Ktuner/Tuning Problems with my 2020 Civic Si | FIXING STUFF

I have the same car as you and I just bought a Ktuner with the free tsp tune. T hey sent me the file uploaded it and haven’t had a problem. In sport mode I’m hitting 24psi in 3rd and 25psi in 4th haven’t tried 5th-6th yet. The tune works great with this car it has to be a Ktuner unit or your file when you get it fixed your going to love it.

This is a great justification I have for not messing with ECU tuning. ^_^

my car makes 25-27ibs max boost from the TSP tune. however, it doesn't make the "max boost every time you engage WOT in every gear. it will only touch max boost in the later gears 4-6 later in the rpm band at WOT. i also have a 2018 model and live on the east coast, not sure if any of that makes a difference. but we do have very different climates, and im also at sea level. Another thing going from stock to ktuner is a nice noticeable jump in power. however, going from ktuner +6 base tune to TSP is much less noticeable. You should really get the car a custom tune. You dont have to turn it up to 10/10.

About a month ago I had a Hondata tune +6psi put on my ‘19 coupe. It was put on by a dealership. Within a week the car’s rev spiked when I floored it at 3500 rpms. The clutch slipped and I smelled the clutch burning. Naturally the dealership found nothing wrong with it and blamed me. After fighting with them because they only wanted to refund half my money, I got them to put the stock tune back on and refund me the full $630. I’ve had several VW’s tuned with no problems. If you plan to keep your car for awhile, I would not tune it and avoid potential headaches. I learned my lesson.

Thank you for sharing your experience with ktunner, I have a 2019 si and this is my errand car so it has some mods nothing crazy but since I did planned to keep this car for 10 years I haven’t tune the car. I’ll keep checking with your experience before I make my decision since I live in Sacramento as well. Anyways great content and keep growing your channel.

I'm not an expert but I thought I had this same issue when I tuned my car I'm almost positive that your looking at the MAP my guy who tuned my fk7 said isn't total turbo boost pressure. That's boost pressure out of exhaust. So of course you loose a little bit of pressure cause your seeing the recycling back end of the cycle on the Ktuner unit. He told me there was no way to look at total boost pressure in turbo without having a live data log going on a laptop in your car or an aftermarket aem boost pressure gauge. I'm pretty sure your misinformed and worrying about a problem that's not there. Hope so hope you figure it out tho. If youre really that worried id just spend the $200 for some Dyno time and look at the boost live then you'll know for sure.

Have a friend with a semi built RSX type S and that thing is fun to drive ! When I still had my 2012 civic si, for some reasons that type s was way more fun to drive, probably the high rev and vtec sound was so much more aggressive lol. As much as I wanted to get a type s I decided to try something new, so I went with the 2019 si. Not regretting my decision at all. Love my car now and many more mods to come. Sorry to see you having so many issues with the Ktuner. Mine went smooth, wish yours did too. Glad to see Ktuner taking care of you and thanks for all the informative updates! Have many friends with the Si with no tune yet and planning on Ktuner. If they ever have this issue thanks to you I will be of help :).

Okay so doing a little more digging it looks like I'm right sort of. The MAP on the Ktuner unit your looking at live is MANIFOLD AIR PRESSURE. so not boost pressure the turbo making but the manifold. I thought about doing a K Tiuner On my Type R but I would hate to void the warranty and potentially have problems down the road! I appreciate you sharing the problems you have been having with it! Idk if you got your answer. But tsp stage 1 is progressive boost and the high is only seen at 3rd and 4th gear.

I currently own a 8th Gen civic and I'm really deciding if I should pull the trigger on purchasing a 2020 Civic Si. I love seeing your progress on your vehicle and it must be upsetting to be hitting these headaches. Good luck on your journey and I'll be tagging along to see what happens next. Buddy of mine had a red Type S but unfortunately sold it. 10/10 would recommend making that a project car.

I have a 2019 si tuned at 3k miles. It has a cai, and ktuner but with a stage 1 MAPerformance tune. Currently have 7k miles and had 0 issues with it. Nonsport mode boosts at 21psi and sport mode at 23. Really enjoy the tune and drive it pretty hard 95% of the time.

Type R son- I'm planning to get one (well, I was planning to get one before this whole pandemic fiasco hit). I've already started by buying a set of Hotwheel Type R's from Ebay which surprisingly arrived today (Red, Black, White). I put them on the floor and asked my pup to choose which color he wanted. All he did was walk-up and sniffed each of them, and walked away- also undecided at which color to get. The virus pandemic scares me though jumping into a vehicle because of the uncertainty of the economy, jobs, etc., but if no one will be visiting car dealerships because of this, I'm pretty sure it would be a good time to make a deal on the cars. I would be surprised to see how many of those dealerships will waive the mark-up fees just to move these cars off the lot. Probably wait a little bit until this whole situation pans-out before making any financial commitments going forward. Hang-on to the Si for now, soon all of CA will be in lock-down and you'll need your car to get around places of need. Probably best to put it back to stock mode to avoid any unnecessary repairs that may happen, especially that most business like car dealerships (well around my area) are shut-down for the next 3 weeks. Don't want to be without a car during this crisis.

A misfire may have come from spark blow out, might need a colder plug or different gap. What boost you make regardless of map is dependent on many factors, temps, humidity, altitude, fuel

Dude, I am having issues as well with my ktuner version two. I run it on my 2019 Honda Civic EX. Like you are having issues with yours, I turn my car on and sometimes mine won't turn on either and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Even worse I can't switch my tsp stage 1 tune between the three different tunes on the fly. I tap the screen repeatedly and nothing happens. I hit the tune one, tune two and tune three and it won't select anything. I have no idea which of the tunes I'm actually running. And I try switching on my steering wheel and that doesn't work either. I tried holding down the cancel button for 3 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, nothing happens. After I do this and I hit the cruise control button like you're supposed to to change tunes, it simply turns on my cruise control. I'm not understanding this device at all and I'm not sure if I'm a complete idiot or my device is malfunctioning and it's a faulty unit and needs reprogrammed or potentially sent back so I can get a new one.

It's not all about boost. Watch some of hondata videos and he explains why you won't always see the cost pressure you want. This particular engine has a lot of engineering. Check out their vids and understand tuning

I had a sick all motor rsx type s in 02. Head work, Hondata stage 4. Full bolt ons. 13, 60s on stock tires

Maybe flash the car back to stock and start over; just Ktuner stage 1?? This is a great platform; the car has exceptional handling and a rev-happy engine. It’s a great sleeper, too! And your car is very good-looking-nice spec.

I leave the cruise control on all the time. Feels like even less rev hang with it on

I have k tuner along with the tsp tune. I’m more familiar with cars and such and had no issue with getting my tune to upload fine and work as intended. Your issue may be an isolated issue.

So this put more wear and tear on ur car. Is the power worth it? How much worse is mpg. I just have an aftermarket intake and debating getting one, not sure if I wanna screw with the ecu.

They might be adding timing to a point where they lowered the boost to compensate!to build more power over all. Ask the tuner.

Try wot (wide open throttle) while in 3rd gear. Of course on an empty long road. Your pull looks like it wasnt a pull at all

Hondata is all i will say...great vid tho....side question idk about you but my tires are loud AF did you notice that at all? And i would still choose the si over the type r...im weird like that

Had the same problem with my speed3 and stage 1 Cobb OTS tune. Would never hit boost targets, so i got a pro tune and all is good now! Maybe get some more mods and get a pro tune. In the case of my car currently I don’t hit boost targets if it’s too hot, i 100% make more boost in the winter than the summer

Hey I have a question, I was trying to upload a pop tune and now my car would not turn on

I have the same issue with my 2019 hatchback 1.5t I’m getting misfires I think from the k tuner v2, I have taken it to a local mechanic charged me 1k to replace and reprogram my ecu but can’t reprogram I’m stuck in a whole should I just take it to a dealership?

One of my best friend owns the new 2020 Subaru sti. When I asked him how much boost he’s pushing he said he doesn’t know yet. His max is 18 psi and he previously achieved that on his wrx. Is it possible you are asking too much boost? What was the stock boost? All I know about boost is that you gas as hard as you can.

What do you recommend, TSP Stage 1 or Phearable Stage 1?

I’ve owned both Ktuner devises v1.2 and the v2, the v2 was perfect, never any problems, I am having problems with the 1.2 , this morning I went to re flash my car with a newer tune and in the middle of flashing the ktuner disconnected and ecu went into recovery mode, when I was recovering the ecu from recovery mode, it got disconnected in the middle of flashing again!!!!!! Draining my damn battery

Did you ever figure out why you were not hitting the right boost targets I'm having the same problems with my 18 hatch. Using a 21psi map only hits 17-18psi when I first got the unit I was able to hit my costem map at 22psi then one day when I reflashed my costem 22psi map (pulled alittle boost out on the lower range due to clutch slip) it stoped hitting 22lbs been fighting with it for 3+ months and no one has been able to help me

Hey Cameron. Did you ever figure out the problem? I had the tune downloaded and the max I was seeing was 23lbs. I had to download the tune again after getting my downpipe (to delete the o2 sensor reading) and now the max I’m seeing is 20lbs.

I got the ktuner v2 on my 19 SI .. with the prl intake with the race MAF and the tune im at 24psi on sport and 19 regular mode.. yea my ktuner always turns on when i turn on the car with 0 issues maybe there is something wrong with the ktuner unit.

How do you plan to pass smog inspection?

Another good one Cameron! Have you monitored your intake temps? I think I saw 89°... That's hot out dude. Like I said turbos dont like hot air, the ecu will not allow for full boost when it's hot. Try doing pulls at night when its cooler out.

10th gens come stock 20.3 psi but can only accomplish 19 without the car being under load because the torque is already being achieved. your first map hit the 19, then 20.3 in sport mode. everything seems to be working, I just need to see if your ktuner itself displays more than 20.3 (on map 3) in sport mode, cause THEN I would think somethings up. that log you created achieved nothing lol

What About your floor driver side floor mats when I drive I never hit 100% throttle because of my floor Mat limited it to like 87% so try pulling your mats out and then going full throttle I bet the boost will rise

Your tune started to act weird after you did that special thing to turn off traction control in the video before this.

99-04 is just a new edge. no such thing as v2. It's the "same" car as mine, just with new edges... hence the name. I have an SN95. but mine's a 95, so it's a 5.0 /t5. My buddy has an 03 SN95NE. They're nice.

i just leave the ktuner connected on the ob2. When i turn on the car it automatically the ktuner on also

i would get rid of it. It's GDI so it'll have problems in the future. And the 1.5 Liter is puny compared to the previous generations. A previous generation with an added turbo will always beat anything you do to the 10th gen.

For your clutch, this seems to be the most favored clutch: www.naperformanceftw.com/ctr-clutch-retro/10thgen-si-hatchback-clutch-and-flywheel-kit. It's a retro fit type R clutch. Otherwise the ACT Street clutch is pretty good but has some lock out problems in WOT. Good luck, I hope this helps

Honda needs to go back to their NA motors. These turbo charged engines with smaller displacement is obviously just a cheaper way to make profit. It’s hard finding a Type R without the $10k mark up.
