I managed to sort out some video of my last trip on the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. I did 3 of 5 days of the Pyrenees ACT route. Unfortunately a tyre issue prevented me from finishing it in the time I have available. But I will be going back.
The 1290 was a phenominal bike to do this on. The huge milage due to the decision to ride through the whole length of France to Spain. However a lighter bike would have definitely been more practical. The suspension on the Super Adventure R is where it is at. You can see in the video how the suspension just soaks up all the track.
But anyway. Just remember I am just a guy like yourself messing around enjoying his bike. And these days just having a dabble on RU-vid. I am not a full time RU-vidr... Its a part time hobby. No sponsors or anything.
I hope this video gave you a version of the Pyrenees ACT that makes you want to get out there. See the landscape and all the scenery. It is as easy as booking a tickect and filling up your fuel tank. Just get out there. Dont wait on anything or anybody. Take control.... If only for a few days anyway.. You have to do this one :)

Hi Rick I KNOW your having a great time. What a epic place on a epic bike just priceless. I just installed a new Wings can on my bike with the dB killer OUT........ I just could not listen to that bike troumpt of a silencer anymore...............

Hi mate. Wicked route for sure. I seriously recommend the Portugal ACT. Personally it was far better :) And a little more demanding (in Feb anway).

Awesome video Rick as usual. Scenery and footage from your Scydio2 are excellent! I'm doing the Pyrenees later in the year and after seeing this I can't wait! Can't decide if I should take my 1290 SAS or 890 Adventure.

Hmmm. well the 1290 for me riding 1000 miles in one hit to get there was the best bike, However if it were broken down in stages I probably would take the 890... In fact I am on the 890 in a couple of days doing the Portgal ACT solo too. I look forward to seeing the difference :)

Great video with all the drone shots. Just moved onto a 2023 KTM1290SAR myself after seven years with a R1200GS. Almost went for the 890R for better offroad, but wanted the comfort of the 1290 more for the long trips. Need to choose offroad tyre: Bridgestone AX41 or Dunlop Trailmax Raid. Thoughts ?

Hiya Mark thank for the feedback mate. Congrats on the new bike too. I hope you enjoy the 1290! I’ve moved to the 890R funnily enough for the reason you mentioned 🤣 As for tyres.. you probably saw I ran both those tyres on that trip. Personally I prefer the AX41 they are a tad more aggressive but still fantastic on the tarmac when needed. At a cost of longevity.. the Trailmax Raid easily outlast the AX41 but “personally” isn’t aggressive enough. I basically compare the Trailmax Raids as a longer lasting Pirelli STR Rally. Great all round tyre for compact dry mud, rock and Forrest trails. With good road performance. But I’d hands down have the AX41 for the same but also better on loose stuff and muddier ground.. ( at cost of longevity as mentioned)

@@RicardoYeep Thanks for the info... I'm going to give the AX41's a try. I only do light trails but given we have so much mud here in the UK , I'll take all the help I can get please. Enjoy the 890, When I test rode it, I found it aggressive like it was looking for a fight and found myself riding like I was "on a mission". 1290 is laid back in comparison, that says a lot about the 890 experience. Awesome machine though.

Ciao Emiliano... Come va amico! Quanto tempo... Sì, è stato un viaggio fantastico, grazie. Sono di nuovo in partenza tra 3 giorni per fare un giro in solitaria sull'ACT del Portogallo. Il drone è uno Skydio 2 con Beacon. Erano disponibili solo negli USA. Ma l'anno scorso hanno smesso di venderli anche al pubblico. L'unico modo per averne uno è l'usato, se si riesce a trovarne uno. Ma sono molto costosi. E sono necessarie alcune batterie, perché durano in media solo 18 minuti. E nonostante le ottime riprese, non sono affidabili. Ho perso il conto di quante volte ho rischiato di perdere la mia. A volte mi capita di assistere a quasi 2.000 sterline che scompaiono da sole nel bosco e non riescono a trovare la via d'uscita finché non si schiantano da qualche parte :)

Thanks Thomas. Good luck with the trip you will love it. No its easy enough to transfer. There is plenty of how to on youtube. Basically I did it by installing Garmin Explorer App on my iphone. And also Install Garmin Connect. Import the GPX into Explorer then Sync Explorer with its icloud server. Then Sync Garmin connect. You will then have the gpx in Garmin Connect which you csn then sync to the GPS lol.. good luck

Hola, amigo mío. Por supuesto que puede hacer también en el S. He hecho un terreno más agresivo que este en mi Rally Events. Pero usted tendrá que tener más cuidado, por supuesto. Las llantas de radios son más fuertes (y todavía me las arreglé para hacer una pequeña abolladura en mi llanta delantera). Además, la S tiene un recorrido de suspensión más corto, por lo que no puedes ir por terrenos rocosos a toda velocidad. Debería ir bien :)

Excellent vid mate, fantastic footage from the drone 👍 3 of us are doing the same trip in June and I’ve bought myself a DJI mini 3 pro to take along with the GoPro although I’ve only flown it twice so far so need to get it out with the bike and learn quick, did you have the controller mounted on the bike ?

Hiya bud! Sorry been away for the last two weeks. Good luck on the drone use. It’s a bit tricky with that drone for sure. I have the phone mounted to my bars so I can see what’s happening. Although I don’t have a DJI. Just make sure you enjoy the ride and see the scenery and not over taken by standing behind a lens.. it’s easily done. You want the experience 👍🙏

Hi Neil to be honest if your simply riding roads you’ll be fine if used to tall bikes. However if you are taking it on trails and with luggage and not used to tall heavy bikes then probably not a good idea. I have a 29 inch inseam and even with low seat I can barely touch the floor. I can only do one foot at a time which I’m ok with. I’m also ok with dropping the bike if need be. Which is something a lot of people will never be comfortable with. 👍

Hi Ricardo...again nice video...got a question for you..2022 1290 adventure with this annoying the engine cuts out for a fraction of a second when accelerating from from around 3000 rpm...I've been riding it since new like this ...warranty is running late may...just curious if you have any info on this...just to lazy to search myself...lol

Hello Marcel sorry am on road trip. But in answer I don’t know a lot. I know in UK they did replace a part for some bikes under warranty. I can’t remember what part though. Flywheel/rotor springs to mind 🤦‍♂️

Hello Bud!! Sorry for late reply. Been away and still not back.. never had issues on my bike. Still love it but doesn’t fit in with what I’m presently doing. It’s an absolute animal. I’ll be going over this in a clip at some point. But have gone down from 3 bikes to 1… for now anyway 😂 although my colleagues said “whatever” I’ll be adding again 🤭

Hiya Trond. Man this was epic and set a benchmark of trips.. I seriously would do all over in a heart beat. AND solo it again. There is no part you wouldnt manage (of the 3 out of 5 days I managed) if your wanting to go solo. If its muddy though may get tricky but still not hard. Its meant for big bikes. Hope that helps.. get out there :)
