@@cm8836 maaan, the '80s were the truth! I was very blessed to have grown up in the '70s and I had older relatives who loved music so I got to hear a LOT of good stuff from the late '60s and early '70s. When the '80s came around and I became a teenager, it was just an explosion of great pop music.
Super Cat is one of the greatest reggae artists from that time and is considerated an icon today. He's the one that inspired a lot of other artists like Shaggy or Sean Paul.
I'm 43 so I give u nothing but props 🤝🏿 for speaking the truth 😂😂😂 I mean they were bumpn this from Green Bay WI down to STL 😎 and I know this because it was me and my cousins the whole summer of 96
I forgot all about this song. This literally took my whole spirit back. When the song went off I became sad like “please come back 90’s, don’t leave me here”😔😅
Haha me too, born in 84’ and 93’- 95’ was the Ragga chorus time in hip hop. I am from 🇬🇧 and these guys were so big over here you can believe, I saw two school shows where kids performed their songs with jeans back to front.
Go to any party in the 2020s were people might be playing rap. Play warm it up and if they diss you tell them this. Hey man this rap group was on the radio and they made it big when they were 12 and you feel pretty good listening to it. This is the shit 80s-90s kid grew up on and then do an imaginary mic drop because you owned them. I bump 90s rap because it's some of the best rap around.
I used to go to skaters' parties back in 1992/1993 and Kriss Kross's songs were always on the Dj's playlists! Then, I've just introduced Kriss Kross to my 9 year-old-boy and he loves it! What a cool hip hop band! Cheers from Brazil.
I'll do as you did this week & play "I miss the bus" for my 14 & 6 year old as they get up for the final weeks of school. The blessings of fatherhood is being able to teach & relieve the things that brought us joy as kids before the pressures of adulthood were upon us.
@@johanmassy5290 I couldn't agree more with you. :) Now my 4 year-old-boy became a huge fan of old school hip hop, including Kriss Kross, Beatie Boys and Onyx (He loves SLAM). Cheers from Brazil.
I'm 40 now and I can tell you with no doubt that the 90's was the most developing time in every era, especially in entertainment. You had so many varieties to choose from and this was one gem!
I'm not going to lie, they hit the scene hard bigger than any other child artists in my opinion. They had everyone around the globe trying to duplicate them. The wearing clothes backwards were a unstoppable trend at that time and still never seen anything close. They were a movement and no one to this day ever been able to eclipse them. Trust me I live to see it 💯
Big up to Jermaine Dupri and his productions skills. Sampling Slave 'Just A Touch Of Love' was genius. KK was and still is a major gateway to the Atlanta Hip Hop boom in the 90s.
@ Nathan Rogers I was here wondering after reading a few of the blogs, who would've reminded us which track this was sampled from. And also be reminded that Jamaica's DJ Super Cat made a cameo appearance on this track.
I still don't know why they said kriss kross was a one-hit wonder. Lol! This, warm it up, its a shame, etc. They had alot of hits back in the good ole 90's. I guess no one really recognized.. Classic throwback
These two kids knew how to do music back then. This just proves that age is just a number. How old one is, doesn't make any difference. As long as the music was good, had charm, and high in quality, that's all that matters! RIP Chris 'Mac Daddy' Kelly!
When I was a shorty, (12 or so), I knew FOR Sure that I was gonna marry Chris Kelly! I was in love with that boy! I miss them so much. Back then if you didn't like Kris Kross, I didn't like you-period. That's loyalty right there. Shout out to Word Up! Black Beat, Right on! magazine, YSB, and the tribute magazines for keeping my walls covered, info updated, and for puttin a smile on my face! Kris Kross forever! From '92-2013! RIP Chris Kelly 8-11-78- 05-01-2013
The dopest unanticipated collabos ever made no one would ever think Kriss Kross would ever make a song with a jamaican artist and come out with a timeless classic
Hold tight, hold tight, say we haffi hold tight... Hold tight, hold tight, say we haffi hold tight... Tell them Mista Cat, and him haffi hold tight Tell them Kriss Kross, everyting is alright Come in the place and you feeling right They come in the place and you hold your girl tight Tell them Mista Cat, him a DJ tonight Say hold tight, tight and everyting is alright
It trips me out that I sat next to ones sister at Doug in Atlanta and she had on a KrissKross tshirt on one day. I was like whats that? She said her lil bro was gonna debut on In Living Color that night which is why she wore the tshirt. After that night they blew up like crazy
What a feel good jam... I always felt like JD and KK didn't get enough credit for their contribution to the 90's golden era. The sampling and collab with Supercat here is down right 🔥
