The Hiss and Rosenberg cases among many others proved that communist espionage was a serious problem. However, it was a mistake for McCarthy to have insulted his critics as shown here.
Lucille Ball was a card carrying member of the communist party and when confronted didn't deny it but said her father suggested it since they sounded pro worker. Now she may have really been duped but she was married to a Cuban ( from a communist country), and with those red flags needed to be cleared of wrong doing. You'd say the same now since I'm sure you're anti-Putin.
If you question the American involvement in the Ukraine war you are branded a Putin puppet or a Russian asset...same thing as then only this time by the democrats and the so called progressives. I don't want a nuclear war with Russia and consider their Western border to be their business...
McCarthy was a narcissist. He ruined people's lives. There were/are communist in this country. He never touched KKK. They killed people that were not of their color. There were also soldiers, scientists from the camps who escaped and moved here. He didn't get them either. He picked on Americans who may have read some literature or he had a gripe with. He wasn't honest.
10:20 McCarthy didn't do anything un-American, a senator is required to take the Oath of Office: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;" Foreign and DOMESTIC.
@@emmap1159 why would you even bring her up unless you were one of those subhuman trump supporters!? But of course you're not! Why would you hate yourself....well? THAT much?
Accusing the military of harboring communists because your closeted lawyer felt his newly enlisted boyfriend shouldn't be stuck amongst the riff Raff... Attacking the United States Army is wholly, abjectly unAmerican!
I literally hate communism but he LIEEEEED and he ruined so many lives, he compromised freedoms in order to try and protect it, dude your really not helping our case. honestly this just kinda reminds me of Nazi tactics
Hahahahahahah, are kidding me? The problem wasn't him being right or wrong, the problem was he made his position so monstrously evil that any real attempt at flushing out actual soviet agent was made impossible. There was even a joke at the time that he was a soviet agent doing all this to help further communism. He wasn't a hero or doing some good thing, he was a craven little coward using people's lives to make himself look good, targeting people in such a way to elicit power to him, and had he really cared he wouldn't have been such a cunt.
@@rithvikmuthyalapati9754 , many of the people accused were real radical left-wingers like we have today, today the majority of Hollywood is anti American
he was obviously a communist agent sent by LBJ, its the most logical explanation. And the conspiracy was so deep no one wanted to get connected. LBJ was a fucking democrat communist. The democrats were always the communists.
Joe was right and if he was able to investigate the army he would have found oswald sooner and Kennedy might have been re elected in 64 and maybe the Vietnam war never would have happened.
@@johnkudasik3133 This is so dumb. Oswald being socialist didn't lead to Kennedy's death. If a capitalist killed Kennedy, that means capitalists should be punished for forever? You think they're all some crazed murderers? Your argument makes no sense and doesn't even hold any weight when questioned. What if they never even determined Oswald was a communist? There's no good reason to believe Mccarthy was even accurate in his hearings - he smeared and lied to get his way.
