This is a just a video to explain the L2271 Kubota Hydraulic Spill Valve option as well as some other options I did on the L6060. I appreciate all the videos people do on options but I could not find one that showed the Spill Valve, so I thought I'd pay it forward. :)

Man those big wide front tires were one of the selling points of the MX tractors over the grand Ls. I’ve wondered about this same upgrade for a while now seeing as I’m considering buying a larger grand L series or MX series.
@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 3 года назад
Yep, These are actually 1" wider than the MX series and about an inch and a half shorter diameter to keep the 4wd ratio correct. 4WD works better than factory now IMO with a 1% lead instead of the 1% lag with the factory front tires. Turns nicer in 4wd now without tearing as much up at full turn, especially on the lawn. If your dealing on the tractor yet, have them work in a pair of MX style rims only and buy the tires yourself. They should do that easy enough since the rims themselves aren't that expensive. Especially at their cost. I had them throw the rims in on my deal and traded in the factory L series rims and tires back to them for a credit. YMMV.

@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 3 года назад
@@Ryan_Maineaquaria Yep, just remember you DON'T want the TIRES (12-16.5) that come with the MX though, you need the 31.5x13x16.5 tires I have in the video and mount them on the MX style rims for the L series. Then the 4WD is happy!

Shared the part about the different rims and wider tires with my dealer the other day. My new L6060 is coming in from the factory any day now. He said that for warranty reasons he would not put those rims/tires on my machine. I’m also waiting on news about the availability of R14 tires for the L6060. The R14 option was recently made available for the MX6000.
@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 3 года назад
@@wildieken2641 sounds like the dealer being overly cautious. My dealer was the one who actually mounted the wheels to my tires and put them on the machine before I picked it up. If it's the drive ratio they are worried about, it's actually better with the tires I have. Turns nicer, tears the lawn up less, and noticeably less bind than the factory setup. I'm not at all worried about this setup but you do have to live with your local dealer on warranty, so I get it. My dealer's service manager drove it in 4wd on hard ground. He was impressed and commented that this is how they should have come from the factory.

@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 Месяц назад
@WayneDenny44 if you had 10-16.5 tires on the factory wheel, the 31.5 x 13x 16.5 Skid Power HD from BKT has the correct rolling circumference. They may look a bit taller with no weight on them, but the calculations are right for that brand tire. And they are just slightly taller loaded. That's what gets you to a 1% lead situation instead of the factory 1% lag situation. Works great on my rig. If you have a different brand tire, they could have a different rolling circumference. You may have to check...

I have an L4060 HSTC on order (when it comes in, nobody knows) and one of the things I was thinking of was this exact option. Now after seeing it in operation, pass. What got me thinking about it is I was loading logs into a truck and trailer yesterday with my B2410, and that loader in one at a time, can't dual function it, so its a balancing act of keeping the bucket level while raising so a log doesn't roll back. I can't get over how quiet it is with the cab. I was in both a JD 3046R and a Mahindra 1538, both were louder, the Mahindra was especially loud. I ordered mine with dual ports in the back, didn't know there was a third option, where is that lever located? Would love to see a video on full operations with each lever, especially for that loader setup you have.
@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 2 года назад
There are slots for all three rear valves in the panel for the 60 series. Adding the 3 rear valves just fills them up. All function the same depending if you ordered standard or float detent valves. I installed 2 standard and 1 float detent just in case I needed it. Your dealer may be installing them when the tractor gets to the dealer in which case, is not much labor to install 3 valves vs 2 since the stack together on the chassis anyway. And you can still dual function the loader on the 60 series. Just the spill valve stops from full curl at the topmost operation of the loader. Like I say, I could have lived without it myself. I wanted a full self leveling loader and the spill valve is not the answer for that. 👍

@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 Год назад
Sorry I don't have the part number handy. But the dealer should have it handy in the sales department. The parts department will have trouble finding it because it is an accessory available at time of purchase. So it will be in the order software for the tractor. Then parts can order that part number. 👍

Really like the front tire change. I have a L4060 with R4's. You mentioned a ratio of 15640 and not being a tire guy, this is front to rear or vice versa?
@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 3 года назад
It's the mechanical ratio front to rear on the 4wd system of the Grand L's. 1.5640. If you get rolling circumference of the tires, you can figure out if you are in the correct lead/lag allowance for 4wd. Factory tires are in a slight lag situation. Meaning the rear tires are slightly faster than the front, pushing the front but only by about 1%. My tire set up is about 1% lead where the front is slightly faster. I like this scenario better as it turns better with less drag. Especially on the lawn. Rule of thumb is you want to be within 5% otherwise you can cause damage to the 4wd. Keep in mind rolling circumference changes with load and tire pressure so your ratio can fluctuate. You can play with a calculator here if you get the rolling circumference for your tire from the manufacturers website. www.titan-intl.com/resources/Lead-Lag-Calculator

@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 Год назад
@@ohioblue672 They do have to prove the change caused any issues. I can positively tell you that this ratio works better than factory, because it closer to the correct ratio front to rear than they came from the factory IMO. And having a slight "lead" situation is better for the 4wd, especially when turning. I've forgotten to disengage the 4WD between my Dad's place and mine (3 Miles) on clean asphalt and it wasn't noticeable at all in driving and did not heat up the transmission either. The factory setup was noticeable (would push in turns) and would cause damage if run excessively in 4WD for long periods IMO. But this is just my experience and you do have to live with your dealer on warranty. So to each their own. I've had a few people tell me this is how they should have come from the factory and I agree. 2 years on this setup and have had zero issues with MUCH less tearing up of the lawn when in 4WD. Cheers!

I'm not too worried about that on this. I actually have the front to rear gear 4wd ratio at a 1 percent lead instead of the lag situation it had with the stock tires. I can tell the 4wd system is much happier now.

@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 3 года назад
@@wildieken2641 I just used it all this weekend and going out with it this morning again. 4 in one buckets are a Swiss army knife in my opinion. They do a lot of jobs but don't really excel at any of them. Just nice not to switch buckets all the time. I would say the Kubota bucket seems to work well. I'm helping a friend clear some trees with it. It's no grapple, but it will get you by if you need it too. I recommend finding the best bucket with the lightest weight. I can really tell the bucket is on the machine even when its empty. The Kubota bucket has got some weight to it, but I know it's lighter than most 4 in one's.
@wildieken2641
@wildieken2641 3 года назад
@@Longslyde1 Totally agree with you on your analysis on the 4 in 1 Bucket. I believe the W.R. Long bucket is about 100 pounds heavier than the Kubota. I just thought of another issue. What have you done for Ballast? It looks like you don’t use the Kubota Wheel weights. I probably start on mine by putting fluid in the rear tires and take it from there. I currently have a NH TC33 Tractor and foam filled the front tires which worked out well. Kubota is also making optional R14 Tires available for some of their product lines. Not yet available for the L6060.
@Longslyde1
@Longslyde1 3 года назад
@@wildieken2641 yeah admittedly I don't use ballast. I use the tractor a lot on the lawn and I just use a rear mount implement like a blade when I really need the weight. And I haul the tractor regularly and just don't need to lug the extra weight on the trailer when I don't need to. I struggled with putting ballast in the wheels, but happy that I didn't. I can throw a 400lb implement on the back and being that is out behind the tractor, I get more leverage per lb than wheel weights. Works well for me anyway but each their own of course. Ymmv.

I believe all 60 series have the same ratio. You could verify by checking front and rear tire sizes stock between the L6060 and your model. If they match up between the models, the gear ratio is the same and this change can be done in the same way. 👍

@First Choice Mechanical Most 12-16.5 tires are 32.70" - 33" height, these are 31.5", do you're own research to verify it. Different brands of tires will have different rolling circumference. Some may be close with shallow tread. Not looking to flame anyone but I want to make sure people realize they are different heights and will throw the ratio off. 12-16.5 tires on an L series will bind the 4wd a bit with most brands of tires. Although it may not cause damage, it isn't the best scenario on the L series. It will "work", but to each their own.... research your tires and use the calculator to make sure you're within 5% lead/lag and you will be within the guidelines.
