Good video. I just bought one so this video should be a big help down the road. Would be nice though if you responded to some of the questions on here.
really great vid. just wish they accepted these for repairs or maintenance. also wish they came with more grease on these, as others have said they are slow to rise. can only keep my hand on the lever and stand to pedal for so long, lol.
I bought my son a used bike with this post on it. Very slow to rise. Started taking it apart to maintenance and I can’t get the cartridge out for the life of me. 🤦🏻♀️ with a bit more effort I was able to unthread from the top with a 4mm Allen but I can not get that end cap off. Perhaps I have an older version….
Hi There....I am having problem with the Cartridge as it dose not hold my weight and slowly comes down....is there a way I can fill more air in it or do I have to get a new air cartridge?.....Please let me know....thank you
The actuator cable might be too tight which will leave the internal valve slightly open. The pin just below the cable/cam lever could be slightly stuck as well which would also leave the internal valve slightly open.
like many owner's eten my seat drop goes down just with my weight and goes up alone. it seemed to be an affordable seat drop but with only 1 year of using it's quite expensive in fact...
I just opened my Exaform Vareo-R (by kindshock) dropper post, that is almost the same as the eTen. There is no ring like at 2:30. How can I pullout the inner part?
The aluminium cap thingy thats threaded in the end. I noticed if i don't thread it all the way inside it lowers my maximum height of the stanchion. Is it safe? I bought a 150mm travel and my bike fit needs me to lower it to a few cm. Turning the aluminium at the bottom to its lowest helps me get that proper seat height.
Like others i have an Eten R and my end cap fits flush. I can unscrew it from the outter black shell, but unable to unscrew it from the cartridge. I have a strap wrench on the cartridge but the end cap simply spins. It is as if the end cap it threaded into a helicoil and the helicole is spinning. Any thoughts?
The cartridge assembly has to be unthreaded from the top of the post with an allen wrench after removing the plunger, spring and rod in order to remove it completely.
Hello, I have a problem with my brand new eten r - I rode with it twice and everthing worked just perfect. After that have a one week brake and now it won't compress at all. I've double checked everything, dismounted it and found that the actuator wan't drop itself. Any clues how to fix it?
Anyone else's dropper collar absolutely not budge? I used strap wrench and vise grips with an old inner tube wrapped around a couple times. Just wont loosen
@kssuspension do you have any solution or fix for the piston? Its mushy and gets stuck, it does not return the lever back to its position unless I pump it a couple of times but regardless of this it does not hold and 20 to 25% of the post drops. I keep my bike clean and well lubed all the time, help. Thanks
when i drop my seatpost down, the seat clamp part pinches the upper seal. is this normal? also mt dropper had side to side play out of the box. mine is the internally routed model
Too bad this KS ETEN design/service is sooooo much more complicated than the RockShox Reverb (which requires master mechanic skills to service)! JK;) I love this affordable, basic & reliable seat post!
My post worked for about 6 months. Now it drops when I sit on it and rises on it's own. Is maintenance worth the cost since the dropper in inexpensive?
Apparently you unscrew from the top with a 4mm hex key (go the opposite way since you'd be holding the threads upside down). The cartridge push button was seized, so I had to tap it all the way down with a pin and hammer to reach the hex key slot. The cartridge is trash, but replacements are on ebay or amazon for $30.
+Joseph Tatone I have one of these. I had the same problem initially, and it was easily fixed by adjusting the cable. But over time the actuator appears to lose its strength and will not return properly. As mentioned in the video, it is important to keep the actuator recess clean, but its design is such that riding in muddy/dirty conditions captures grit in the recess. Mine is in for warranty repair after less than a year's use, but it's been over 3 months and have not seen it yet.
Recently picked up one of these dropper posts but after 4 weeks it won't drop? any ideas? P.S I've adjusted the tension of the cable etc but still no joy..
The post in this video uses a sealed/pressurized cartridge that returns it to the top. If it is bad, you need to replace it and they go for about $32.00
My eten-r end cap looks different than the one in the video and it will not come out. It is flush with the end, but still has the 5mm. I have bent two allen wrenches trying to remove it. Any ideas?
I received the below from KS support, and I did steps 1-4 and the post is now working perfectly again. After the pushrod came out (step3), I held the post upside down and sprayed wd40 with the cans spray tube up in the pushrod hole. A bunch of dirt and grit came out. Kept spraying until the wd40 came back out clean. I then put some rubbing alcohol in the tube to clear out the wd40. re-lubed the pushrod with KS post paste and reinstalled. From KS customer service. I would try tapping the bottom of the seat post to break the bond loose on the cap. As for your seat post not working properly, is it just slow to return and drop? I would suggest taking the lever from your seat post off to check and see if the pushrod is sticky or rusty. 1. remove the lever under the seat clamps with allen 2. pull out the piston head (looks like bead) with needle nose pliers along with the spring. 3. tap your seat post upside down and the pushrod should fall out. 4. Check to make sure the pushrod is lubricated If you are still having issues, then it may be best to send it in to us.
The cartridge assembly has to be unthreaded from the top of the post with an allen wrench after removing the plunger, spring and rod in order to remove it completely. Make sure you turn the wrench clockwise due to the thread orientation.
Why are there no instructions on how to assemble the lever?! The lever is not assembled and has a few components to put together to operate the seatpost remotely....instructions are non-existent for this. 😕
