I've recently been looking at this system. The main thing that made me not get it was I read that the slots and other accessories are proprietary, meaning you can't use generic clamps, tracks, etc. Only Kreg-made stuff works with this system. If you have nothing, that may not matter to you, but for those who already have a nice collection of clamps and things won't be happy when they discover they don't fit on the Kreg. I opted for the Festool MFT/3 instead.
George Brill thanks for reaching out! So I’ve been really happy with it, Kreg did a fanatic job with it overall. My one problem that I ran into was I ran into a bit of sawdust clumping in the dust port on especially humid days. I reached out to Kreg’s support to find out if they’d received any similar complaints, and they told me one of their employees ran into a similar issue but when he switched from using the dust bag to hooking it up to a dust collector, it never again presented the issue. Otherwise, it sounded like the complaint wasn’t a common one.
I think there’s a couple different ways to look at it-for people who are using table saws then you’re right, there are table saws available in the price range that will serve a similar purpose, but there are also people who straight up don’t want a table saw because they’re concerned with losing some digits and can’t afford a sawstop, or who don’t want something the size of a table saw taking up limited shop space. For people in the second camp, this is a solid alternative.
