i think that rc8 is already illegal in india, so if i consider also that the new design of rc series is inspired from rc8 then i would have been more happy if they give the whole design of rc8 to the rc series rather than applying the design partially pura ditto rc8 jaise hi design agar bana deta na phir ktm ka alag hi ek level ban jata market me sirf thoda sit ko soft side karna tha bas aur kuch change nahi

@Jesse Pinkman Its a track focused machine . With the aerodynamics , with no abs , with those power figures , they had to discontinue this in India because Indian roads are not suitable for this. Even the new rc8 which ktm has released is track focused too. Thats why they didn't launch in India. Its too dangerous.

Twin cylinder engines usually packs a bigger punch in the usable rev range. Take the case of the mighty Ducati Street fighter V4, something that Ducati built from the ground up, to explicitly dethrone the KTM 1290 Superduke. Alas, they couldn't do shit. That's because they looked at it from a supersport perspective. The V4 engine in the Ducati makes more power but lacks the raw grunt of torque. Churning out 123nm and that too at a high 9500rpm whereas the Superduke puts out 144nm at a low 7000rpm. This meant that the Superduke felt more powerful on the road even thought it weren't. Same story with Kawi's ZH2. Plus the LC8 engine on the Superduke, throughout the years, has been reworked and returned to near perfection. It is one of the most reliable big bore European engines out there today. So yeah, they wouldn't wanna risk it with a new engine and make the Superduke loose it's character..... (They may stick to this doctrine until they come up with a full blown supersport)

@@pavis7834 Because they never wanted a torque monster. Remember Panigale 1299 made more torque than the 2020 superduke r. The reason is the powerband & not particularly the torque figures. Twin cylinders provide power in lower end whereas 4 cylinders provide power in the upper band. If you want an outright maniac speed monster , you go for a 4 cylinder , if you want a torque monster you go for a twin. As far as reliability is considered , KTM might be one of the most reliable ones , but it comes nowhere near to the japanese offerings , like come on , I've heard CBRs running without engine oil , god knows what they put in their engines. Add to that the fact that japanese motorcycles have way less maintenance cost & you get a perfectly practical superbike at your disposal.
