i legit was thinking to myself “if she asked me this, i wouldn’t want to say Idina because technically that is the truth full answer but i would wanna go sing with her” 😂
This was more of a set-up than they're letting on. I mean this is in front of the First Lady. And yes, even cooler that composer of the musical Schwartz was accompanying. Btw, probably wasn't much of a deal a year ago, but notice Harvey Weinstein sitting right next to Michelle Obama.
Of all the students Kristen has sung with, this girl is by far the only one that KNOW how to actually sing this song, with emotion, not strength. So amazing 💙💙💙
You also notice that Kristin looks at Rachel almost all the way through. And only looks away when she knows that Rachel is confident of hitting the notes.
yes. that was a brilliant acting choice for a young performer. To use what she was feeling in the moment and the actual circumstances to make it real for her.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate how extremely talented this girl is - the whole song is great but just listen to 4:06 for the point she totally owns the performance 💖💖💖
Kristin Chenowith is hands down the most generous performer ever! I’ve seen many clips of her with “non-professionals” & she always gives them encouragement, support & all the grace she possesses! Kudos Kristin! ❤️
I sat here and cried my stinkin eyes out. What a sap I am! I can't help it because this is such a special moment for this little girl. A major star standing next to her and singing. Chenoweth is so kind. God bless her heart.
This is TALENT, and wouw how wonderful Kristin is blending with her so beautiful. Music making. Rachel IS every word she speaks/sings. When handled with care she will be on Broadway, I'm sure about that. Hard working and luck.
Great musicians are just on a whole different level from the rest of us. When two or more them get together and perform you see the amazing connections as artists that they share when they both speak the same language of music... magical music.
I have to place a comment. She's really good, and I hope broadway notices her. Good luck to your journey, and please pursue singing. The world needs to hear your voice.
Wow! This version was a amazing!!! My favorite song from this musical, Rachel did it justice. I almost cried, it was so emotional. She is talented, she should try out for the Wicked movie in 2019. Outstanding!!!! Both of them!!!
Sandy Corder Matlock I’m a grown man and I got choked up watching this video. Maybe a little tear (or two). I don’t even know why. Just don’t tell my toxic masculine buddies.
This song has meant a lot to me and has reminded me of a friend that's meant the world to me. The lyrics ring true for me. Kristin and Rachel were great.
I think this one has become my favorite. A lot of the others seem to powerhouse through, but I like how Rachel dialed back in parts to give it nuance. Just a really great performance.
Please forgive me for what I am about to say. I love this duet. This is by far the best for me. Miss Kristin always delivers a perfect song, I'm sure many would agree with me. Rachel Levy is a greenhorn? She is so authentic as a good witch. Love her voice, the diction, the innocence and sweetness she projects. No shrill belting or theatrics. Great, sweet performance. Oh, and the pianist, he looks genuinely thrilled watching the two. Thank you for sharing.
This is so beautiful!! Kristen Chenoweth is so warm and just exudes nurturing love. And what a darling young talent I hope she gets to Broadway.! You can tell she adores Kristen- such a sweet duet!
Oh goodness, a little tear came out of my eye! I'd be insanely jealous (Kristin AND Stephen on piano?!) but I'm not because what a gorgeous voice Rachel has! Amazing. :)
I've been obsessed with Wicked since I saw the show on broadway in 2018!!! Defying gravity and for good are my favorite songs, I also know all the words to those songs!!
As an actor that's done theater for twenty years, I know the assertion that they've never sung together before can only be part of the story. Number one, this is the White house. This girl wasn't chosen randomly from the audience. She was definitely a very talented plant!!! and while they may technically have never sung this together before, I would bet a giant pile of money that the producers had them rehearsing with others singers doing other woman's part.
You are so generous to your fans. I know when I see this ... you sang this song a million times. You made her musical life. Good for you. I'd love to see you do a piece with Dolly. For real.
