In this episode we take the 4WD track from Cania Gorge up into the Kroombit Tops National Park to visit the Wartime crash site of the Beautiful Betsy. This American bomber crashed nearly 80 years ago in this remote region without any indication of where it crashed.
The plane wreck was discovered by National Park rangers doing a control burn in the area nearly 50 years after it disappeared. It is a really tragic story that is told on the various plaques that have been installed at this historic site.
Most of the plane is in small pieces testament to the force at which it hit the side of the mountain. Most of the wreck is still exactly where it landed all those years ago and is now a memorial to those who lost their lives in their service to our and other countries in time of war.
Rose tells the tragic story of the individuals in this moving tribute to those who served.
Join us as we travel through this beautiful region taking in farmland, cattle properties and the Kroomit Tops National Park from our caravan back at Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat.
