Love Krautrock.... I've got tonnes of this music ranging from the easy to get to the ridiculously obscure..... love it.💪 I agree about Faust too.

Hi Jonas, some lovely records shown - I would recommend the Tarot record by Walter Wegmuller (Cosmic Couriers). Also the other Faust and Neu records, and I'm still looking for the Electric Sandwich LP which is so hard to find or afford. Cheers, Paul

Fantastic video. You have shown most of the main bands in my view but as we know there were so many great bands in Germany in the 70s. My challenge with Krautrock is often as you explain the wide scope it covers. I am more of a progrock / hardrock guy and there are wonderful bands who tick this box. Many 1 album band as well. Sure you know Long Hair label. I can only recommend them as they did a fantastic job to re issue these hard to find gems (I.e Gomorrha, Ainigma, gift, et cetera, … and you name them). Btw it is the second time I hear you speaking about Scorpions. I understand your point but I love so much their second album’ fly to the rainbow, that I had to make the point 😅 Thanks for this great video

Very cool video and collection! My recomendations would be: Klaus Schulze (Irlicht, Cyborg and later ones from the 70s), Cluster, Harmonia, La Dusseldorf, Cosmic Jokers, Conrad Schnitzler, Deuter (first two albums).

Great collection! Krautrock has become a focus for me the past couple of years. It's a hard genre to collect originals and early pressings so I commend you. I'm thankful that a lot of these have been reissued recently which has helped me add some of these into my collection. I did a flip style video of my collection recently. There's still so much more to find as I'm sure you know. Take care.

Those first two NEU! Records were reissued within the past few years, I believe and shouldn’t be too difficult to find. As good as the third album is, the first two are fantastic. The first one is definitely in my top 100 list! Great video, as always.

We've had a similar journey as far as acquiring the same records. Several favorites here, I think Ash Ra Tempel's debut really grabbed my attention to pick up more from the scene in the last couple years. Love the classical transition on that Popul Vuh, really beautiful. Zeit is my fave by Tangerine Dream. You can get wrapped up in those worlds every time. I think Silberbart is a must when it comes to the heavier side. Dies Irae record could also be essential for the track "Trip" alone. Gomorrha's "Trauma" was the last one I streamed. Still huntin' at the very least a reissue.
@SublimMedia
@SublimMedia 2 года назад
Thanks for the tips. Can’t say I recognize any of them but I’ll check em out at work tomorrow. Popol Vuh is a favorite. Can’t say I have ever heard a bad album by them. And you are right on Tangerine Dream. Just the needle and float away.

Wow! Liked your video and how you talked about Krautrock. Love your channel! My recommendations would be: A.R. & Machines - Die Grüne Reise (The Green Journey) for me one of the best Krautrock records, it's like a symphony. And Pacific Sound - Forget Your Dream! since I'm from Switzerland. You can count this as Krautrock. I would also recommend Krokodil or Brainticket from Switzerland. Thanks for your video and your recommendations!

Nice collection 😊. I don’t have the Necronomicom album but I remember it because my friend at school had a German student over on an exchange arrangement and he bought that album over and I always wanted him to play that. On the Michael Rother side Harmonia are very good as are Cluster. Klaus Dinger went on to form La Düsseldorf and they made some good albums.

Great selection! Can Tago Mago is perhaps ( not only for me personally ) the most important Krautrock record ever, Ege Bamyasi is important too. Amon Düul Yeti is great too, although I rate Phallus Dei higher, Psychedelic Underground I also like. Hoelderlins Traum is a Masterpiece, the same with Emtidi Saat, better then their very rare other album on Thorofon that is superhard to find even here in Germany. If you like this kind of trippy Acid Folk-Psych like Hoelderlins Traum or Emtidi I can recommend you the "Henrich & Hochstetter" LP on Philipps from 1971, totally underrated. There are two Ash ra Temple LP´s that I personally prefer over their debut: "Schwingungen" & "Starring Rosie". Kraftwerk, I only like their first 2 LP´s + the Pre Kraftwerk Tone Float record + the Ibliss-Supernova, where Kraftwerk Members were involved. Their other albums are definitely important but not my cup of coffee. Frumpy All will be changed (by the way I have three Philipps first press copys with the Plastic Gimmick cover, perhaps I can let one go) is not exactly what I call a typical Krautrock Group, like Atlantis too for example. For me Frumpy and Inga are tryin a little too hard to imitate Janis Joplin or Big Brother & the Holding Co or similar US Groups, but without reach their level, but the Chameleon Coverart is iconic. I prefer the first Karthago LP or the Creative Sound-Gorilla LP on Green Brain over Frumpy each day, perhaps a Band like Emergency too. Guru Guru were a fantastic Band and I like nearly all there first LP´s, same with Embryo: Embryos Rache & Steig Aus are two of my all time favorites. Brainticket (OK they were a swiss / Italian Band but you can call them to the Krautrock-Scene, like Krokodil, Shiver, Duffy or TOAD that were also Swiss Bands) were fantastic and supertrippy too, Psychonaut is a crazy LP, Cottonwoodhill too. Generally there were so many great Bands in Germany with fantastic records, sometimes only one. Others I like are: Electric Sandwich, Gomorrah, Gift (their debut LP on Telefunken is awesome), Tomorrows Gift, the first 2 Wallenstein LP´s, Ruphus Zuphall, Virus, Dis Irae, Out of Focus, OS Mundi, Niagara, Joy Unlimited, Et Cetera, Dauner Group-Rischka´s Soul, Kühn Brothers and the Mad Rockers, McChurch Soundroom, 2066 and Then, Jeronimo and so on and so on. There are too many.

Great choices! Masterpieces most of them, very close to my own personal preferences. I agree about Tago Mago, Zeit, ART's first, Kanguru, Yeti, Holderlin's Traum etc. being the most important releases from these legendary bands... Other important albums: Irrlicht , Timewind, Mirage ( K. Schulze), Cluster '71, Kraan ( first ), In the Garden of Pharaohs ( Popol Vuh), Broselmaschine, Cosmic Jokers ( first), Inventions for Electric guitar (Manuel Gottsching), Ypsilon in Malaysian pale ( Edgar Froese), Full Horn ( Cornucopia), Edge of Time ( Dom), Deluxe ( Harmonia)...

Amazing collection! How do you feel about Novalis or Jane? My dad asked that I find a couple of their albums for him. My dad got back into vinyl before I did. I bought the Novalis “Sommerabend”. I like the original Brain label. I like Amon Düül II a lot, but I only have Hijack on vinyl. I would love to get Yeti. You know, these albums are beyond rare in the states. I found “Hijack” in a store, but I think I would have to get online to get their other albums. Even a reissue of “Yeti” is very expensive though. I saw they sold a reissue on Bandcamp. I subscribed to their page in chance if they ever release another one. Brilliant video, thanks again!

I'm fortunate in that I live a short train ride away from the famous Ultima Thule Records in Leicester, England. Run by the Freeman brothers authors of "The Crack In The Cosmic Egg" possibly the definitive inventory / encyclopedia on Krautrock and Kosmiche music which turned me into this scene big time. Once you start digging in this field there are some other lesser known gems to be discovered: bands like Code III, Brave New World, Dennis, Cluster, Emtidi and others made fantastic albums that stretched the musical vocabulary. Krautrock bought into being whole new genres and forging new directions for music to expand into.

All great picks, no doubt. A local shop got a kraut rock collection of around 800 lps last year. Insane stuff and in the main original copies. I limited my buys, only got 18 Lps and didn't look through the collection again. My pal didn't show the same restraint and has bought around a 100 lps over a year period. I kick myself now for not doing the same when I look at what he's got (Organisation Tone Float, Frumpy 1st UK og, first two Guru Guru's and so many more classics). I really need to get Saat, what a great lp. Cheers Nigel

The shop hasn't put the stuff out as it's so niche in our area so we had the luxury of taking our time and paying in installments but I still stopped with my 18 buys.
