Martin Scorsese's ridiculous film is nowhere near historically accurate. The Senate hearings took place in 1947, Howard's screening room incident didn't occur until 1958. He I don't know why he decided to make it seem like the two events coincided with eachother.
He was a thoroughly terrific chap , weighed down by a condition , a problem which led him to his premature death . Sadly , there was no understanding of his condition at the time. May he continue to Rest in Peace.
The thumbnail pic of elderly man is not Howard Hughes. Firstly no photos exist of him during the final years of his life when he was total recluse. Secondly as this video describes an eye witness hospital staff account of Hughes body in the hospital morgue describes him having dark scruffy hair which is inconsistent with the almost bald man in the photo.
He died from long time abuses of drugs , specially addicted to codeine which he injected intramuscularly . That’s one of reason he died from kidney failure . His diets were New York steak every day and no shower for months . His billion dollars couldn’t add one minute of his life .
He died from OCD in an age where there was no diagnosis, nor treatment, but only stigma that accused him of being 'an eccentric recluse.' Today things would have been very different for Hughes. Despite this prejudice against him, he was a 'genius' and how he managed to battle OCD while making world records in both film and aviation, fought the corrupt CAB Bill against him, is a testament to the man's 'guts' and fortitude. I'm 52 and I have suffered from OCD since I was 9. In many ways Hughes is my hero as he was never afforded the 'luxury' if you like, of an acceptance and diagnosis that OCD is a medical condition and I still battle with it. He was never given this option and made incredible achievements in spite of his diagnosed OCD. Such a brave man in a time of ignorance at it's worst.

Howard Hughes lived one hell of a great life when he was younger. He was a prodigious inventor and I think held dozens of patents. He was a genious. After a couple of very serious accidents and a couple of scrapes with the Government, he went into seclusion and just wanted his privacy
What an incredible man and life he lived... I've been fascinated by him and his accomplishments ever since I was a little boy... Here's a man that literally got to live his dreams; invented things, bought and ran a movie studio, learned to fly and design aircraft, date hot and beautiful women, I mean this guy had it all and could do whatever he wanted because he could afford it, and he did! As far as I know, he never lost any money except what he invested personally into the Spruce Goose, and well, what can I say, Howard Hughes was a genius, and at the same time, had the Midas touch, whatever he touched turned to Gold! It was a photo taken by a Vancouver Sun photographer of a guy beloved to be Hughes during Hughes stay in Vancouver in 1972. 5ere were no photos of the real Hughes taken at that time, though it is interesting that Hughes walked into the hotel on his own wi5out the assistance of his aides, as told by Gordon Margulis at that time.
6:45 he almost let it out . there were dozens of needles broken off in the mans arms and severe bruises all over. they certainly could've put him on dialisis to keep him alive and give him new kidneys'. it was not a natural death.

Thankfully the state of Nevada found his only one relative, a lawyer in Houston who was his cousin and gave him all his money and properties , totalling US$ 6 billion dollars in 1976 . That cousin built the biggest neighborhood in Vegas and named it after their grandmother Summerlin.

Daniel Lawrence You have to consider head injury and drug addiction were the end result of his crashes. Even his OCD behavior probably didn't begin until then. It's sad really, anyone with less money wouldn't have been able to call the shots like he did and might have gotten help.

Besides the fact that he was a rare genius and came from family of ingenuitive people , the sad part about him he never had kids and didnt make a good husband . Even throw he dated the prettiest models of that time , the women found him to be weird. He was just great at what he did.

I suspect the "last photograph of Howard Robard Hughes" isn't HRH at all. This clip collection includes old news footage of a woman, Customs Inspector Marie Denton, who personally saw the head/face of Hughes' dead body and she describes him as having "dark, crumpled hair". The so-called "last photograph" shows a man with very thin gray hair.
That isn't a photo of Howard. It's a photo of one of his doctors. The last known photo of Howard was taken in 1973 when he went flying for the last time. Jack Real stuck a newspaper in front of his face, so all you get to see is from the neck down.
From Janet Leigh's memoir, and her 1996 interviews on YT, he was painfully insecure as a person. This would be the root cause of the OCD. He never had the balls to come up to her and ask her out until it was too late. He chased her for years in creepy ways.. lol

He funded a multi billion dollar medical research institute that has worked every day for many decades to extend your life. He held many patents in the early days of jet aircraft that contributed to allowing you to fly today instead of swim across the Atlantic. He invented an electrical hospital bed to let you be comfortable when you're recovering in a burn unit. What have YOU done for us?
I have no sympathy for him after hearing that he deceived that poor young woman into "marrying" him, taking her virginity, throwing the log into the water to destroy the record of it and then leaving her like used up garbage. Tom D His finger nails were not inches long that's a myth perpetuated by the Irving false biography and others who read it. There is simply no credible evidence of that even from the autopsy report. Secondly he did have a mental illness regarding germ phobia and some serious drug dependency problems but he was far from a nutcase. In fact quite the opposite. Even despite his severe phobia he managed to keep tight control over his vast business empire by phone and hand written notes to trusted representatives which is quite remarkable really. He was at that time still a major employer and defence industry contractor to the United States government.
That's very interesting , I do remember seeing a picture of him with his long finger nails and long hair , while wearing an oxygen mask, I suppose he was used to bossing lots of people around, to get what he wanted, but he must have known he was not the force of old, respect to the man for his self made millions,
