I still consider Krisbow's 2020 release of 48" & 56" ivory color ceiling fans as one of the best ceiling fans you can get the 2020's. Well, that fan has been discontinued for about 2 years now, and today Krisbow has brought us a replacement for it; a pure white SMC made ceiling fan with an SMC 'KS' style motor!
No longer does this fan have the bulbous plastic motor cover that the 2020 version had, in place of it is a much more pleasant bare bones spinner motor. One downside I can see is a lack of ventilation, as the 2020 ivory motor has tons of cooling vents within the plastic covers. Even so, this fan doesn't heat up that much when you set it on high, and keep in mind that airflow from this fan is still a LOT stronger than Panasonic’s slouchy F-EY1511! I still put this fan up with National's F-EY149 in terms of performance, but instead of a direct jet of air like the National makes, this fan's curved bladeset spreads the airflow & doesn't blast you with air that much when you're underneath it.
One mindset I have about ceiling fans is that fans which utilize Matsushita style skeletal motor last longer than fans that have this enclosed motor shell, simply because skeletal motors get more ventilation, thus making it easier for the motor to cool down & the bearings won't heat up as much as if they're inside an enclosure with the hot stator. That mindset is also supported by the fact that since my childhood, I've seen CMC fans dying left & right, while the Matsushita ceiling fans around me seem to last almost forever. I'm not sure whether that also applies to SMC fans, as I've seen an equal number of dead & working SMC fans, both in or out of Indonesia. The reliability of this fan remains to be seen, but I place my hopes for these fans to last a long while!

Tbh my main problem is: low is WAY too fast. SMC industrials in HK have better low speds, especially with the transformer-based controls, I believe
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
True. The 2020 version has a much better range of speeds, but they changed the internal components of the controls for the 2023 model, including the value of the capacitor.

90 watts... I definitely approve of that fan I dont mind if a cf is from 78- 100 watts or at least it's fast at a low wattage
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
I'd be more impressed if this fan were rated for something like 120 Watts & had deeper blade pitch

Those OG SMCs are commonly found in old stores or old places like market or something inclusding other HK CF like DEMCs. But finally Krisbow making they first industrial ceiling fan and as well as the revival of SMCs

This isn't Krisbow's first SMC based ceiling fan, but I feel like this is the best looking so far. I much rather prefer the plain K series style motor though

Lots of questions is their to ask about this fan! but I am gonna ask u main one. Is this good quality and long lasting
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
I’d gladly answer your other questions hahaha. I can’t say much about the reliability of this fan, as I haven’t seen many of these in public, but I’m sure they’re as reliable as KDKs

Damn I wish Ace sold these in the Philippines, where my family is from. I believe the highest tier non-HVLS industrials you get there are KDK. If they sold these there, we would have bought some on the fly for my grandmother/aunt’s house instead of those cheap Asahi and 3D ones. Curved blades + 90W is basically unheard of in the Philippines since like the 1960s

I think Krisbow is an Indo exclusive company. Its parent company runs the whole Ace Hardware of Indonesia & is generally a large business empire. I think that's why they're able to import these fans & sell them at a price on par with KDKs, and below Panasonic. You should definitely get one of these if you have the chance to visit Indonesia!

As per the longevity of the Chinese-style spinner motors as opposed to the Japanese-style plastic-housing motors, I’ve seen stamped-steel, Chinese-made SMCs here last decades. While I’ve also seen cheaper fans in places like the Philippines fail a lot. I guess it works when done right The local-market SMC K-series’ have aluminum blades instead of steel, so that also puts less load on the motor
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
That's true, I guess the fans that I grew up with shaped my mind about how reliable different ceiling fan motor styles are. I think the difference in blade material only effects the initial startup torque of the motor, instead of how much power the fan has to draw in order to keep the blades spinning at cruising speed. I could be wrong though

@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
Tahun 2020 lalu mereka jual kipas ini dgn bentuk dinamo sedikit berbeda. Yang pasti kualitas regulatornya jauh lebih tinggi daripada kelas Sanex dll, percikan api nya minim

Another thing the ones in HK have that these lack are splittable canopies. Allows you to hang the fan on a low ceiling with a short downrod without canopies getting in the way. Wish that was standard tbh (Though I wouldn’t mind too much about sacrificing a canopy if I put one on a low ceiling lol)
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
I hardly see anyone here install large ceiling fans on downrods so short that split canopies are required. I think some Malaysian Panasonic ceiling fans are sold with split canopies within the country, but the ones they export to Indonesia don't have them

@@TheFanUniverse I sometimes see it here. A family friends’ house has two K56s installed by the landlord on a standard 2.5m/8’2.5” ceiling. Ironically they’re a quite tall family (dad 6’1, daughters about 6’), but the fans are on tiny downrods making them decently high enough, just under the 2.3m/7’6 mark. I went there in the summer and jacked the one in the living room up to high and it was awesome lol. Still absolutely cranked despite the curved blades being so close to the ceiling

That's interesting. I just got my hands on a 56" Airflow, which is basically a KN56. That thing came with a ridiculously short downrod, but airflow is on par with 90's Matsushita. I guess ceiling fans can still operate with very short downrods, but it's probably not the best for high ceilings
@katthefanenthusiast5793
@katthefanenthusiast5793 8 месяцев назад
@@TheFanUniverse Yeah, I’ve seen fans mounted ridiculously high up, like, on downrods designed for 8’6” ceilings. But it’s always good to have it as an option for low ceilings

I think these are geared more for industrial & commercial applications. A fan like this installed in a standard 3m ceiling livingroom would be far too powerful
@katthefanenthusiast5793
@katthefanenthusiast5793 8 месяцев назад
Tbh if the low speed was slow enough I’d love that on a 3m ceiling, even a 2.5m ceiling if I can get it high enough off the floor. I love having turbo mode as an option lol
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
A viewer of my channel recently installed one of these in his living room that has a 10m ceiling, he added a custom long downrod to the fan to help it perform better. I'd much rather have this type of install than one that's very close to my head lol

@@TheFanUniverse I’d cut it, even modify a canopy, to keep it at about 2.3m high (the ones at my family friends’ house are 2.25m-ish). Is even that too low for you? (Strictly out of curiosity) But yeah, these would be awesome on high ceilings (speaking from experience from the HK versions)

This looks and performs very similar to a Jamuna Super Deluxe Plus which can be found in our country Bangladesh
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 8 месяцев назад
Really? I thought Jamuna only focused in selling Chinese made Matsushita knockoff ceiling fans. I've seen your video of a 56" Jamuna fan, and it does seem like a high performance fan, but I'd honestly like to know the general public's opinion about Jamuna fans, as they seem to be the only people selling steel bladed ceiling fans in the sea of aluminium blade ceiling fans.

Another thing is that the Super Deluxe Plus models run a bit slower than the Super Deluxe ones but also have a much longer spindown time which is interesting

I just saw the company’s video of their manufacturing plant, and it does seem that your Jamuna fan is equipped with aluminium blades. I don’t think the same can be said with the Matsushita knockoff units though
