of course if she doesn't move fast enough for these psychopath's then she will in fact get her head blown off! This Country is fast becoming a totalitarian police state! It's absolutely disgusting!

On the previous comments, please focus on what can help all of us. Exoman, thank you for sharing your experiences and troubles. You clearly have an understanding of some of the issues involved in this unprecedented decision by the DEA. As you know already, it has been a godsend for so many, and it takes great courage to describe what you have gone through. There have been some others that have suffered as you have, and this needs to be understood. The backlash is because of so many years of uninformed lawmaking and the DEA policies resulting ruined lives and deaths of thousands. For some people, Kratom may not be a miracle and we need to know and understand that. But for many, it has been a godsend, and we need to prevent the Schedule 1. Some of your commentators have overreacted, just as the DEA has. We need to prioritize 1. getting this off the schedule 1 and #2. understanding and making sure this is understood and a benefit to those that need it. Again, thank you. Everyone, please,. as a minimum sign the petition.

Lets remember, addiction is a trait of a person, not a thing, like a substance. Good points exoman. Kratom can be addicting, like many things. No one should generalize, preaching that it doesn't have an addiction potential. But, I think, it should be noted, the ratio of how low it's addiction profile seems to be in comparison to any other opiate delivering similar effects. In my limited experience, I've found users who become dependent on Kratom have a history of abuse of other opiates, or are aware they have an 'addictive personality', and become so from dosing multiple times per day, daily, for several weeks at least. In other words it seems to take a relative long while to become dependent on, in a general sense for a majority, but the issue is highly subjective and dependent on other factors. Many plants that are drugs, in their original, nature-made form are considerably more forgiving as far as their abuse profile, and posses self-containing compounds acting like a sort of antidote to negative effects or over-dose. Examples are CBD in Cannabis producing an anti-anxiety reaction to counter the effects of too much of its' main ingredient, THC. Additionally, the Opium Poppy plant that all traditional opiates come from, has it's counter substance, Thebaine, that acts as a stimulant. When these chemicals are synthesized, and separated from each other, their magic marriage of symbiotic pairing, an effect that took countless years of evolution, becomes useless.

I commend you for sharing a personal struggle with the world in this video Exoman. Don't let any of the negative comments get you down and be persistent on your path to freedom. If you feel that this substance was diminishing your health and causing you to not be yourself, then by all means you are doing the right thing. Sharing your experience will likely help others do the same. For those of you that think that this substance is a benefit to your life, I guess you will soon have to come to terms with it's new status as an illegal drug. I have never heard of kratom before this video, but like many other things it seems that it affects different people differently. If the comments are any gauge, it seems to affect most people in a negative way (or maybe there are just many people that have trouble seeing themselves in an honest way, and this stuff doesn't seem to help them with that). Keep the videos coming Exoman and best wishes.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I have been researching Kratom on my husbands request. I suffer from fibromyalgia & am on several medications to manage my symptoms. I hate taking the meds but without them my quality of life bottoms out & the constant barrage of pain through my entire body sends me spiraling to thoughts of suicide, which is not a normal thought process for me! I was considering trying this but, thanks to you, I will keep searching for a natural, legal product with no addictive side effects. Since marijuana & CBD oil is not legal where I live that is also out of the question! The DEA may just be saving some people a whole bunch of heartache but I am discouraged in my quest for pain relief outside of opiates that are prescribed by my doctor. I did drug & alcohol detox nursing for many years so I use my pain meds sparingly as I don't ever wish to experience opiate withdrawal symptoms and know firsthand the misery that accompanies it.I also suffer from brain fog and the best thing I have found to combat it is to play problem solving games Not always great at first but I keep playing them until I get quicker and better. I thank you again for sharing your story and I hope that you regain your health rapidly!!

I agree with you that it is not entirely honest for people to say that it is absolutely not addicting. People vary. For some, it is mildly addictive, similar to caffeine, for some, a bit closer to actual mild opiate withdrawals, and for many if not most it seems, mild to no or practically no withdrawals, or anything that would actually keep them from functioning. I guess the point here with kratom is all about relativity, in terms of it's addictive potential. I mean, I think the most accurate and honest way to characterize this where kratom is concerned is that, yes, it is probably for many, no more, or maybe slightly more addictive than caffeine, and for some, more-so though still by far less than that experienced from actual opiate detox withdrawals. The point being that it's not even in the same ballpark with those other, hard drugs. For me, I get some restlessness yes, and fatigue, but nothing like the hell that we know comes from stopping those other substances. And even that's cold turkey after prolonged, relatively "heavy" daily use. Even many regular users experience no withdrawals at all. And so tapering off in the right way should prevent any potential withdrawals, for most, if they were even to experience any at all. I think what needs to be taken into mind with regards to this herb is the benefit to negatives and potential risk factors ratio with it, and that being that it is actually very _high._ I think for most users, the benefits they get from it _far_ outweigh any of the potential risk factors, but _particularly_ in comparison with other, _MUCH_ more harmful (if kratom is even to be said to be harmful at all) drugs. Given the relatively mild severity generally speaking of any potential WDs with this plant, and the therapeutic benefits and innumerable ways in which it helps people, I think that responsible adults should and do have the right to educate themselves and make their own choices, _particularly_ in regards to this herb specifically. Other than of course for potentially having to experience some discomfort for a few days from abruptly discontinuing all use, all at once, especially when one can very easily taper off, I see nothing harmful about this highly beneficial medicinal herb. I think it should be there for people to use if they make that choice on their own, and especially for those such as myself suffering with chronic pain, and who do _not_ want, nor can we necessarily afford to take, these other more harmful prescription drugs which are BY FAR _MUCH_ much worse, in every single way, and actually _detrimental_ to your health. It is a _much_ healthier option which some people truly _need,_ and for all manner of ailments, physical _and_ psychological. Whatever side effects you were experiencing, I believe were unique, and certainly not the usual in most cases. I'm sure if you were to compare the side effects people experience from all manner of prescription drugs, to that of kratom, the difference would be night and day. I know that's been my experience, anyway. Thanks for your honesty, and for warning people about any possible dangers.

I absolutely agree! No alcohol or anything else when using kratom! I got addicted to pain meds a few years ago because I had a serious, chronic medical condition. I overdosed and almost died in November of 2013. Just a few weeks and nightmarish withdrawals later, I learned of kratom. I was skeptical but I ordered a small amount online. I took a couple of grams after researching it. Within one hour, I felt fine. I didn't feel high. I felt just fine. I could focus, I wasn't depressed, and I wasn't feeling the pain from my medical condition that had helped to get me addicted to opiates. Since I discovered kratom, I've never felt the need to increase my dosage like I did with opiates. I still take the same dosage every day. There are days when I run out and I only feel a very slight discomfort. It's not enough to keep me from working a very physical job. I don't ever have the restless legs. I don't get the "peppermint sweats." What I believe happened to you was that you were taking a pretty big dose every day. No one needs that big dose. Just a little helps me out just fine. I've been a full time manager at a national chain of stores for over a year and I never underperform, I never call in sick, and I never have any problems even if I'm out of kratom. I know veterans who depend on this plant to help them conquer depression, pain, ptsd, etc. And it does so successfully! It's an amazing plant! You must be respectful of it, though. Don't go straight for the huge doses. You'll either throw up or it will make you feel like crap. Everything in moderation is what my mom has always said. This is no different.

We all react differently to different compounds not sure why people are arguing about the severity of the withdraws. This is Exoman's experience and it sounds like some of these symptoms where made worse with the use of alcohol. Thank you for sharing Exoman. I have to say I do disagree with the DEA's stance on Kratom and many other drugs but there seems to not be much we can do. The best thing about withdraws are they aren't chronic. Should have measured for starters, and tapered over a couple of weeks to get off of it. This is evidence of people who don't do their due diligence to know how to use something. Unlike things like alcohol, kratom detox will NOT kill you. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with it. It has been extremely beneficial to me. Low, measured doses and it should not be taken more than a couple days in a row.

Thank you for being brave and posting your experience. My own experience with kratom has been more positive. I had a cup of tea with my grandma every day (half a teaspoon of the powder) to help her get off the methadone she'd been taking for years for her rheumatoid arthritis. Her Dr had become concerned that the methadone was hurting her heart. And we just gradually went to only having a cup every other day, then every few days. She had NO withdrawals! ...And neither did I. So yes, I agree with you that the DEA is wrong to ban it completely ! (Btw, almond joy creamer makes it taste SOOO much better 😄)

I guess you have never detoxed from opiates? I was put on opiates (Oxycontin) for several years for my pain. I had to go cold turkey to get off of them and it took me a year to get normal. Remember, the doctors want to detox you with more opiates. They want to keep you coming back. That's why I went cold turkey. I don't wish that on my worst enemy. A lot went on in that year, I won't go into the details. Kratom is a miracle plant for pain relief. Our bodies are designed to metabolize "natural" plant products. Big Pharma's pain killers are man made & the body can't metabolize them. That is why we have an opiate epidemic in the USA. And so many people are overdosing & dying. Let me give you an example of my personal experience. When I was on OxyContin I was always constipated, it was hell! When taking Kratom I am never constipated. Hence, man made vs narural. FYI,Kratom is not an opiate;Used as an opiate substitute, kratom contains no opiates of any kind, but it does bind to the same receptor sites in the brain. It binds to the mu-opioid receptor, as do both enkephalins and morphine. Additionally mitragynine binds to kappa-opioid receptors, which are associated with pain relief and sedation.I wish you the best!

I have been using kratom for 7 years for anxiety so the "opiod" effect is not what I am after evidently because after 7 years daily use I have used around the same amount. I no longer experience any noticeable "euphoria" I recently cut back to prove a point I have cut my usage in half in 3 days with minimal discomfort. I would recommend people just gradually taper maybe half a gram every 4 days or so. I am experiencing no addictive like qualities. Just discomfort like sneezing a bit and being cold. Its just like stopping something else perhaps yohimbe.

I'm the happiest I've ever been. I've been dose free for 3 days, I'm fine. a 5 year kratom user, 3 days, not one dose, I'm fine. I'm edgy, and my SSRI issues are still there, and they are bad. but I'm fine. sounds to me your problems were being handled on kratom rather than not. none of that was caused by kratom..

The best way to beat the withdrawal is to wean yourself off instead of just stopping. just keep lowering the dose until you're down to practicality nothing a day. I have a bad back from an accident, falling off a loading dock. Never have I been injured before and I only take kratom once a day, every other day or every two days. I'm in the same boat as you buddy. It's too easy to get and while yes when you buy it over the internet it is cheaper but at a smoke shop it's expensive as shit. Screw all these people saying "if you need a law to stay away blah blah". I agree with the OP, it's a constant chase to be in a better mood and enjoy things more, but there is a ceiling on the effects and it just ends up screwing with your mood altogether, like traditional opiates do as well. There is withdrawal from Kratom, anybody who denies Kratom doesn't give withdrawal is full of shit or takes no more than like 4 or 5 grams a day. I'll admit the WD from kratom is much shorter and milder than traditional opiates, but it's still there. But alas, I planned on stopping on the 30th so that's what I'm gonna do, I've gone through all sorts of other WD that was much worse than this will be. Anybody who wants to flame me or whatever, I don't fucking care, I'm entitled to my own opinion.

Kratom is definitely a better alternative to Oxycodone imho.

sir go to walmart or whole foods and ask for hylands restful legs. its homeopathic. not addictive and u dissolve them under ur tongue and they take the restless legs away. I've heard its amazing. i have it on stand by. I remember waking up w tingling in my spine in the morning before dosing, not just my legs like my back. I appreciate this info. hopefully you share when u are recovered , maybe you have il check. god bless
