most of the new retro wave genre is like 80s tribute with a modern spin. theres something different about kristines sound that sets her apart from the rest of the majority of new retro wave. her music sounds like legit, authentic straight from the 80s, its almost as if someone went through an abandoned recording studio or radio station and found a dusty box of dat tapes marked 'unreleased kristine tracks' and listened to them and thought damn, who is kristine and why werent these given air time, the world needs to hear these lost gems and they uploaded them to the interwebz!
Man, someone has finally put it into words. I don't know of any new retro artist that feels as authentic as this one. Foret De Vin is worth mentioning, still a distant second tho.
Best rendition of the 80's ive ever heard. This song would have made it #1 on the charts back then. I WISH they played music like this on the radio nowadays.
Same, I am gonna have this playing through my custom playlist all the way til the time I am lying on my inevitable deathbed. By the way, awesome profile name. Long live Synthwave.
Kristine, your voice, your music, the vibrations, the frequencies, the perfection, the completely perfect encapsulation of all that is good and beautiful in this world, the nostalgia and pure bliss you instill in me, the connection you give me to the infinite multiverse, I am forever grateful, forever in your debt, for giving this music to the world, and in turn, to me. Thank you forever and eternal, infinite and beyond the unknown. Lots of darkness in this world, lots of pain and misery, chaos and terror, and the world needs this, needs you, and those like you, great minds, giving us lost in the maelstrom of existence a sense of hope within the hopelessness, a reason to get up in the morning and go through the day without giving up. You are an inspiration, and you have my undying gratitude.
Back of my mind In another place and time Can't tell time Waiting for you Fell in love while In another place and time T-t-t-tell me why I've been waiting for you You give no modern love This is no modern love Dangerous the world For a modern love We belong to a different world We belong to the summer sun With the radio on It's the way that this love goes Dancing to the rhythm of a beating heart And time just comes and goes away Back of my mind In another place and time Can't tell time Waiting for you Fell in love while In another place and time T-t-t-tell me why I've been waiting for you You give no modern love I need no modern love Dangerous the world For a modern love And time just comes and goes away And time just comes and goes away.
@@Robbeurobeat for now it would seem. Her last post on Instagram was back in 2020. Alluded to making more music but that was then. someone can correct me if they know more.
My favorite neo-80's artists are Power Glove, Lazerhawk, Perturbator, Mitch Murder, anything Johnny Jewel has his hands on (Chromatics, Symmetry, Desire), Electric Youth, College... and now Kristine.
This song is so perf. I started listening to neo-80s music after I found Kavinsky a couple of months ago. I have been checking out other artists and I stumbled upon Kristine and zomg. This music is the best. Nostalgia sets in.
I was born 1985 but was definitely born to late lol this is such amazing music unless I was aware of its release date I would swear it was hits from the 80s or the soundtrack for gta vice City lol
I discovered Kristine and the entire Retro Wave genre by complete accident. I was searching for lyrics that turned out to be by the Cranberries and I clicked on several videos looking for the song and I stumbled across this, and I have been in love with NewRetroWave ever since. My faves are Kristine, Moonrunner83, Catherine Moan, Dana Jean Phoenix and September 87. I , having been born ( in my current incarceration ) in 1994 , feel that I really missed out on a fantastic time.
Thanks for mentioning Catherine Moan and September 87, I haven't heard about them as I felt out of the retro wave loop a couple years ago. But I always go back to Kristine's music and once in a while check on her fb page hoping to see her second album is out. I was born in late 1970s, so I remember the 80s but I gotta say for many people nostalgia paints them sweeter than they really were. But when it comes to music, it's not nostalgia, or maybe only in small part. Most of the 80s mainstream music did sound great back then, and it still sounds great, even timeless now. In comparison, I had a blast living in the 90s, being a carefree teenager, but the 90s music, the mainstream felt, and still feels, mostly cringeworhy or underwhelming in comparison (obviously there are exceptions). 2000s and 2010s mainstream? I'm like, give me back my 80s! Anyway, what I meant to write is don't be sorry you were born too late. I missed out on the great 60s and can't remember the 70s, but we still have that great music to experience, on yt, and some of those bands are even still active. My only advice, speaking as an old(er) fart, if you ever have a chance to attend a concert and see you idols (from the 80s or any other decade), just go there or else you might regret it. One of the biggest regrets I have is not going to a Roxette concert 🥲
Kristine you are an untapped talent. Your 80's Miami Retro beat is AMAZING!!! You're TRUE TALENT!!! I subscribed to you and will BLAST your Music in my Vette topless and tell EVERYONE who YOU Are!!!
Sitting on my balcony by myself during corona pandemic in the summer heat while listening to this and feel like this song gives me some kind of hope for the future.
I've been wondering, too. Last time she posted anything anywhere was in July 2020, and has been silent ever since. Don't know what to make of it, but I'm pretty uneasy thinking what could have happened.
Omg i just found out this stuff is new and not from the 80s .... I can only pray for the day this music becomes popular again!!! Anybody know of any other artists that are doing this as well. I know chromeo ia kinda 80a
Check out FM Attack. They have some great songs & the album Déjà Vu has Kristine on a few tracks. Look up on RU-vid Sunglases Kid "1980s Summer Breakup" with Dana Jean Phoenix on vocals. So good!! :) the channels Maniac Synth and NewRetroWave have a lot of interesting music. You have to wade through a lot of average to below average stuff but I've found some really fun songs there. Maybe check out Garth Knight, Dynatron, College, Arcade High, Miami Nights 1984, Mitch Murder, New Arcades, Starforce.. Most of them do instrumentals but I still enjoy the music.
Oh thanx. Most of those bands at the end of ur comment there i knew about and downloaded there stuff but fm attack ill check it out.... Have u heard of a band called "Dance with the dead" they have one ep and a whole album u shoud check it out.... There song "Thrasher" is amazing ....
Actually this kind of retro synthpop has been very popular for a few years now (hence the huge amount of releases). Synthpop influences in general, for pop music, have always been mainstream. When looking at the Billboard top 100 today, you won't find many songs that are not influenced by synthpop. For this very reason, it is also very common to find mainstream pop radio stations implementing a significant amount of 80s songs, this style has never been "unpopular", albeit not always in the very pure form as it is found in this song.
I just hope we can start finding this music on mainstream radio...lets be honest todays music suck!!! Lady gaga katy perry WHAT THE HECK IS THAT... ITS PAIN TO MY YEARS... BUT U REALLY CANT BLAME THOSE ARTISTS ITS THE PEOPLE OF TODAYS SOCIETY AND THE RECORD LABELS THATS RUINING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY
