I have one, been riding it for 2 years now. And even though it was love at first sight, I still keep loving it a little more every time I ride. It's a beast, and the more you get to know it, the more fun it gets.
Got my licence last year and bought a 690 Duke III which I loved. Went to get it serviced and left with a 2008 990 Super Duke R :DDD 2008-2011 models got *all kinds* of little upgrades to get it pumping upwards of 130hp. It's got all the bling...full Akra system, splattered with carbon everywhere. Riding it in London is unreal!!! Traffic parts in front of me (Moses style) when I blip the throttle. And I *only* downshift in tunnels, poor peds become deaf. Only had it two weeks and it's the ultimate grin machine! There's an ergo gel seat which I'm probably going to buy xD It's got the looks though and might make you cheat again ;)
I've got a 2008 SDR. It's truly a raw bike. No nannies, 400 lbs. I put a new throttle cam on mine to deal with the twitchiness. As others have pointed out, it's made for bombing corners, which is what I ride here in the Colorado canyons. The rake is really extreme on the Gen1 SDR, I've gotten swap hitting big whoops on a superhighway at 85mph.
Oh, you haven't got any idea of how good the bike really is ;) A KTM isn't built for riding straight forward. It wants curves'n turns! The tighter the better! You can press it around corners like a supermoto, it's phenomenal! KTMs slogan doesn't promise too much: "Ready To Race", this beauty needs it a little harder ;) Very good video btw, greetz from Germany
I got the '08, put more than 40k miles in her! 0 issues! You can fix the snatchy throttle with a G2 throttle tube and then just remove the secondary butterflies. Get one tho and you'll need a bank roll; upgrades are spendy. Full Akropovic Ti Evolution exhaust system set me back $5k and the MotoHooligan intake is $400... Also, you'll need to cash a bail bond to pay for tires, they just smoke!
My brother had a 690 duke for awhile. And I just rented a 2014 Harley Dyna Street Bob with the 103 ci motor. Was on a poker run ride all day on it it was awesome. Rode in a group of 40+ bikes. And will have gopro footage that I need to put up.
The image effects in the beginning of the KTM were awesome!! The V twins for the most part, always have a vibration, some worse than others!! Your bike sounds better though!!
I have a KTM 990 superduke had it since I was 21 haven't ridden it since 2013 hoping too soon though now that I am 27 mine has the original Akrapovic titanium pipes on it and the Akra race map

That I have to agree with. Being a taller then average person, like your self, finding a bike the knees fit on comfortably is sometimes harder then you might think. If you get a chance, throw a leg over a Triumph Daytona 659. I found it fits like a glove.
Very nice bike, its what I consider a young persons bike. I have a few friends who used to own that type but once they got past 45 they go BMW or Kawasaki cruiser. Comfort is king for the past it, and I am way past it.
In that class though right? The liter naked bike class? I understand since there's no windscreen anything above 100 is gonna suck but I don't want to get burned by a 600 if I buy one lol
I had the same experience today it cars tho. How you said that the throttle was twitchy and it wants to get up and go. I have been driving our new to us BMW 328xi and it's more laid back it's a 3.0l inline 6 only 230hp and 200lbs of torque nothing special and I've been driving that for about a week or so but I decided today to take our our BMW 550i witch is a beast 4.8l v8 364hp and 364lbs of torque the throttle was super light. for the 328 I put it in the same spot and it would just go but for the 550 it would go from zero to hero and haul. it just shows how when you get used to things you react differently like for the 550 you would be way lighter and more smother with the gas vs the 328

bigbumi mmk you're on the right track. A hydraulic clutch puts a synthetic fluid into the motor allowing the CPU to take over. This essentially offers the rider a autonomous riding system, only requiring you to keep the bike up right, and balanced. Hope this helps!

EN187 I've had a off-road training in the Netherlands and they used KTM Freeride's 350cc, the three bikes that i used that day all had issues with the feul injection system :)
@@EvilNeil187 At the moment i own Aprilia Tuono V4, Aprilia SXV 550, Yamaha Bulldog 1100, Kawasaki Brute Force 750 and couple of unic 200cc scooters. Owned like 40+ motorcycles on my lifetime (28 years), including 2 Superduke 990-s. So i know what im talking.
