Here I test ride KTM's RC8 to see if I should buy one after admiring them for many years.

Having a TL1000R and a RC51 in the past I was expecting something more along the sound of those bikes. But more raw describes it very well even with aftermarket exhaust. I have the 2015 US model White/Orange/Black RC8R. Gear indicator is a little dot under the rpm numbers on my 2015(didn't see it on your model tested). No fuel gauge so you have to reset the trip gauge if you want a somewhat reliable sense of gas remaining. I love every second on mine but your review on this bike is very fair. 👍👍

Thanks For sharing your test ride , that dealer's amazing that they had 3 Rc8s . Love my 16 SuperDuke R. Pure Adrenaline rush . Twist and shout. Nothing compares IMOP, Sound, Torque, Handling, Looks, Lucky I Demoed a 990 in Houston. Never been the same . LC 8 engines are a hoot. And mine has all the goodies . Quick shifter , Rottweiler , Dyna Jet , Powerparts seat,

Mate, I did exactly the same thing, the bloke laughed at me in the shop when I said is sounded a bit meaty for an 800 🤣 Bought it anyway.

805mm seat height... In the lower position. The sub frame has two different mounting points offering a seat height of 805mm or 825mm. The handlebars and rearsets are also adjustable.

Overkill is kind of the point of these bikes, the extra power can be used on race tracks

Just realized I was looking at the RC8R engine when I looked at the specs online - The 'standard' RC8 is still fast enough though! Thanks for watching.

To be fair to you, after two weeks of riding it your balls would of finally dropped out of your mouth for you to ride it harder. Although you would be better with a 600 supersport as you really have to wind them up to get any performance out of them so they dont really take you by surprise.

Dude : I wanted this bike for years. I'm gonna go buy it. Because it's orange. Also same dude : I thought it was 800cc but it's near 12, what a surprise 🤦 I don't know how much of this is you being sarcastic but I dont believe you didn't know what engine this machine had. C'mon now.

Good to hear your thoughts on it 👍 (I've got the 2009 white one) As mentioned by other comments the specs you gave are for the later RC8-R which had several engine, gearbox refinements and more power 😉 The early ones (Non R) from 2008 to 2010 were actually 1148cc then there were several iterations of the RC8-R up to 2015 when production ceased. Definitely not a bike for new riders or for city commuting. As for the twitchy throttle, there is a cheap/easy to fit accessory which changes the throttle response to make it much smoother. (Search 'Progressive' on thektmcentre.co.uk) Heat from the engine is always a problem for large capacity bikes when stationary or going slow. I've wired a switch to the fan so I can turn it on anytime and it stays around 86c in traffic even on hot days. Normal running temp is 72c. With proper leathers I don't feel the heat on my legs. No fuel gauge is a bit of a pain but resetting the OD when fuelling works fine. (I'm comfortable doing 120miles on a tank but duno what the limit is yet) Seat height is adjustable in two places. (Tail unit can be set high/low and there is a concentric adjustment screw in the suspension linkage) The footpegs height can also be adjusted in 3 positions. As well as brake/gear levers height. Once you're used to it (and setup suspension) it really is a fun and confidence inspiring bike. The most comfortable sports bike I've ridden (several Honda CBR and Suzuki GSXR models)

Ok, I think you need to take a step back, here, Cowboy lol. You clearly have too much disposable income, and it's burning a hole in your pocket. Which is a nice position to be in, do not get me wrong, but......... you have bought 3 bikes, within a very short period of time, each one a performance step-up, and frankly your MV F3 is borderline too much for you to ride safely and to the bike's appropriate level. Like myself, you're no spring chicken, and our reflexes and responses - vital for riding motorcycles well and safely - are not what they were when we were 19. Thankfully, this bike here is too big for you physically and way too much for your level of riding ability, and thank heavens you have had the sense to realise this. I don't understand your rush? Ideally, you should have ridden the 390 BMW for at least a year, then the same with the Ducati SuperSport, then the MV. I've had a break from riding for almost 40 years, but eased myself back in slowly with a BMW 650 for a year, and then last August I got a new Ducati, and this August I'm probably pulling the trigger on a MV F4. I'm also joining the local IAM and planning to take my advanced test. Please, please keep your wallet in your pocket and get used to the bikes you have for at least another year and further enhance your riding skills, before we are all watching you disappear into a hedge on a Panigale V4.
