Agree with most everything in this video. Hopefully you’ll be able to get the updated ride modes software soon. The MTC will still turn itself back on. But the offroad MTC and offroad ABS work really well. I’ve ridden about 800 miles offroad, and haven’t had a reason to completely turn off MTC. The offroad mode allows plenty of spin, and allows locking up the rear brake at will while keeping ABS on the front wheel.

I just bought a 2020 390 Adventure with around 3k miles on it. It already had multiple upgrades, all the things you disliked :) I took it to KTM world in GA. last week and it was a great ride, perfect on all the trails.

Yes! to everything you said. I have the 2023, with the onroad & offroad modes. These do the job in altering ABS & TC behavior, so no need to fuss further with the menu. Learned here that the earlier model has 2 rear DC outputs and the front one. 2023 only has the one on the instrument panel, so that's a downgrade. Otherwise, all good.

Cool vid. I thought that ~'22/'23 KTM updated the software to where the MTC/ABS did not reset. I brought mine in six months ago and there was no change, but I hear others have received the update. I flippin' love this bike. My Himalayan and my Harley EG Limited are seeing less and less action as time goes by. thx, S

Awesome, I’m alway happy to see that this bike does have a strong community who appreciate it. Yeah I might play with one of the bikes at the local dealership to see if I can spot any change to the software, but I’m being to suspect that KTM didn’t give them the same OFF-ROAD mode as the bigger ADV bikes. Thanks for watching!

Nice video. And can agree with what you said too. I wanted the 2022 model but i liked the colour scheme of 2021 orange and white. Had a VFR800 before so i wanted somethimg smaller not as fast and lighter. And i tell you as much as i loved my VFR my KTM puts more smiles on my face. 1) Are the handlebars you installed a direct replacement without mods? 2) What is your height, and what improvement did the bars provide? Thanks
@matthewkopf6243
@matthewkopf6243 Год назад
1) 1-1/8” bars. So needs a different mount. I believe it’s in the description. 2) I’m 5-10. Unfortunately I went with KTM bend on the bars which doesn’t have much raise. The bar mounts are taller which helped. But I didn’t get much of a gain in overall height. So a bar with more raise and the higher mounts would be better, but I’m happy with it. Hope that helps.

I just bought my Ktm adventure 2022 brand new and the off-road and ABS doesn’t reset when stalling out while riding. Only issue I have is finding the friction zone when going from a complete stop. I’ve had my bike for a week now and seeing that reviving at 3k-4k rpm is best for finding the friction zone . This engine loves running at high rpm .

@makmoto0606
@makmoto0606 Год назад
Still TKC 70 up front, but I’m seriously looking at changing it. I don’t feel real confident with that tire on the dirt. My Svartpilen has Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires and those feel pretty good off road, so I might put that up front. The back I changed to the Shinko 804 / 805 Big Block Adventure Touring Tires. The stock rear just didn’t have enough off-road traction.

@@makmoto0606 just curious why don’t you use the same brand tires front and back?
@matthewkopf6243
@matthewkopf6243 Год назад
@@jayyhieslifeadventures6207 the Shinko front tire as far as I’ve seen only comes in tube type for that size, so not really a matching set available. I just wanted more traction on the rear at first, so keeping cost down just changed the rear. The Pirelli is pretty affordable and I’m happy with its performance on and off-road. I’m not concerned about running different tires if they perform in a manner that gives me confidence.

Haha, yeah that seems to be the story at the moment, you pay an extra 20-40% over MSRP for freight, setup, and whatever else the dealer makes up. I talked to a dealer recently for a CRF300L, MSRP 5600$, OTD 8500$. They even boasted about a 500$ 5 year battery warranty. I said I could buy 5 lithium batteries for that! I got my KTM 390 OTD for about 8600$, no markups, not bad. I don’t think the new MSRP is bad considering the wheels, but the markups are insane.
