I am currently thinking the same. I have had just about any type of bike. Even high end sports bikes. But I miss the time where I had a simple big thumper. Just going anywhere, any distance. The journey in it’s simple form was the real pleausure of having a bike.
Hi Mattias, looks like a great day for a ride. A quick ride and first impression of the 390. Love your bike the 790 and your adv on it. Quite the dealership and range of motorcycles a little for everyone. Could be broke with all the toys they sell. Lol
Yes it's always fun with perspective. Ofc these bikes can't compare. Deership has both giants right now, the 790 and the T7 two winners in the stable. BMW ofc a giant on the market as well. Good folks and deserves some attention, just that they are happy to let me test bikes even if they know I'm happy already 👍👌 Cheers my friend!
Ultra nice Mattias! I took the 390 out on the same night, I belive. Nimble and really comfortable for it´s size. I reved the engine up almost to the red and it really came alive. :)
Thats sounds great! I was gentle and did not rev it to much. But thats a KTM signum, the kick starts at approx 6K. The 790 has brutal power in a rev range that I seldom use 😂. Any adventures planned?
Mattias Eriksson ”BikeGruset” www.biketrollhattan.se/content/102-bikegruset-maj-2020 of course. Apart from that I had planned 3-4 weeks down the baltic states but Corona has stopped that planning. Most definetly, 5-6 days on TET. ♥️
Thanks for the review I've been going back an forward between the 1150gsa/Himalayan an the Ktm 390 ADV had a 1200gsa te, vstrom 1000xt an a 800gs in the past Hoping to ride to Norway an Denmark where my mums family are from next year. Really interesting to learn about these bikes as a comparison to the himmy.
Thank you for sharing your videos and I would like to know if you would like to give your opinion when you have free time to review the new 2020-21 Royal Enfield Himalayan? All the best and take care.
Thanks! That would have been awsome, not fire though where there are a close dealer. But I like the idea of the Himalayan. Met a guy on TET last year with one!
I just don't think that tablet of a dash could be very durable in the sun and sand. I guess it fits more with the current throw away culture than it does with those that like to keep what they have for a long time
Thanks for your review, Mattias. The 390 could be lighter still. And have 21/18 tyres. Maybe the new GasGas 390 at EICMA in Milan next month will have that. Power would be okay with me, I'm not going fast offroad. What I need is a good connection from throttle to back wheel. Cheers from Nürnberg/Germany, Günter
This is a cool little bike with nice value for money. I agree with that the GasGas could be a better choice and what I understand it could come with 18/21, hope so 👌Pleas e report from EICMA on this 🤌🏻
I could take this bike anywhere and more. I am scared of nothing. 173 cm and 85 kg. Nothing can stop this! So comfortable with the ergo seat too which is a must! I drive it in the worst traffic in Vietnam and it goes everywhere a motobike goes too.
Hi, good videos, here on india price is around 3.7L ( 47k SEK) , but here we didn't get the frond suspension adjustment thing and some more like tyres type, But overall bike is awesome, viewer from India(chennai) ✌
Looks like a nimble little bike. Maybe this segment grows in popularity. There is a lot of solo riders tha travels around the world, not every body is six footers that weighs 220lb👍👍
Apperently the stand up position issue is from the foot pegs tilted forwards for a better seating position. I am more then 6 feet (1m86) and I liked the size of the bike. It is small and compact but not as small as I expected. I would say it is a perfect all round bike. But not a hard core off road bike, just fun trails (without rocks!!!).
Thanks for your input! Never tried the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which it should be compared to, but this 390 probably have better ergonomics and performance. We will have to more time on it regarding reliability.
@@Braapncamp I see you like knives and shoot rifles! A man of good taste! :p I have not yet done a test ride on the 390. I enjoyed your review. I got to sit on the optionnal one part seat, nice little improvement for the money.
I'm asking for advice. I want to buy a motorcycle, but I have not ridden since I was young, because there was no time. I decided to start living for my own pleasure. I have been dreaming about KTM since childhood. What to buy for 390 adv or 890 adv r? My height 182, weight 95, 390 will not be too small for me?
This is a difficult question. your meassures says 890R. But what type of rides are you going for. In my opinion the 390 is more of a capable commuter than a fun adv bike.
You were spot on when you said that this is a nice commuter bike. That’s all it is. When you were stopped at that bridge, my first thought was that the combination of the front road tyre and that smooth gravel was an instant front end lose in most circumstances. I read KTM’s publicity and they said the bike has “offroad capability to take on rougher dirt roads”. Not sure what drugs they are taking to come out with such laughable stuff. I would still recommend a new dirt rider buy a DRZ400 or Yamaha WR250R before thinking of this bike. No serious adv rider would contemplate a bike with cast wheels. I wonder how long before we read of water leak problems in that fancy screen and the usual KTM build problems. And don’t get me wrong, I own a KTM but they can’t build to the quality of Japanese bikes.
No doubt a DRZ400 or Yammy would have been the choise for serious adv. A commuter with capabilities. Front was loose on gravel when riding in down In the gravel curve for sure. No bite at all. Someone compared the engine sound to a lawnmower 😂 I say it felt like one. But fun to see what's up out there.
My mate had been to Nepal, and he saw people get around on those trails on scooters, old Enfields, all sorts of bikes through rough terrain- adventure is what you make of it😜
Looks a little small, but i think this will be a great success here in Norway! A great does it all bike and most important, you dont have to pay on toll roads 😂 great mini review my friend 👏🏻
Dude, I generally like the content that you put out. It is also understandable that you want to monetize your videos and make a little 💰 money but saturating the content with a multitude of commercials is a turn off. To each his own but if I can’t sit back and enjoy watching the video without having to constantly get up and wait 5 seconds before hitting the (skip ads) button then it just becomes more trouble to watch than its worth.
Thanks for the feedback. I will look into this with the settings. I have concidered premium membership myself to skip the comercials, but not yet as i'm "a cheap bastard" ;)
@@ericlarson63 That and many other things are very important, i probably just ment that i m econonomic in some way. Since this was posted i actually tried YT premium and are still happy. Ofc it all depends on how much of YT is consumed to concider premium. Regarding tip in restaurants i learnt at my first trip to U.S. how it works which differs from here (i learnt it the "hard" way but made up for it 😂). We tip as well even if the restsurant personnel are supposed to have full salary and tio included in the price. So when travelling we need to get the picture how it works for each country. Are You into a 390Adv?
You are right sir! I did the test ride for fun at the time with no intention to buy it myself, but was curious how it behaves. At the time there where not many videos or footage out there on this bike, except from bike magazines. So there may be someone out there that was happy with that, just see the bike in hands of someone else than testriders from magazines. However, since I have tested the bike feel free to ask any question about it and I can try to give you my opinion. Happy trails in your search for more updated info about the 390 Adv.
