I love how endearing it is how Kratos kneels down and asks Brok's blessing. The man has gotten gifts of weapons from Gods but he realizes and respects brok as both a friend and a extraordinary blacksmith. Tbh I think Kratos preferred his blessing over the mermaid smith's

I love they handled Brok’s vulgarity. It’s not too gratuitous , to the point where it’s unfunny, it’s just the right amount to make it charming in a way. I’m gonna miss him

this is the weapon that made for Kratos and only him, forge with his blood and the only weapon made with the purpose of protecting his son. also got blessing from the best blacksmith, his friend among all of Kratos weapon use, this and Axe are the most special to him, Spear for his son, Axe from his beloved wife.

Kratos said brok speaks plainly. Like brok is incapable of telling a lie. It's a just such a good line displaying Kratos trust in him

Honestly, the fact that Brok didn't immediately confront Sindri and cuss him out for lying about his first death was really honorable. It wasn't until he dies again that he makes sure to let Sindri know he is forgiven. Brok was the realest one in this game. RIP

SPOILERS Man Brok really turned into my favorite character this game. He said whatever he wanted whenever he wanted, didn’t care about anybody’s god status & just wanted to do what was right, & was the only one who caught onto the whole Tyr thing. His death is one of the few video game deaths that shook me. RIP to a real one

What many people failed to realize is that, when Kratos says "I am tired" he's not physically tired, he's mentally and emotionally tired, for the first time in a very long time, The Ghost of Sparta, needs to lay down for his thoughts

I like how the Lady seemed surprised to see that Kratos is a Greek God of War.

This scene is incredible. It really shows the respect and friendship between Brok and Kratos. The moment where Kratos puts on the ring and calls the spear is so powerful.

I love how at 2:25 you can actually hear the wind cut out since Brok took the "sound" of it.

From “I don’t run errands for dwarfs” to kneeling before Brok to ask for a blessing on the new spear. What an arc for both characters.

Finding all or just the missing piece of Brok's Spirit as a side quest would be an incredible addition to the game.

Small thing but i really like the words Brok uses for the blessing. 3 lines but only one of them were about the weapon being good at killing. The 2nd was for it to be tempered by wisdom. and the third tto be only used when it is needed.

Kratos is the guy that literally ripped Helios' head with his bare hands. We never expected him to be wholesome. That's good and i don't say that because i didn't like it, on the contrary, i love that Kratos is finally finding himself

We stopped talking for months and one day she sent me a simple " I'm sorry " and I didn't even bother to answer because for me after what we went through, I was feeling like a simple sorry wasn't enough. But in that moment, when Kratos said to Brok " It is the nature of a thing that matters. not its form. " It striked me and I realized... she actually felt sorry and apologized. that was the nature of the thing and what mattered. not it's form, the fact that she just put 3 words and not 200. This game is truely a masterpiece.

So Syndri always went to see the lady because he was worried Brok would pick up on her not talking to him because of missing soul bits?

The Lady's face immediately changed to see Kratos' blood with the Omega logo.

This scene was so amazing it really built a bigger friendship between Kratos and Brok. Kratos in the end saw late Brok as a FAMILY.

Kratos and Brok’s friendship is one of the best in the two games. First impressions, both were skilled in their own profession and showed a mutual respect for their crafts. Then when Atreus gets sick, Brok offers to help Kratos without a second thought. Then it comes full circle as the here where Kratos helps Brok when he realizes he’s missing his soul.

9:17. I find it so impressive that Kratos just knows what to do to summon the spear from the ring. No instructions. No asking for instructions. Just understanding that the weapon is summoned by his own will.

Why do I think that all the obstacles that Kratos and Brok encountered were Sindri's doing? He was already worried when he went to get the ring. And after Brok insists on going the gate suddenly gets blocked. Even the crank was missing a lever. I don't think coincidence cut it.

I got tears when God of War himself kneel down to Brok for his blessing. Such a heart warming scene🥹.

Fuck, nobody mentions the real point. Something needs to be blessed toward a God. This blessing needs to be of means that approve to a God. The mermaid didn't fuckin know kratos. It needed to be Brok. Brok accepted Kratos as a good God here.

Asking Brok to bless his spear was such a genuinely warm and kind thing of Kratos to do. Their friendship was very touching.

Kratos’ asking for his blessing and kneeling for him meant more to Brok than a thousand Mjiolnirs. Both because he was a God of War that kneeled to no one, and a friend, that respects him and sees him like family. Tears.

I always have and always will feel an insane amount of satisfaction just from the sheer amount of respect one has towards another.

After living a life filled with betrayals and backstabbings, it’s nice that Kratos is able to get so close to someone who basically always says how he feels.

Scenes like this in 10:30 where a character gets the respect, value and recognition they have always deserved will never cease to put a smile in my face

Kratos has come so far. His empathy for others. He's not the monster he use to let himself be

I will forever love this moment in gaming because of what it truly represents. Kratos as a character has rarely ever shown anyone any form of respect and Brok as a character rarely receives any respect in comparison to his brother due to his nature, his colorful choice of language, and his overall abrasive personality. Kratos as warrior and a God taking the knee and presenting Brok, a meer blacksmith, with with a weapon said smith forged for the smith's humble blessing, forsaking the blessing of a truly powerful being in which said blacksmith respected since childhood it's something absolutely powerful to watch. Kratos by doing this and saying the phrase " it is the nature of a thing that matters, not its form" proves that not only Kratos was listening to Brok, but also values the blessing of Brok more than that of a legendary being. This act of pure humility and respect from Kratos shows that he is fully acknowledging the work that Brok (and by minor extension Sindri) has done throughout the entirety of their friendship. Rather than forcing the idea of finding another person to bless the spear, he chooses to humbly ask Brok, someone that would be considered lower than most beings around himself, for a blessing which would only be a blessing of meer words due to Brok's lack of a soul piece. Brok even fully acknowledges that his blessing would only be that of words but Kratos wants it anyway. You can really see that in Brok's face and in needing to take a few moments to compose himself that he is moved so thoroughly by Kratos's request his voice even breaks. Both never say thank you, and both just nod. Brok never even brags to Sindri about this which proves that he values this as a treasure beyond any act or words of praise from any God before Kratos. Even Mimir seems speechless by the act of pure respect from Kratos towards Brok and all three men take this as a private moment between the two and don't tell anyone about the blessing. I wish during the final moments of the game that Kratos or Mimir could have said some final words about treasuring Brok blessing during the funeral so Sindri would known that some part of Brok still exists and is treasured by Kratos himself. But then again Kratos is a man of few words and idk if Mimir would have thought it was the right time to mention it. But overall a truly powerful moment.

It's crazy how many characters in God of War 2018 and 2022 had a growth in their character arc. Brok, of all Kratos ally, died a warrior's death when he was only a blacksmith. Kratos kneel down to get his blessing. Kratos which so many ridiculed as a monster becomes a God which people loved and respected. Sindri which starts as a comic relief character become a character you can't help to feel sorry at the end. Freya forgave Kratos and becomes his trusted ally. Kratos finally let go of Atreus and let him do what he needs to do on his own. Literally every character had their character arc perfected in the end.

This one of the most emotionally endearing moments in gaming, having kratos show his respect of Brock like this to kneel and ask for his blessing is just idek how to word it, this game is spectacular and brok is definitely my favorite character in GOW aside from kratos and Atreus

The Blades of Chaos: Weapons from his troubled history, forever following him. The Past. The Leviathan Axe: A weapon gifted to him by his wife for the life he has chosen to live for his son. The Present. The Draupnir Spear: A weapon forged with his current bonds to prevent the death of his loved ones, and pave the way to a better tomorrow regardless of prophecy. The Future. Kratos now holds his own past, present and future in his own hands.

People have talked about being able to find Brok's missing "soul-bit" and either using it to bring him back or, more likely, to just give to Brok as a peace offering of sorts. Which would all be awesome, but my mind took it to a very different direction. What if, when they give it back to him, Sindri thanks them and is really happy, but then says he's in the middle of something and that he had to go. When you visit him again at their Forge at the gates, Sindri is a new man. Hes smacking his hammer with conviction, a smile on his face, and Brok's soul bit on display right beside him. He's really charitable, and says he wants to thank you and offers you a free upgrade, or even a new weapon in Brok's name! "Or, maybe.." he trails off, disregarding that "bit of inspiration" for now. Later on, when you visit again, the doors will be locked. You have to yell at him for his attention and he sounds unhinged. He opens the door and you could barter with him, then he tells you he's in the middle of a secret project to give to the team as a gift. Mimir questions his behaviors, and Sindri almost snaps at him, before chuckling and bidding fair well, closing the door swiftly and turning many locks right after. After awhile, when you go back and call for him outside the door, there won't be a response, no matter what. You decide to leave for now and come back some other time. But it happens again. The team gets startled and has a discussion on whether it's their place to intervene or intrude on him, even after they made amends. They ultimately decide that it's worth it if he's in trouble, and Kratos busts the door open, revealing the whole place to be a complete and total shit storm. Metal, food, and trash everywhere, the coals of the Forge cold and lifeless. Sindri nowhere to be seen. After investigating, you find a secret door in the wall that's slightly ajar. You enter it and into a narrow, winding tunnel. All the while, you can hear a faint noise, almost like murmurings. Further down, they become louder. "I told you you were too reckless. Just had to be yourself to the very end, right? Just leave me here, heh, ya big lug. Not last time. Not this time. Not *any* time, in fact. I did it once, why not again? 3/4ths? A quarter? I'll use your fucking toe next you blue-bastard. You'll see... *they* will see too..." You come upon a door with a sliver of light around it, and silently, you swing it open. What you see is a nightmare. Brok's body is mangled and screwed together with various automations, his chest cavity dug out and layered with gold with an opening inside. Sindri flinched and falls backward when you come inside, picking himself up frantically and throws a wrench at the team asking if they must invade his whole life once again. Kratos snaps back "It is not only your life that you tamper with here! It is Brok's as well, all those close to you. You've gone mad, Sindri." "Oh, OH! So I've gone mad? What about you! ALL OF YOU! You, 'former Queen', you brought that mouthy little shit back from the dead with just his head! But not my Brok? WHY? WHY DOES NO ONE POUR THEIR HEARTS OUT FOR US? BROK ALWAYS DID FOR YOU, AND YOU TORE THROUGH ME TO TEAR HIS OUT! I'm not crazy, God of War, *I'm awake* . And..., heh, *he* will be too." Sindri reaches under his shirt, pulling up a necklace with Brok's bit as an ornament. He places it into a gold, cylinder case the size of his head, clasps it shut and practically slams it into Brok's mechanical corpse. Kratos steps in to intervene and throws Sindri away, but its too late. The cogs and wires in the machines start to turn and hum, as Brok's body begins to sink in its restraints before slowing pulling them off, a lifeless expression on his face, with empty, emotionless eyes. "Where....the fuck...am I....." Brok says, before you here a primal scream from Sindri behind you. He begins to laugh maniacally on the floor, rolling in the trash and hitting his head repeatedly. "I DID IT! FUCK YOU KRATOS! FUCK YOU ATREUS! FUCK YOU GODS! FUCK ....EVERYONE! I don't need anyone but him, I don't need to TRUST OR HELP, ANY OF YOU ANYMORE....we can be a team again. Right, my, brother?" "Sindri..that you?" He stares blankly at the floor, his cogs moving but his body staying put. "Oh yes! Yes it's, it's me, your brother! Tell me, Brok, what do you remember?" "Ehhrrmm..." and small flurry of steam pipes out of Brok's back. "We were makin, something...at" "Our old forge?" Sindri asks. "Uhh....yeah..." Brok replies. Sindri is still now. "Oh...I see..." "Bloody shit..." Mimir chokes, "you've.. gone and done it this time, Sindri...I think I'm finally gonna be sick for the first time since I've come back to...ugh, you know.." "Sindri!" Kratos yells, "Look at what you've become! What you've done to your brother! This madness must end." "Stop...yelling at my brother you...gray fuck.." Brok mumbles, which makes Sindri whip his head back. "No.." Mimir whispers. "Don't tell me, you crazy fuck, that he doesn't even remember us?" "No," Sindri said. "I figured as much, and that's fine, it's what I'd prefer. This is your gift to me, to make up what you stole from me. Now...please leave m...us, in peace. Please."

There are a lot of great parts about this whole deal. But the best is that Kratos just learned about how dwarven magic works a little while ago on the ride up. Not only was he paying attention, and listening, but also able to comprehend and apply that knowledge.

Brok said he ain't nervous but stutters when in front of the mermaid. 🤣

Man the level of storytelling that Santa Monica uses here is the highest level it gets in games, right up there with Last of Us and Souls games. Look at the expression of the Lady when she is forging the spear. An expression of excitement shows of her face as she completes Draupnir, you can tell this ancient master of weapons-craft is creating something special and impressive, even for her. And it makes it all the more exciting to wield it.

This actually made me cry, even though I don't cry easily...

One thing I noticed is that when Brok asked for her blessing, she didn't notice him and was looking at Kratos his soul and realizing how cursed it was

When Brok said "F**k" he knew that he died once and Sindri kept this secret the whole time but now....Brok died twice by Odin and there's no chance to bring him back again to gather his soul parts in the lake of souls...only thing to do now is by paying respect for our great blacksmith who's been everywhere.

You know, I think the Lady actually blessed The Draupnir Spear. Brok just didn't know it.

Honestly, I love the relationship they did with Brok and Kratos. Brok was given a profound vulgarity to where they made it comical, and Kratos found his sense of speech welcoming as he was always straightforward. Even after he found out Brok had died once, he still corrected him and asked for a blessing on Draupnir. He even honored Brok more so by repeating the words said on the lift: "What's important is not the form of something, but its nature." and knelt for him. Kratos knelt for no one up until that point, so his respect towards the Huldra Brothers was beyond incredible. He even went so far as to bless the spear for Kratos, which shows Kratos valued the dwarves more than a mythical creature. Damn, how I'm gonna miss our favorite blue dwarf...

Hmm… they call the mermaid “The Lady” could she be… Nimue/Viviane? The Lady of the Lake of Arthurian legend? I also love how Brok wormed his way into Kratos’s heart. Kratos really has changed, accepting all these people into his life. He calls Mimir brother, said Sindri (and Brok even though he was gone) his family, and made amends with Freya. And that’s not mentioning all the other people he meets in this game. Edit: He even KNEELS to Brok. He kneels to no one, but Brok earned his respect.

Man the blessing of Draupnir scene hits different after well what happens... Sindri and Brok were such great side characters along with everyone else like Mimir especially in the first game. Their personalities just mixed in so well with the dynamics of the story.

I’ve always appreciated how much Kratos respected Brok. And I think it was broks just general demeanor that kratos respected more than anything. The fact that Brok “spoke plainly” which just means he just calls it as he sees it, is something kratos could get behind. He also showed absolutely 0 fear of kratos the moment they met and I think that went a long way to kratos respecting Brok as well.

It’s stupid but I knew Brok was dying when the dwarves started getting a lot of screen time. It was so damn sad but I knew either he or sindri were going

Is nobody talking about how symbol made out of Kratoses blood changed from symbol for war in Greece to a Spartan symbol (Like on we had in Ghost of Sparta when we were fighting with Diemos against the God of Death)

I love how Brok is nearly acting like a happy kid until he dies again.

Just beat the game 100% completion on God of War difficulty and this blessing is all that's going through my head right now. "May it be put down when it's job is done..." Rest in Peace Brok 😔

When Kratos recites what Brok told him… that hits hard as fuck

You see, I figured Sindri didn’t want Brok going because the other dwarves must’ve knew he’s dead, but when it was revealed The Lady was a Mermaid and they ONLY speak to the soul, that’s when it became clear that’s what Sindri feared

I feel like Kratos respected Brok ever since he learned that not only did he build Faye's Leviathan Axe, but could improve it. Paying back that respect to Brok wasn't a simple task, but Kratos knew this would be the perfect way to thank him for his contributions.

Brok's nature is even more important than his soul, amazing.

The blades might be a curse, but the axe, shield and spear are all weapons Kratos received with love in mind. Love from his wife, love for his son and love from his friends.

If I'm wrong for thinking this scene, where Brok blesses The Draupnir Spear, is the best scene in the game I don't want to be right.
