Haha you got it David! A lot of people just don’t realize how much work a small tractor like this can really do.. most of the people who say these tractors are worthless or too small have never even used one before.. you can’t go by looks that’s for sure.. these tractors have a lot more power and abilities than most would think and I’m glad I can show off it’s abilities well on my Channel and was actually the whole reason I started this channel.. I was sick and tired of people telling me my tractor couldn’t do any “real” work.. so I started this channel to show all the Nay sayers what a Kubota BX could really do! I appreciate the support for my Chanel!

From one Bx guy to another, I could see it was a tricky site with its slopes. Camera did not do it justice. That narrow toothed stump bucket can put a lot of pressure in a small space, amazing extraction pressure. The teeth addition on the Artillian stump bucket makes it a pretty impressive attachment. Thanks for sharing Mike.
@BiffsEquipment

Thanks Steve, I agree man the camera never does these kind of slopes justice, it was insanely steep.. when I first saw where the bushes were I told him I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get to them all but that I was glad to give them a shot. I’m glad I was able to get them all out for him and enjoyed the challenge. The new ripper front teeth from Artillian really worked great digging out those bushes, you can see how it locked right onto some of the bushes at the end and pulled them right out because of all the Serration on the teeth. Thanks for watching!

@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Thanks Andy, it was pretty sketchy (even for me!) haha. As for flipping the bucket upside down, you can do this as Iv done it in the past to clean the root balls off of stumps but in this situation it wouldn’t have helped give me any leverage because the issue was I couldn’t get enough down force from the above my tractor was at.. reversing the bucket woulda only made things worse as it woulda put the bucket teeth even farther from my loader thus loosing even more down pressure. Thanks for watching I’m glad you enjoyed!
@iSven08
@iSven08 5 месяцев назад
Why not get a suitcase weight bracket for the front? Would the extra weight help when using the stump bucket?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Месяц назад
Hey sorry I’m just seeing your comment! So the reason you can’t put a bracket or weights on the front is because they would interfere with the front end loader.. I actually have a custom front weight bracket that I built and made a whole RU-vid video on building it.. I use it when the loader is off when I need more weight in the front or for when I mow my lawn as I have a lot of steep inclines to go up.. I have actually forgotten to take the front weight bracket off before installing the loader before and this is how I know that it hits the loader frame haha 😆. It would be nice if there was a way to do both but there’s not.. but it’s not really needed anyways.. you can manipulate your tractor to put quite a bit of downforce on the loader all on its own if you do it right. Thanks for watching and check out my more recent videos!

@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Thanks man! Both are quality machines for sure, you can’t go wrong with either one of these machines. The Deere has more lift for sure and has a larger bucket, but has less torque than the Kubota and less PTO HP. The Kubota can also lift more with the 3-point than the Deere but both 3-point lift capacity’s are more than you’ll ever need. The Deere has a better sound to the engine IMO with the yanmar diesel but the Kubota diesel is overall a more powerful motor punch for punch. Both tractors have strong trans/front axles (you’d have to try VERY hard to break them) The Deere also has a slightly larger foot print being a touch longer and a touch wider and the Deere also turns tighter than the BX which is quite impressive giving it’s slightly larger wheel base. If I were you I’d go with whichever machine you get a better deal on.. or whichever dealer has a better record of taking care of their customers.. lastly sit on both machines and test them for yourself first.. as you may like how one drives/feels far better than the other as every person is different, plus be sure to feel the hydraulic functions of both machines to see which feels better to you👍🏻

@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Awesome man! I will def let you guys know my thoughts, the one thing that’s really nice about the 24” is you not only have a better sight on the end of the bucket to what your trying to dig but you can also dig much deeper which is huge in certain situations.. you’ll def loose a little bit of leverage on a sub compact tractor because of the extra length but if your a good operator you’ll be able to overcome it by manipulating your loader for extra leverage when you need it. I plan to do a dedicated video on the 24” bucket so I can show what it does on a sub compact as well as give my thoughts on it after using the smaller 16” for a few summers now. Thanks for watching!

@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Haha damn! I hate when you sell something and immediately regret it.. I think we have all been there before! A lot of guys buy a Bx and sell it before they truely have a chance to learn it and find out what all it can actually do.. they just assume or feel it’s too small when often it’s the operator who just isn’t using it correctly. Sounds like you have a good game plan tho.. I would HIGHLY suggest going with the B2601 or something similar specially if you liked your kubota BX.. the B2601 would be my next tractor for sure if I ever upgraded to something larger. Also the John Deere 2038R turbo is another awesome machine but it’s much harder to see the bucket and to do grading with but like anything else.. once you get use to it you’ll be fine.. it’s just a bit harder to learn on than say a B2601 IMO. Best of luck!

Truck looks good not too much rust. What's your secret? I started doing rust repair on my 2013 Suburban and it's got a spot right thru the rear fender already. My county salts a LOT in winter.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
The truck I have is a 99 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins 24 valve, it actually came from New Mexico which is why the paint is faded and why the clear coat is roached but because it came from such a hot/dry climate it stayed rust free it’s entire life. I live in NY where we get lots of snow and where we use TONS of salt so what I do each year is I undercoat the truck myself with oil.. I do it myself so I know it’s done well and done right and so far I havnt had any issues with rust, tho I am finally starting to get some surface rust on areas where the paint was rubbed off or chipped so those areas I try to keep covered in fresh paint/oil before every winter.. I need to hit those spots again this summer before the surface rust turns to rot but so far fingers crossed it’s been doing really good.. usually as long as you can keep the air off the bare metal it won’t rust.. so keeping it painted or oil coated will keep it from rusting since no air will be able to hit the metal.. that’s the key.. keeping the bare metal covered and washing your truck regularly in the winter to keep the salt off it. Hope this helps!

What size trailer do you use? I keep hearing people say that I will need a double axle but it looks like we have the same size tractor.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Hey David, so Iv used a 5x12 single axle trailer for many years now but I will say it’s not quite enough for these tractors.. you’ll want a bare minimum 6x12 tandem axle with out a backhoe.. with a backhoe you’ll want a 6x14 or 6x16.. my trailer had a heavy duty 3500lb axle under it which was why I was able to get away with it all these years but it was still at its max capacity and I would wear the inside of my trailer tires out because of it. I just recently purchased a new 6x15 tandem axle trailer which I’ll be showing in my new video this week so stay tuned! I explain why I upgraded it and it should help you answer some of your questions/concerns

I'd be willing to bet that your receiver has been overloaded a time or two judging by the angle that hitch comes out at, might want to check there are no stress fractures in the receiver so you don't lose a load going down the road!

Lol at first you confused me but now I know what your talking about. The reviver on my truck is at a slight angle downward because the previous owner actually built it himself.. when he built it he never welded it straight.. so it’s at a slight angle downward.. it’s not bent or cracked it’s just the way the guy built it. At some point I’d like to get a new one but there’s nothing wrong with it aside from it being at a slight downward angle

how much suitcase weight do you use
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Hey Terry, I use 8 42lb weights, plus my tires are filled, plus I have the quick hitch, and I also have 2” wheel spacers. Def makes a huge difference in stability and traction with these machines. The more weight you Can stick on them the more productive they become. Thanks for watching!

How much weight is on back of tractor
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
With my rear tires filled, my 8x 42lb suitcase weights, my rear quick hitch along with my weight bracket it’s about 600-650lbs I think .. usually anywhere between 400-500lbs is good tho for most users but I have my hydraulic pressure cranked to over 2,400psi so I needed more ballast to keep it well planted and digging well

How do you price a job like that?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
It’s kind of tough to explain.. since Iv been doing it so long now I usually price it by the job instead of by the hour.. since I can usually look at a job and know what kind of work it’s gonna take me to complete it and how much time.. I also try and factor in the amount of work my tractor will be doing.. the harder I have to work my tractor the more I’ll charge usually.. if it’s light work for the tractor then I charge less.. this kind of makes up for wear/tear and maint costs. Also don’t forget that every state, and every town is differnt.. some areas people have lots of money and yoi can get away with $150 an hour, other places people don’t have much money so they going rate would be maybe $60 an hour.. so it’s always a tough question to answer for people. Thanks for watching!

What rpm do you run at when doing work like this?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
Hey Eli.. I usually run it between 2400 and 2800 I believe.. I really don’t pay much attention to the actual RPM tho unless I’m running a PTO implement or mower.. I usually just go by feel and by sound.. you want the rpm up enough so that you have nice smooth hydraulics but you don’t want it so high that your burning unnecessary fuel and to where your loader may become jerky so each situation is a bit different but I found 2600ish is usually the sweet spot. Thanks for watching!

You must have had a full tank of fuel. Mine starts starving for fuel at angles like that.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 года назад
I did actually haha. But I have never had an issue starving out my BX on a slope.. maybe in just been lucky or never had the tank low when I was at such an angle but I’ve mowed some extreme slopes on my property with a near empty tank and never had an issue so I’m not sure
