You should let KTM know that its this video that pushed me into trading my 1290 SAR in on a new 890 adventure R. Great videos showing how effective these bikes are.
I’ve received countless messages like this but don’t really have any way of letting them know The main US office is only 5 minutes from my house but so far I’ve been unable to make any solid contacts
As a new 890 owner... This video had me breathing hard just watching. Definitely a new respect for what these big bikes can possibly do and huge props to you for taking it through the paces.
Not just a dual sport, an adventure bike with cruise control and a pretty decent range! Optional heated grips, I think even heated seat... Looked like a pretty intense workout, though.
This is by far, the best of the best videos showing all what the KTM 790 Adventure R is made for. You should have slept for two days after that race. Congrats!!
I grew up in Big Bear, as a kid I rode my Honda 50 all over, as a adult I'd struggle doing this on my XT225, you are the man for showing just what a 790 is capable of in the right hands!!!
You are fully sick mate! This trails are awesome - for a hard enduro but not for baby elephant like the 790. Great fun to watch, epic fights on the twin!
Amazing video, you have some amazing skills riding. I could have never got through many of the ares you came through even if I had much smaller bike. Good job.
Insane riding! Chris Birch has nothing over you. Very impressive to be riding a big bike like the KTM 790 Adventure R in a steep field of big boulders with hardly any gap in between. 5 Star riding.
Dude that was awesome! I think this was the first time I’ve ever yelled at a RU-vid video cheering you on haha I’m definitely not doing that big bear ride lol enjoy your content cheers
Man I love the hum of that bike you seem to get better at it after the 3hr mark after you filled up really enjoyed watching this admiring your skills through the boulders and creek crossings
You're crazy man, taking an adv bike to that trail, it's like a buffalo in a deer trail. You did great though through that really challenging route, some parts were real scary and I was afraid the bike would go down more than it did. Great riding
That was ah-maz-ing... I’m picking up my 890R in a week and though there is no way in hell I would consider tackling what you did on that ride watching you kill that trail with your 790 gives me all sorts of warm and fuzzies about my choice. OUTSTANDING job!!
I have ridden these roads/trails many times in my riding career. From an 83 RM250 to a 01 YZ426 and all the bikes in between! But never would I even consider opting to ride a Harley Davidson(790!) or what ever that bike is!🤣 Yep badass for certain and congratulations on going the distance you went. I wonder if you would consider trying again, not for the fun of it but for the challenge? Now, get some rest.
This video is the reason I'm buying the 790 R this week but we'll done bro some insane riding skills KTM should sponsor you can't believe that clutch cable is so strong though insane keep it up ❤
Love this as much as the original you posted. Reminds why I’m getting the 790 R even if I’m not about to try Big Bear. Now if that boat from Austria will hurry up and get it to Calmoto .... So what was the diagnosis? You ever figure out the root cause or was it just too hot with a two cylinder banging on those super technical trails?
I have the 790 ADV-S model. I absolutely cannot imagine trying to handle such a heavy bike in terrain like you tackled on the R model. I am amazed at your skill level, balance, and stamina. For me, there would have been nothing fun about it - just a continuous workout. The R model is tall too. I really can't imagine how you did that ride. Hats off to you dude.
Just comes with time. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone nthat doesn't ride this type of terrain bin a regular basis A 300/500 would be a lot more fun for most people Thanks for the good words 🤘
You sir are a riding god. Some of that stuff looked so gnarly, it didn't even look fun. I couldn't have done some of that on anything - not even a 250 or 426. Great vid.
I was really hoping you'd finish. MST on a ktm 720... Really shows your skill level for sure. Could you imagine riding a 450 or 2stroke and catching up to someone on stage 2 and they are on a 790??? I'm sure the weight of that bike just ate through those tires over rock. Super fun to watch - can't wait for next year!
Ya, it was a great day on the bike. I was ahead of so many that did finish and was ahead if where I needed to be for time Next year I think I'll have a spare rear wheel for the 2nd half or maybe something that wears better Plenty time to plan 🤘
Just bought a 2020 KTM 790 ADVENTURE R what a tyre shredding machine box stock. Can't believe how much I love this bike doing all the bulletproof items now harden it up ready for Action 👌
If I did this the video would have been de-monitized in the first 50 yards of trail! You're so calm! How are you doing this without saying F/2k, sh!t the entire time! Travis you're my hero!
Your commitment to the sport and your technical skills as a rider are blatantly evident in the footage on the Malcom Smith trail, hats off to you brother! Please allow subtitles on future videos, hard to hear your comments over the roar of the engines! Adding a few scoops of magnesium citrate malate powder to your water will help prevent arm pump and leg cramps in future rides.
It's amazing that such trails are possible with this motorcycle. I have the same bike, but I would not be able to do that. Congratulations! Greetings from Austria
That was seriously impressive what you went through on the big dog. On the 300 you would have blasted through. Crazy difference when the bike is 500lbs. That took knuts mr!
Wow Travis you are sure one bad dude. I have the same bike but don’t think I would ever attempt to ride big bear. If you ever come to North Carolina I would attempt to follow you.
I changed my bar to a 800MM ProTaper Contour handlebar, the bike felt so much better (for me). "Pick it up and go again, BEEP" I am such a fan of this dude.
I’m actually still on my stock bars for some reason. I usually use ProTaper EVOs but wasn’t sure if all the electronics would fit on the bars. I need to stop being lazy and just test it all out
@@EverySingleSunday It would be an honor for you to tell me what you think, it changed it for me. Back from riding all these years from the era of kick starters and little 125s and 200s it felt perfect for me, I have to admit when I was in my teens the Gold ProTaper was a thing of love and I always wanted one; so I got one to make smile everytime I ride. Goooold!
Great ride man that would have kicked my ass hours ago. Way to give it hell as far as I’m concerned you kicked ass!! Around Bend Oregon out on 2 wheels
Damn what an intense video! I really enjoyed it, thank you for sharing. Ps. This video also removed my doubt and made it clear for me, I am trading my 1290 sas for the 890 adventure r 😃.
Unfortunately I broke my leg in October. No way my fitness will be up to par by then. Thinking of running it on my 300 if I’m around this year. I do want another crack at it on a big bike again some day for sure
Great vid and it looked like great fun! Are you running bibs in the wheels? What mirror combo are you running on the 790 and where'd you buy them? Thanks
@@EverySingleSunday totally. I've been down that trail 100 times, but always on a small bike, and even then it was a challenge. I'm just looking at your Pacific Northwest and Idaho videos and deciding which singletrack I could do on the 790 next summer...
Brother, YOU ARE THE MAN! I mean that in two ways, 1.) You have the talent 2.) You have the size. I probably wouldn't have made it 100 yards past the first dirt road.
Awesome try man, love the 790 videos. Can you keep us posted what you need to fix the bike? Keep youre nuts gas free and hope to see you soon here! greetz from the flats of Holland :D
I just took out the check valves in the tank. It's been good to go since them. I plan on putting on the ROTTWEILER gas cap once it's available. Should cure any issues
Fantastic video!!! @Every Single Sunday, i've got short question, what was the reason of check engine light on the dash? I'm having it also after charcoal canister removal...
I have my 02 sensors unplugged for the mapping I am running If You have your charcoal can removed you need a thing to plug into a sensor. You can get it from Rottweiler Performace. It’ll fix you CEL
Awesome video and shows the capability of the 790R. Makes me wonder if the stock battery would have worked better. I fully drained mine once when parked overnight with the headlight on (because the light stays on if you turn off the key before a complete stop). Jumped it the next day and still works great 8 months later.
I love your videos. you are the real deal man. your videos made up my mind to get an 890 r. picking it up on the weekend. I plan to ride deep sandy roads and dunes. have you done that yet? would be awesome to see it done
I’ve been in some deep sand but no dunes yet. I would like to get out in the dunes with the bike but digging it out scares me But, I’m down with a busted ankle/ leg right now so I have a few months to plan something out Thanks
great track and very skilfull on this ktm monster!!! , i realize it is the same you did with tenere 700 and KTM 950, i would like to have the chance to go there, there is any wikiloc or additional information for it?, thanks for sharing this dreamful route
@@EverySingleSunday went in a race in Australia called ultimate race.lots of challenges.fastest wheel change dropping the bike pick up.gps sections then time trials on enduro 12hr track.set up for enduro bikes.
Fantastic ride ..... couldn't believe how much struggle and effort is needed for this elephant of a bike on this rocky trails. ..... I was hoping you can finish - still making history.....
@@EverySingleSunday I ran the ADV bike route on my 1290SAR with my mosko Reckless 80 fully packed on it. Not the hardest trail I've ridden by far but on 3-4 hours sleep(rode up late the night before from OC and was awakened by reving dirt bikes at 645am) the last 40 miles was hard. I realized I don't love super dry rocky stuff. Lol. when I rode up to register, they said, you're doing this with that??? Never again.
@@EverySingleSunday an oldd4 friend of mine who raced road and off road decades ago said for my 150lb body weight, I should be riding a 250-300lb bike, like the 500EXC. I was leaning toward the 701 Enduro LR, being that it's 130lbs less than the 790R. 110 less than the T7. I like those bikes but the weight savings....but he still said the LR is too heavy.
117 miles of hell for the pavement pounder. Just a fun stroll for Travis. I can only wonder how many 790's ktm is going to sale from this little test. THE ENDURO CHANNEL ONCE AGAIN
Hi, great video. I'm looking at getting the 890 adventure r. I like the sound of your 790 though. What upgrades will make me achieve that sound on my new bike?
