Except for the gold comment. That was straight ignorance. Gold is one of the best assets to own. Only the "conscious" cats of the 90s-early 00s followed that trend because it made it seem like they were more intellectual. When in reality, real intellect would have been there encouraging their audience to invest in assets like gold and silver instead of the fake knowledge that Nas, Talib Kweli, Common, and a lot of these neo-soul (I know Nas isn't neo-soul) were going on about.
@@Casanovaelrey Lmao, I love it the most when ignorance manifests itself as “smartness,” like it does with your smart-ass comment. How would people make money off of gold if they didn’t “know” to? The very nature of that arrogant ass comment you made serves as a direct rebuttal to the point you were trying to prove. Gold is one of the most valuable assets?? Pfft. Even if we lived in an ideal world where the value of the gold only continues to gradually increase ( _which it doesn’t_ ), the amount of time that it takes for it to be worth the investment could have been spent in *much more productive* ventures than simply trying to focus on the gold and nothing else and just riding it out in a low paying job in the meantime. The overhead that it would take for you to be making substantial money off of gold in the long term would be completely infeasible to somebody trying to make it out of the streets *right now.* The yearly percentage increase of the value of your investment is minimal in the case of hedging your bets on a material like gold. Knowledge is how you have a job and master it. Knowledge is how you develop skills and abilities that last you for the rest of your life once developed. If you do learn a skill and master it, and learn how to properly convey its (and _your_ ) value (also through knowledge), you’re able to make a living *out of nothing.* You can walk the streets in charge of your own schedule, a completely free man who isn’t tied down as a slave to a 9-5 job simply trained by an educational system that was designed to create factory workers, all because you invested in *yourself* instead of some bullshit trend (just like gold is, regardless of how steady and reliable its growth seems to be for you). Take it one step further and get good enough at this business to train people to perform the skill that you perform, and you’re developing a semi-passive income. Take it one step further than that and show people how to do _the entirety of what I was just saying,_ and now you’re potentially a free man who never has to work a day in his life again if you do it wisely. Does this happen a lot? No. *Can* it happen? Abso-fucking-lutely it can, and the ignorance of implying that you can’t use knowledge to develop wealth that immensely overshadows the corny little 25% yearly boost (a number that purposefully outperforms the true growth trend of gold on even the best years) of gold is far worse than whatever you think conscious emcees were guilty of. Yes, I’m aware of exponential growth and what would happen if you double the value of a penny for thirty days, just bear with me - even using the low of gold and buying a shit ton when it was around $250/oz around 1999, and somehow knowing to sell it all precisely at around $1700/oz in 2012 (I’m grossly exaggerating my point in your favor on purpose), that’s a 6x profit in 13 years. If you were living on the streets in 1999 and were actually able to somehow muster $100k ( _living on the streets,_ mind you - I’m taking the value that you claim gold has and creating a disgusting hyperbole out of it… I’m not even going to get into the implications behind spending $100k on something you can’t utilize while living in a low-income area and what you would have to do next to survive), you would have gained $600k over 13 years. Whoop-dee-doo - that’s less than $50k/yr of money _that was rendered completely worthless to you in an entire stretch of over a decade because you wouldn’t have been able to use it as a liquid asset_ - enough to match a mediocre job. Hindsight is 20/20, so there’s no way you would have “known” to do this in the most effective way beforehand, regardless of how smart you think you are on the topic now, looking back. “But it’s passive!” Yeah, sure - “passive” gambling and taking an inherently deep risk all for hoping for some magic lottery payout later on in life. Sure, you could make different decisions (like continuing to invest as you made money, etc.) for you to maximize the profit, but that would require * knowledge * (today’s magic word). Plus, since knowledge is so worthless, you wouldn’t have been able to rely on * anything else * for money other than your dead-end, blow-your-brains-out, soul-draining job that you were LUCKY to get (since you don’t fucking know anything) in the meantime. By the way, the example I gave earlier regarding potentially creating a passive income was ONE of _countless_ manifestations of the value of knowledge (and we’re not even getting into the value of wisdom here, Mr. Pedestal). Sure, there’s a risk involved there as well, but you’re stretching yourself and getting more resilient in the face of the unknown (you can’t make the same argument for waiting around for gold simply because that’s inherently uncertain too), which would easily translate to becoming *much* more effective in new ventures in the event that you did fail. The requirement for creating an extremely high-paying source of income out of nothing? *Knowledge.* The requirement for being creative enough to develop something that makes money for you with minimal active time investment? *Knowlege.* The magic thing worth more than a Lamborghini in that corny Tai Lopez video? *Knowledge.* Sit your “smart” ass down and shut the fuck up. Go make more money on gold and Bitcoin than an entrepreneur gaining traction and true momentum on an extremely valuable service that he provides since you’re so superior. If you try to turn around and use COVID as a rebuttal to my points, suurrrrre... _of course_ *that's* the reason why you would have said investing in gold is better than using that to invest in yourself and your own ventures / life learning a year ago
He was pretty damn good here. I recall from a different video that he said KRS One is his all time favorite, so he had no choice but to show out on that day
Freestlying is fun. When you're good at it. I used to do this all the time at school during lunch and recess from about 3rd grade and I think the last time I freestyled was when I was 13. It's fun if you can do it but I'd have to practice before even think about battlin somebody it's been so long.
I can tell the difference between written freestyles and off the top freestyles. These are def. off the top freestyles! Props to Big Tigger and the legend KRS One!
KRS ONE Freestyle is a extra BONUS treat!!! His complete rap game as a writer entertainer he is the BEST EVER constant 40 years dope hits all your other favorite rappers came and went!!! So when yall say underrated ya slippin!!!
Man, Rap City was life back then. The Basement introduced me to so many rappers and put me onto so many of the greatest freestylers. Man, we really need this again.
Tig is by far one of the few "freestyler's" that actually freestyle correctly. When someone (a rapper) is rapping about the current situation directly in front of them like what Tigga does..., THAT'S real freestyling. There is only a few I've heard do that (Eminem, Jin, KRS1, and Luda)
DOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!! Of course, I knew that Tha Teacher would kill it in the booth in tha basement. KRS-ONE embodies hip-hop. Shout-out to Big Tig and Rap City. I feel blessed to have caught so many of these freestyle moments, "live," back in the day, when true hip-hop was still accessible to the masses, before it was driven, back, underground. Long live hip-hop.
Krs one is one of the nastiest mcs to ever spit on the mic. Notice how he got tigger on the mic in the middle of the freestyle. Always showing respect to lesser mc. This mans a legend. Forever
first, I loved Tigger doing "Step into the Rapture" at the start second, Kris is so intelligent and he shows it when he isnt stroking his own ego, a lot of the stuff he spit still holds weight today third, Tigger gotta be one of the most underrated on the mic, this dude be spittin some cold freestyles
Chief Keef wouldn't be doing rap if KRS ONE didn't rap. There could've been no future if there was no past. Whoever that guy was that said that garbage needs to stay off the drugs for real. I agree with you man. :D
Knowledge reign supreme over nearly everybody Call up KRS guaranteed to rip the party! KRS..... I'm not saying he's #1 Oh wait a minute I lied He's #1, 2, 3, 4, and 5!!!!!
I always respect it Big Tigger he always freestyled I remember when I used to watch rap City and when I would hear somebody's album I was like wait a minute they spit that same line on that freestyle on rap City there was a lot of rappers who used to go in there and repeat lines from upcoming albums and nobody would pay attention because the album was not out yet but I always would catch a few people repeating some things
Another thing is KRS ONE he don't unload fully most of the time in freestyles unless he want's too and feel like shocking the audience but he trick rappers not doing his best at times making them think they better or nicer but BATTLE HIM, self destruction your head for self destruction!! Give him a reason to get real raw yo I heard many freestyles from this dude people be like DAM!!!! you heard dat BLASTMASTER KRSONE DA TEACHA fan since I was 16 i'm 44 year now and still amazed in 2015! HIP HOP CULTURE WE REP DAT!
lol didn't even see your comment, but exactly my thoughts and wrote a comment saying how usually he doesn't spit heavy wording in freestyles, but when he does and he has the chemistry with the other freestylers he unloads that heat!
Now is HIP HOP not about bragging how righ how many cars and woman you have respect fun one love and carrying for your people and for everyone else KRS ONE
all these kids saying hes overrated I cant believe it. Guess what kiddies, 99% of those "freestyles" you see, are written. Don't get me wrong I understand wanting to promote yourself as lyrically as possible when you get a chance to get on but I promise you whenever you ask krs to freestyle, you will get one off the top.
Agreed..., Tig is by far one of the few "freestyler's" that actually freestyle correctly. When someone (a rapper) is rapping about the current situation directly in front of them like what Tigga does..., THAT'S real freestyling. There is only a few I've heard do that (Eminem, Jin, KRS1, and Luda)
2024 and I’m still here, 1980’z baby 🫡🫡🫡 I swore he said no Diddy 🤦🏾♂️ Been listening to Cam and Mase. The dudes say no Diddy every 10 minutes 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
My homey sent me a letter but there was one tricky thing he did. KRS-One signed the back of the envelope. It sucks I couldn't be at the concert and my homey knew that. Rad gift.
When it comes down to it krs one is the illest with the flow and vocabulary. Just like method man but with concious lyrics and more complex patterns, but smooth delivery and entertaining.
