It is such a beautiful dance, thank you for sharing. I lived in Waimanalo, Oahu decades ago and I use to watch Hawaiian dancing on television. They had matriarchs dancing. It was beautiful, elderly women with their gentle movements. There were others dancers, but I remember them the best. When I lived in Hawaii the second time (a convert) my husband and I went to the PPC that was awesome to go villages.

When the Mormon Missionaries arrived in Hawaii, other Christian Missionaries had been in The Hawaiian Islands for many years, however, the Mormon Missionaries were the first ones to encourage Hawaiians to speak, sing and worship in their own native tongue.

Thats awesome! Yeah definitely the BEST Missionaries! Not the ones who introduced us to Christ, yet taught us to be ashamed of ourselves and be like them/ dress like them/ walk like them/ talk like them etc. Grateful for the Gospel & my Heritage 📘⛪🌋🗿
