Kudo yh but that's what distinguishes a rapper from an artist, they were rappers when they were doing Red Rum and Tsunami tapes but in order to get a higher profile they had to cater to different audiences with melodies and commercial stuff whilst remaining what they're known for on certain tracks its a balance strategy between reciting easy bars at stage shows and understanding punchlines in a room

Kudo no there's a difference between a rapper and an artist.. They didn't start becoming artists until their 'Young Kings' tape where the continual mood of the project was creative and not one dimensional; hence Konan stating on this podcast that he wants to be considered as an artist.

Kudo yeah I agree in this climate it is good to be authentic and thats what they've always been they've just added a few ingredients to their repertoire which doesn't have to be for all of us
