Fun thing I noticed, the moon king's daughters are assumed to be triplets, and the Beldam goes by the title of the Other Mother. So in Kubo's case, she really would be his other mother, as the sister would look identical to his mother. Just like the Beldam. Just thought this was cool

If you go watch coraline and find the scene where she first meets wybie, he tells her that if you were to go to the bottom of the well and look up, you’d see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day. This could explain why even when coraline went to the other world in the middle of the day, it’s always night. This could also mean that when coraline threw the key down the well, it just went straight back to the other mother.

According to Greek mythology when the human form of the god is killed they turn in to what they represent like how Uranus after he was kill was turned into the sky in which he represents. So Kumbo's aunt would have to have turned into what she represented not unless her animal symbol is a spider. Well I do not know Japanese mythology a lot but I think it is the same way as in Greek mythology.

Another reason it could be night always is because like you said the well is used to keep the Beldam inside and Wybie says that if you look up at the well you will see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day.

I realized that while the sisters wanted Kubos eye, (because he only had 1 eye) the eyes that are hidden in the other world for coraline to find are 1 eye from each of the children the Beldam has taken. So it make sense as to why the sister would be the Beldam and why there is the obsession with children's eyes. I know I am jumping on this train a little to later but it makes perfect sense.

Ik I'm a little late to this video but if you notice (Idk if this is true I've never seen the movie) the moon kings eye in another shot looks brown so was it only blue because at first it was a child's and within a few minutes turned into it's natural shade because of how old it's supposed to be?

Okay, now I'm curious. What happens if a non-tween discovers the portal to the Other world? What would the Other Mother do with a toddler or teenager? A toddler would be easily prey for the Beldam, but a teen? Although a teen might not be able to enter the portal similar to how adults can't.

I you may have noticed that the dad from coralin tells her that the pink palice is 150 years old. Beldam could have easily been the sister from kubo

maybe the reason the beldam preferred the night is because kubo's aunt can only appear after the sun goes down.

It also explains why she talks about loving the kids - almost genuinely - and then insists that the only way they can be together is if she takes their eyes; because with Kubo, the Moon King would only allow Kubo to come back and be part of their family if his eyes were taken.

I liked this theory particularly a lot.

When I watched Kubo for the first time, before I found out that the story in the town was the mother's recollections, I thought the story Kubo told was going to mirror the actual movie. In particular, I thought it was going to mirror the part with the giant spider. So that would be an additional reason for the spider form. Also, I think the Belle dame might not prefer the night, but instead be more POWERFUL during the night. The aunts could only see Kubo because he was in the moonlight - perhaps the Belle dame can only see or use her magic during the nighttime, and when it's daytime it fades away, which is why Coraline returned to the real world during the day.

I have realized that coraline, and kubo have quite a few twins?? The sisters, the lovat and the ghost girl, and perhaps her neighbors at the pink palace, ms. Spink and me. Forcible.

Then that must mean that the beldam was never a human who owned the pink house. Yet,a mere reincarnation or not of a evil goddess who could've wanted to escape with her sister. So she takes eyes then realizes that she is taking souls that feed her beauty

Could the sister/beldam's need for love come from the fact that she watched her sister find love with Hanzo, then gain a purpose in life? I mean, she gets trapped on earth, with no way back home and her purpose seems to be collecting children's eyes and getting the children to love her. Just something I noticed after seeing this video.

maybe in this movies world the types of memory you get after you are born determines the colour your eyes are. Then that would mean its juust a coincidence his parents have the same eye colour as him. Just a thought.

Ok here is my theory well Kubo's Aunt is the other mother in coralline because they are both trying to get a kid to kill or trap and the mask kinda look like the other mother when she changes the 3rd time so I think she goes off on a hunt to find new kids and finds Kubo's but is never actually dead but is just still there,ok so Kubo's aunt is just the other mother but she just took form of them if that makes any sense also the other mothers face is cracked much like the Aunts mask and she was also trying to take the eyes of a kid for some reason like the other mother

im confused on how the aunt could have transformed into the beldam here are my reasons: 1.if the mother and father transformed into spirits why didn't the aunt 2.in the caroline movie the beldam said that if caroline got away she would die ,then again she does die and she also consumes kids souls so why would she still have god like quality's 3.when kubo's grandpa transformed into a human he did not have any power left and didn't remember anything, him being made of matter and the beldam as well if she still welds power why doesn't he 4. when kubos grandpa transformed and didn't remember what happened,if your saying the aunt transformed into the beldam why does she still do the same thing as if they come naturally, if she had transformed wouldn't she find them disgusting 5.in the caroline movie the beldam dies in the end if the aunt is a goddess why does she die 6. in another video they say the beldam was a fairy some sort of evil fairy that also how the parents got into the glass iglub she crossed worlds and the folk tale say that when a evil fairy walk by thing like animals start to decay and die. in the movie caroline dumps over a bag of rotten food and the two sisters say there dog was nearly close to death and not to mention parents are know were to be found

The creators of Kubo and the 2 strings said they were inspired by Japanese myths and I read some Japanese myths about Japanese gods dying.
