Lots of work changing those oils and filters but you godder done . I cut off the bottom of a 45 gal plastic barrel for the oil to go into . Just had to make sure that it could be moved around underneath . One of my trucks takes 12 liters of oil . I hate getting oil on the driveway . Save my cardboard for the oil changes I also use shell 15-40 . Because of 1 of your older videos I got a set of Knipex pliers . They are great .

It’s a messy project! I was just happy there was more on the concrete than on my clothes. Good idea with the cardboard and the barrel. Glad you like those Knipex, they are great and I use them for everything. Keep on tractoring

Thanks for the idea Henry. I wish I had that idea for the Case. It take a little bit more than 5 gallons for the rear axle/transmission!

Here's what I find that works after raising up fel is to use a piece of angle iron on one or both hydraulic rods to keep cylinders going down for safety reasons. Some larger backhoes have that built in

there filters are pretty cheap for 2 sets of filters and hydrulic fluid and engine oil, battery for $ 480.00 for whole supplies wich isnt bad deeres here are around $980 for 2 filters and supplies
@jifi-0178
@jifi-0178 5 лет назад
TIP: You should write the engine hours and date that you changed the filter on each filter after you have it in place so it's easy for reference. i keep it in a service log as well, but it is nice to have it handy on the machine, too.

Good morning Sir, you did a very good job servicing this tractor and doing it by yourself you learn the tractor condition and save a ton of money ! Good basic maintenance is the key to have your tractor working in good order for a very long time !!! Keep up the good work !!! Cheers !!
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
I prefer doing general maintenance such as this by myself. So many people think they must let their dealer do this sort of thing. Theres nothing to it if you can turn a wrench. Plus like you said you can learn a lot about the condition of your tractor and save a ton of money. Thanks for the comment. Keep on tractoring!

How's she goin'? Addressing the needs of your tractor will ensure that the tractor will last a long time. Oil and fluids are the best way to maintain your gear. Take care!!!
@ODLife
@ODLife 5 лет назад
Man, a lot more fluid than our BX's!
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
Yeah, it's kind of surprising how much it will hold. Almost twice the UDT oil than our BX fuel tanks capacity. Not cheap either. About $300 for that service. Yikes. Keep on tractoring!

Have this same machine and love it ! Nice SIMPLE instructional video to give me confidence in DIY maintenance of this tractor ! THANKS ! Btw , wish I had that enclosed cab , at times, but I am sure our winters are a bit milder here in N.C. than where you are located.

Just a thought I see a lot of youtube videos doing a 50 hour maintenance, but none have mentioned the 50hour of the loader. The manual wants the torque checked on the main frame and sub frame bolts every 50 hours. Just happened to think of this. I know when I did the 50 hour on my L3560 a lot of them were loose. The torque says 166 ft-lbs.

Great video ! A good suggestion would be to write the date and engine hours on the filters . I use a paint pen when I do mine so at a glance I can tell when they were last done.

You might want to check out the manual call to adjust the front axle pivot at 600 hours. Also the manual calls for the changing the front axle oil at 400 hours. If that was the original hst filters, maybe the front axle oil didn’t get changed. They also call for greasing the front axle pivot and checking the front wheel toe in. Kubota has all their manual in PDF form so you can have it on your phone. Might not hurt to just go through everything the manual calls for from 50 to 600 hours. Would make some nice videos. Just a thought.
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
Yeah I saw that in the manual as well. Kubota actually has an app that links to all product manuals. It’s awesome! I might do a front axel maintenance video this summer eventually. Keep on tractoring.

The old filter wrench is definitely built better than the new ones they have today. I hope I never lose it! I don't know how I would have got that filter off if I didn't have dad's old filter wrench. Brielle was a good supervisor for me and the whole job took a few hours. Keep on tractoring and God bless.

One of the reasons I was looking at this video was to try and figure out where the add oil port for the HST system is. I have been all though my book, the internet and everywhere I can think of and nothing. Great video though.

Back of the tractor near the top linkage of the three point system. You’ll need a narrow spout funnel. Good luck! 👍

I prefer angle irons tie strapped to the exposed rods on the lift cylinders on the loader. The angle iron should be slightly larger than the rod cylinder. That 2X4 is bowing it could snap into instantly and drop quickly while you are under the hood. Depends on how much fluid has leaked off, the loader could drop very fast and pin you under the tractor.
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
I didn’t say it was OSHA compliant. I didn’t notice the 2x6 bowing and it’s really all I had. If I was smarter I should have just taken the loader off to compress the cylinder more and drain addition oil. Live and learn I guess. Thanks for watching. Keep on tractoring!
@stanleyjohnston5876
@stanleyjohnston5876 5 лет назад
, you could have turned the 2×4 on edge to make stronger.

Don't use slip joint pliers on drain plugs, you will eventually round the corners off. Always use box-end wrench and/or socket wrench.
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
The plies I used were not your average slip joint pliers. They are called Knipex pliers. I discovered them on another RU-vid channel and since owning them they’ve become my go to tool. Check them out! You’ll love them! Keep on tractoring!!

VacTrac is a new device that prevents hydraulic fluid from gushing out when changing the filters. It works. I always use one and boy does it help. Makes filter changes cleaner, easier and a lot faster. Here’s a link. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KKQRYAsFwNk.html

@windzer
@windzer 5 лет назад
You'll be able to get more of the old oil out if you have all of the hydraulic cylinders retracted since the rod takes up room inside the cylinder meaning loader arms down and outriggers up just so ya know next time. be safe jon
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
Yep, you’re right. Didn’t think about the volume the piston rod would take up vs the cylinder extended. Rookie mistake. Next time! Keep on tractoring!

I have the same tractor. Do you have to purge the air out of the fuel system after changing the fuel filter. There is a procedure for that. I put the fuel filter housing on loose then turn the fuel on and let it fill . There is also a bleeder valve on the system. Nice Video. Keep them coming.
@ritterjon

How much for all the parts ? Glad to see you run Rotella T, Does the book call for 15/40 ? My b series called for 10/30 but I ran that Rotella then switched to full synthetic Rotella T6 think it's 5/40. Keep on Tractoring ! You'll probable never have to change that Hydraulic fluid again just change the filters every 300 or 400hrs clean the magnet and add the difference in fluid, could change it all every 900 Hrs but don't think you are going to be using that machi e that many hrs! Do you have a trailer that will hold that machine.?☺
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
It wasn’t cheap that’s for sure. All in all it was about $300 for fluid and filter change. Another $170 for a new battery. So almost $500 all together but with that using Kubota parts and the right HST oil I get peace of mind for many years to come. I have a trailer that can haul it with but it’s not quite heavy duty enough to be legal. So short distances and backroads maybe. Keep on tractoring
