KTM Duke 250 Review | Perfect City bike? | RWR
KTM Duke 250 is an all new motorcycle from KTM for the global market and the motorcycle produces 29 bhp of power and around 24 newton meters of torque which I personally think gives it the edge as an urban motorcycle. This is the perfect commuter that can stretch it's legs on the highway.
The Duke 250 has a top speed of 142 km/h which should be sufficient.
Priced at 1.8 lakhs ex showroom mumbai it's not a most value for money motorcycle KTM has to offer.
Still I think the stylish street fighter looks will surely turn heads.

Buy a FZ25, change the brake lines to steel braided ones, add a master cylinder worth about 6-7K, change the air and oil filter to K&N ones and add that Daytona exhaust. All this for about 35-40K more. What say? Damn! You still won't get USD forks, oil cooling, slipper clutch and that top end performance!

Ride With Rahul Hey brother how tall are you and was the riding position comfortable for long distances ? I'm 6'1 and want to know would it be comfortable enough ? Yaa you are right. I was saying because I own a Domimar 400 and the acceleration on both the bikes are almost the same (duke 250 lacks a bit) , well i don't know how the duke 250 feels while riding. So I just want to ask you that which bike you feel better while riding Dominar or Duke 250? Waiting for your reply.

+Ashwin Anand on the city Duke but on the highway Dominar, handling wise the Duke is way ahead but due to higher torque the Dominar feels more premium when you are cruising at 100+ speeds. ABS is there on Dominar which is missing on Duke.

KTMs was being a choice only due to its performance , raw racing and now with this one being a lower performance bike with respect to its category of 250 segment making it preferable for traffic riding ( city riding ) conditions , no one would like to spend that much amount for such technical specs . Still waiting for complete details of the bike but looks like not a value for money thing.

Hi Rahul. I just purchased a brand new duke 250. While shifting gears I do hear the normal clanking sound but also get this feeling that the clutch wire is gonna break or snap. Is this something to do with the slipper clutch ?

No, I think you should get it checked as slipper clutch only feels soft doesn't feel like it's gonna snap.

Bro I have heard that the 6th gear of this bike is a cruising gear..the 5th gear pulls the bike upto 130+ and after changing the gear the speed of the bike increases only by 4 or 5 km....

Hey Rahul nice to point review as usual. Quick question can you let us know how the braking is in 250. Not worrying of ABS not present but lots of reviews are stating the brakes are not even adequate enough to stop the bike. How is the feel of braking in this bike. Can you clarify this man. I have booked the bike and will get in 2 days.

I was riding it in the city and there I didn't get to test the brakes as hard as I want to. For city riding situation the brakes are sufficient, what most reviews have said, it really about hard braking, under track or slowing down from highway speeds, and I haven't tested that part out.

Duke 390 has ABS and better tyres and more power and torque all of these factors make it better in long rides, Duke 250 has more mileage and a huge range considering it's big fuel tank capacity.

Hello, I am a follower of yours from Turkey. Here we have duke 250 with abs and metzeler tires. Other specs are same like in Indıa. Considering this, which bike should I go for? Duke 250 or duke 390? I use it 50% in city (not horrible traffic) and 50% touring up to 400 kms. My existing and first bike is Honda CBR125r by the way. Thanks.

+Fatih Can The extra things you get for Duke 390 44 ps power engine with 35 nm torque. Ride by wire LED headlights Tft console Much better brakes. What are the negatives? Duke 390 25 km/l Duke 250 30 kmpl or slightly more. Duke 390 has slightly more heating Parts cost more/ LED headlights, Console etc. Pricing in your country, I am not sure. If mileage is not an issue for you, go for the 390.

Thank you very much for the quick answer, pricing is 20.500 TL (5800 USD) for Duke 250, 27.000 TL (7.600 USD) for Duke 390 in Turkey. Mileage is not so important but price is a bit important. By the way if we take Yamaha r25 (without abs) (6.000 USD) into this comparison, what would you say?
