Well that snow proves something, its not about power of the machine.. its the brains behind the machine that makes it work best.

Haha great comment and very true, you can watch lots of videos where people struggle using sub compact tractors, whether it’s plowing, digging, moving logs or what have you, but often it’s not the machine that’s the problem it’s the operator. I’m just glad I’m able to showcase what a sub compact can really do for anyone who has one or is interested in buying one some day. Thanks for your comment!

Hey thanks buddy I appreciate that. Yah the plow should be a great addition for those larger snow falls, I still plan to use the pushbox I built for lighter snow falls just for ease and simplicity sake but for heavy wet snow falls like these I feel the angle blade is the better tool, specially once I get the skids dialed in. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks man I totally agree! We have a hydraulic angle plow on the very front of a John Deere 2038R I use at work and it works great but the plow gets in my way in tight areas as I can only raise it so high, also I can’t push the snow into nice tall piles and instead the piles get pushed out farther and farther after awhile.. I agree you have much more versatility with a plow on a loader and I will always choose and loader plow vs and tractor plow at least for where I live. Somewhere where you don’t get as much snow tho a regular tractor plow would be fine. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Rich! Artillian makes some fantastic products for sure. I agree if you don’t get the snow volume that other people do then having an angle blade may not be worth the added expense. For light snow a snow pusher is best IMO.. very efficient, simple, and effective.. the snow pusher will always be my all time favorite just for its simplicity and effectiveness alone but Using a plow adds another level of fun and technique and it’s great to be able to put the snow exactly where you want it with the hydraulic angle. @BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Hey Frank, yah I have had that Happen before, back in a video I kade last year using the bucket this happened and I used the tractor to knock the snow off before grabbing the bucket.. the bucket is pretty light so the snow can easily interfere but with something as heavy as a plow it won’t be as large of an issue but it’s still best to get the snow out of there just to be sure your pins are fully seated. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching!

They are an amazing tractor and with the right amount of ballast there isn’t much they can’t do or handle. Nice video! It does take a bit to get used to, but once you do, it works great! I also ended up adding 5 of the washers to raise up the plow a bit more on my gravel driveway. I already had a good 2" base of snow/ice to help. I had to play with getting the right position on the plow in some areas because it tended to dig in a bit in areas of the driveway that weren't perfectly flat. Mostly along the edges of the driveway. Took a bit of finesse playing with the FEL forward and back (like when hooking up to the pallet fork quick connect). Thanks again for the great videos and help.
@BiffsEquipment

Thanks Andy glad you enjoyed! Yes I totally agree it def takes some getting use to with that auto float. I’m use to floating only the loader and being able to take the weight on and off my front wheels manually. I’m also use to lifting the plow when my front tires start to spin which is tricky with the auto float as it changes angle when you relive pressure but with some time and the right skid placement I’m sure it can be mastered. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Bob, it really does a great job being able to angle it at will whenever you need to square up to a pile or what have you. It’s also great for directing the snow exactly where you want it. You should think about adding your own hydraulics to your plow as it would be super easy to do since your plow already angles. Stay safe out there and thanks for watching!

Great technique...your high skill level is very apparent as you work your tractor. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos and learn more...I appreciate the videos. Thank you. I have a LX2610 with a similar Land Pride plow to yours without the chain float feature. The first test I had last year in VT was a 40" storm. I've only used a plow on a pickup a few times so my experience level is limited. The one issue I had was the weight of the snow moving the tractor sideways if I tried to push any distance with the plow angled...with limited angle on the plow or head-on it was absolutely amazing how well it moved snow. All the best to you, be well.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Thanks Fred I really appreciate the nice comment! Sounds like your plow is gonna do a great job as well! Being that yours doesn’t auto float you can just throw your loader in float more often than not as long as you have a good base benieth you where the plow isn’t gonna want to dig in.. typically I like to use a manual float like your plow has as that’s what I’v always been use to. When you feel the snow is pushing you around a bit just get in the habbit of picking up a touch on the plow to relieve some snow and help out a little more weight on your front wheels, this will help a lot.. eventually you’ll get the hang of it, dropping the loader down, going to float, then picking up slightly on the loader before putting it back into float all in a few quick motions. Land pride makes some great equipment as well. Best of luck with your plow this year, tbanks for watching!

Being able to tilt the plow left to right from your seat is a nice feature. I couldn't tell if you are able to tilt it forward and back. Yup, just a few minor adjustments to eliminate the gravel from catching and your off to the races.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Thanks Paul, I totally agree, tilting the plow left to right on demand is a very nice feature of this hydraulic plow. I found myself constantly using it to put the snow exactly where I wanted it which was a lot of fun and tile saving as well. There is a bit more finesse required to use thus Vs. the simplicity of a pushbox but both have their positives and negitives. I think once I get the skids set just right it’s gonna be awesome especially when I start to get a nice hard packed base above the stone on my driveway. Thanks for watching!

Sure seems to move snow well. I have a front end blower on mine as I have a 700 foot drive heavily wooded which leaves me nowhere to put the snow other than to blow it out into the woods. I use a box blade to do any scraping I need to.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Very cool Jeff, a snow blower up front and a blade in the back is an excellent combo able to handle nearly any type of snow between the two of them. Your using the correct tools for the Job giving you have nowhere to push your snow. For guys who have areas to push it a plow or pusher can get the job done well and what I do is when the piles start getting too large I’ll throw my bucket on and have some fun Re-arranging the piles and moving them around. Some day I’ll do a pusher Vs. plow comparison. Thanks for watching!

Every time I watched the snow overflowing the sides causing you to back up and push again made me happy that I chose to purchase a rear mount blower. One pass and it's done. Even in places I'm unable to throw it far I just angle the chute down and keep my rpm's low and I can place the snow where I want it. Most of the time I try to throw it back into the clouds. 😂
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Yah that’s one thing about a plow is you will get Wind Rows you have to clean up after doing your initial passes.. this is common tho I also have 8” wide rubber sides I can add to this plow which helps to cup the snow and keep it Infront if the plow. Also I made some mistakes myself as I shoulda been angling the snow towards the unplowed side not towards the plowed slide in some areas where I could have. I realized this after watching it as I was very tired the day i made this video and was in a rush to get it done so I wasn’t totally thinking clearly. Also remember it was a TON of snow.. had it been even half of that I belive I wouldn’t have been plowing the same areas so many times. Thanks for watching !

I did something different since the Amish recommended to me. On my snow plow, blade…I added round pipe that was cut quarter inch wide along the whole length of the pipe and placed onto the bottom cutting edge of my plow, that way…the plow glides over my grass and gravel. This also eliminated the bottom plow pucks.

That’s a great idea Ben, iv seen this method being used on bucket edges as well where people use a PVC pipe with a cut through the center and slide it over their cutting edge. I wouldn’t mind trying that but the only bad thing is if it’s really wet/heavy snow or ice you need to cut through the rounded edge is just gonna want to ride over top of it instead of cutting through it. But I can see this being helpful for certain situations or gravel driveway that are still very soft and mushy 👍🏻

Hey Mike, thanks a bunch I’m glad youv been enjoying the videos! You have a nice setup there with a rear blower on the back and a snow pusher on the front.. allows you to plow in any situation! As for the rear window you shouldn’t have any issues I wouldn’t think, the rear window is angled a bit downward tho so you may have a little issues seeing exactly where your blower is throwing the snow at all times.. you’ll be able to see it come out just fine but if you have the shoot set really high you may not be able to always see exactly where it’s landing.. but worst case you can easily lean your head down slightly and I think you’d be just fine. I havnt had any complains myself with the back window but I havnt had a snow blower on the back yet.. hope this helps! Thanks for watching/supporting the channel!

Nice video as usually. Ever thought about using a front mount blower instead of plow? You seem to live in an area that gets a good amount of snow, as I do. Blower works great with getting up close to objects and no snow banks to deal with. Can do walk ways too which can be a challenge for a plow.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Thanks buddy! I have always wanted a snow blower but never got one for 2 main reasons.. for one they are just sooo damn expensive, even a used one can run $2,000 sometimes around here, and for Two I like to keep my FEL on in the winter because often I’ll need the forks or grapple or even my bucket if a job comes up or a tree falls in my yard or what have you and I feel it would be a pain to keep switching back and forth from the blower to a loader especially with my cab on ad accessibility in removing the loader isn’t as easy once the cab is on. That being said I do think a snow blower would do a better job specially on my driveway and would handle deep snow like this much better also. Thanks for watching!

You need to get yourself a piece of steel pipe, slot it and put it over the cutting edge. I have a JD 1025 with a 54” blade with extensions and pipe cutting edge, unbelievable, you can roll right off the driveway onto the lawn no damage.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
I have debated doing this even back when I used my bucket to plow only with PVC instead, only I was afraid that with these really heavy and wet snowfalls once you drive over it or the snow gets even a little bit compacted the rounded edge of the pipe will surely ride over top of the snow I feel and will not cut through it.. because of this I never ended up trying it but maybe I’ll give it a shot some say. Thanks for watching!

To keep it in the shed, put the plow all the way up to the far wall, drop it from the loader arms and back off. Raise the arms and rest them on top of the plow. They aren't that heavy but I'd use a couple of 2 by 4s on top of the plow.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Thanks man, I debated doing this but the only reason I didn’t was because I didn’t expect to get this much snow, had we gotten even just 6-8” it wouldn’t be an issue as it normally isn’t. Also my shed is so tight for space I would have to pull the plow out each time I wanted to work in there which isn’t the biggest deal I suppose. Next time we get a big storm coming I’ll see if I can do this as getting to the plow was a bit difficult lol. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 2 года назад
That is a problem many homeowners face, but they just keep using a plow and wonder why their driveway continues to get narrower with each snow storm LOL. Most people can't get whatever their plow is attached to going fast enough to get the snow far enough away from their driveway so it just slowly encroaches on their most commonly already narrow driveway, pretty soon you are just driving on top of the berm of snow anyways so may as well have just left it where it fell. I have a snow blower for my lawn tractor, I can blow it over to the neighbor's yard if I wanted to LOL. Or across the road into the field...or what I'm very tempted to do is blow it through the window of the plow truck when it goes by seems how they can't seem to figure out how the hell to operate a snow plow....no houses across the street yet they throw all the snow into the driveways of everyone on this side of the street, rather than angling the plow blade the other way, or going up the road on the left side of the road, coming back down and making a 2nd pass up the road and pushing the snow off into empty fields. Most of the town I live in you can't plow the roads because there isn't any place to plow the snow too...yeah this town is still stuck in the 19th century it seems. So they plow the snow into the middle of the roads...if we get enough snow they have to bring in dump trucks to haul the snow out with...usually they dump it in the irrigation canals or into the river. Even in town a snow blower wouldn't do any good as there's no place to blow the snow too, but for many homeowners they could at least blow the snow far enough away from their driveway into the woods, or whatever rather than having no place to put it after a couple of storms.

Hey Philip you would be correct! If you have millings you could put kerosene in a weed sprayer and spray the driveway and it will make it almost like blacktop if you do it right.. I have spilled diesel fuel on my millings before and it’s made them hard as concrete only it didn’t last very long and eventually they loosened back up over time. Be careful tho as I think it’s illegal these days.

I find with blades no matter what you dig into the gravel 😞 I even have the bells on the sides set but they dig down too and I end up putting gravel on my lawn. Looking at this awesome artillian blade, I'd say a small rear snowblower with electric shute would perfect this set up 😀. Then you can get into the snow removal business in style!

I have the same issue with my shed. I cannot fit my BX in the shed with any front end attachments on. When I am expecting snow, I back in with the FEL plow on and drop the plow right in front of the doors, far enough forward so I can open and close the doors, and then back in. At most, I need to to clear two feet of snow between the shed and the plow. Pull out partially, hook up, and go, with full traction!

Haha yah it can be a struggle at times when you have a smaller shed, I would leave the plow in there and set the loader arms on top of it but then any time I want to do something in my shed I have this big plow I gotta trip on or move before I work so I felt it was hurt easier to leave it outside until my new garage gets built next summer. I always try to keep as many things off the ground as I can when I have limited space and it’s served me well so far haha. Best of luck and stay safe!

Hey Joe, the cab I have is an “original tractor cab” google “original tractor cab” their website will be the first one to pop up. Click on their cabs and select Kubota in the drop menu and you should see the cab for your model. It’s one of the best cabs you can get for the money, the price is extremely fair IMO as cabs are typically very expensive and being so cheap it still has some quality features like double doors on both sides as well as lots of accessory options if you choose to buy them later down the road. The cab also can be installed and removed in just under 20 min once it’s assembled for the first time out of the box. If you go to my “playlists” tab on my RU-vid channel you will see a playlist I have that is called “original tractor cab” in that playlist I show every single video I ever made relating to the original tractor cab.. you’ll get a ton of info from that playlist. If you can’t find it let me know I’ll give you a link 👍🏻

Hey Biff, anything I was going to say, has already been said in prior comments. That only leaves 1 thing. Did you catch the corner of your siding by the house door with the plow? I didn't see it broke at the beginning, but it's broken at the end of the video. Hey, shit happens :) This zero degree weather will help freeze thing up, that's for sure. Looks like more snow this week to keep you busy.

Hey Ron, it was actually previously cracked as I hit it last year with the pushbox and when I went by it with the plow It pulled the siding back out showing the crack again.. I never fixed it from last year I just tucked it back so the crack wasn’t showing and I didn’t tuck it back after I got done plowing this time.. it’s been getting worse I have to replace that corner. I actually hit it the first year I moved in also with the bucket if I remember correctly so it’s been hit more than a few times as I round that corner plowing over all these years

@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
You bucket will work just fine for you for a smaller driveway and that’s what many people use. Just drop the bucket down in float and curl the lip of your bucket up lightly so it’s not digging in and you’ll be all set. Also you may want to buy some Edge Tamers for the front lip of your bucket to make things a bit easier for you, they are basically skids for a bucket for plowing. If you go back to my way earlier snow plowing videos you’ll see that all I use to plow with was a bucket myself

@AndrewJohnson149 2 года назад
I have the same setup on my BX23S and didn't notice any added pressure on the loader arms.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Hey Glenn, I’m not sure what you mean by added pressure, do you mean because it pushes heavier snow so the resistance is more pressure or do you mean the weight of the plow being more pressure on the loader arms? I’m any event no I don’t think this plow adds anymore pressure than anything else you’d throw on the FEL. Also when the plow is on the ground it auto floats so there is almost no pressure being applied to the loader arms accept for the resistance of the snow that your pushing against. This plow has an auto float function so the plow itself will float up and down vs having your loader do it manually.. so all you gotta do is set the plow down on the ground to relive some tension on that chain and away you go. As for the loader your correct. I believe the bx2370 comes with an LA243 loader where as mine is an LA344 loader which comes on the new BX80 series tractors. I bought my tractor used with no loader on it so when I purchased the loader for it I asked for the Bx80 loader instead as it was easier to get and a much better loader with the quick Attach frame and front skidsteer coupler. So far Iv been really happy with this loader and it works just as well on an older Bx as it does on the newer BX80’s. Thanks for watching!

@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Hey John, great question. Your correct each style will certainly get the Job done there is no doubt about that! I mainly got the plow for a few reasons, one reason was because the pushbox was always a bit difficult to open up that first pass when we would get a ton of snow like this, I would have to Ram at it for awhile till I finally got through to the end so because of this I felt an angle plow being able to angle the snow to one side or the other would be better for these really heavy snow falls mainly better with those first opening passes. I also got it so at some point I could do a comparison video of a snow pusher vs plow and to show something a bit different for this winter on my channel to keep things interesting. The snow pusher is and will always be my favorite type of snow removal equipment as it’s insanely , simplistic, effective, and efficient for what it is but I do also enjoy using other types of plow equipment and the angle plow certainly has its benefits like being able to square up to any pile from any angle. That being said I still have my snow pusher and plan to still use it on lighter snow falls, keeping the angle plow mainly for heavier snow falls. Hope this helps explain it a bit. Thanks for watching John!

Hello again mr biff thanks for the info have another question for you when you up the lifting pressure for the Lowder does that give you more forward and reverse pressure on the hydrostat sorry one more question do you think there would be away to do independent brakes so you could steer when using the loader I think that’s the biggest down fall of all the sub compacts thanks again for the reply
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Hey Mike thanks for watching. As for increasing your relive valve pressure to increase loader lift capacity it to my knowledge has zero affect on your transmission or speed as the hydrostatic trans is internally regulated with its own relief valve. As for the independent brakes I 10000% agree with you! It’s always been my biggest issue with a sub compact, they really need to start offering a more expensive model with this option as it would be INSANELY helpful. I use the independent brakes plowing on any tractor that has them so I know I’d use them on my BX just as much. As for if you can make it independent that would be a big no because the brakes are setup inside the hydrostatic transmission so you wouldn’t be able to make them independent unless you split the transmission and did some insane modifications. These tractors are equipped with a “wet disk” and on a BX the single disk is controlling both left and right axles at the same time internally

I tried that already haha, that’s how I knew it wouldn’t fit, I couldn’t get enough curl on the blade and the hydraulic hoses were becoming really tight so I curled it as far as the hoses allowed me to and it still wasn’t even close because I have a chair and a shelf that’s also Infront of the plow keeping me from coming forward anymore. Was a good thought tho! I would just rest the loader arms on top of my plow but then anytime I wanna work in my shed I won’t be able to get around the tractor with out removing the plow first so I scratched that idea too :/

@BiffsEquipment

Possibly but they don’t come up for sale very often.. also the big reason I don’t run a snow blower is because I like to leave my loader on in the winter, as often I need my pallet forks, grapple, or bucket for other work around my house or side jobs during the winter so a front snow blower just really doesn’t work well for me. I wouldn’t want to have to remove the snow blower to install my loader every single time I needed to use one of my other front attachments you know? Nice man rubber cutting edges work great, I use them on our pushbox at work which I converted from steel to rubber. On my driveway tho it wouldn’t matter, if the plow had a rubber cutting edge I’d still be plowing up just as many stones since the stone never freezes.. if they stone froze u agree a rubber cutting edge would def be more gentle and slide over top bs digging it up like a sharp metal cutting edge would. They also are making hard plastic poly cutting edges now which I hear work really well too. Thanks for watching!

@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 2 года назад
Snow pusher is the same way, all you end up doing is building up a bunch of snow in front of the tractor that eventually you cannot push any farther, plus you can't angle it in order to push it aside....this is the same case with most people doing snow removal with their fancy equipment, they can't go fast enough to get it out of the way far enough to not cause issues with snow removal from future storms, so their driveway keeps getting narrower and narrower....having a blower would be the best option, and even at that you have to have a place to blow it to. In so many of these terribly designed subdivisions with no room between houses you still have no place to put the snow, and a snow blower would be a poor choice to as where the heck do you put the snow, unless you can get the snow blown into your yard and not into the neighbor's driveway, or onto their cars LOL.
