Hey Chris you bring up some valid points in your review. The tool box and the buddy seat definitely need improvement. However, the M4-071 Deluxe has a deluxe seat and is close to the air ride seat comfort you mentioned. The fender mounted 3 point adjustment module is available as an add on, and its invaluable in hooking up implements. It along with a QH20 made a huge difference, especially as I get older. Thanks for the video.
I am looking at getting one of these so this video was very helpful, not nit picky at all. I want to know real world use pros and cons. I also read all the comments because they are often invaluable in picking up information. Surprised one commenter seemed offended by your review lol. There are hundreds of technical vids about the specs, so why get upset. Great review
@@dehavenfamilyfarm yeah were looking at getting 5 or 6 of them kubota tractors with loaders with the price tag on them they were the cheapest brand on the market here and best discounts and best warranty wich couldnt beat it were thinking on buying a M4-071 for doing sidewalks and land scaping jobs,M5-111 M6-141 and M 7-171 for bigger jobs
I agree on the fender buttons as that should be standard in this day and age. I also agree pto start is violent. My massey has a soft start. The clutch on the kubota is a little rough as well. They need a sensitivity control on there shuttle shift.
@@farming4g the rep helped me set it up. It was in the dash function on the massey. I will look and see if i can find it. It makes it slip the clutch a little.
Thank you! Selling the tractor was not something that was planned, but circumstances sure have changed this year. Video to come on the subject. Thanks for watching!
Nice review Chris!! Doesn't matter what color it is, it will be missing something you want. Things aren't in the perfect spot.. Electronic PTO, most likely still hydralic, but the selenoid is either on or off, no feathering. The buddy seats are put in for the salesman, as long as it's used for it's intended purpose, it doesn't need any padding.. Never had any 3 point buttons on anything. That's what the quick hitch is for. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks Ed! You know, I never bought a quick hitch because I see so many people struggle with them since there is no standard spacing on the three point implements. Seems like the quick hitches will work on one thing, but not another without modification lol
@@dehavenfamilyfarm bigger equipment is pretty much standard as far as I know.. at one point we had 4 big tractors with quick hitches.. now only one, because we don't have much big 3 point equipment anymore..
Looks like a nice machine man. They all have their pluses and minuses. I have air ride, and my bumpy fields hurt my butt after several hours. I throw a towel or flannel on it for additional padding.
Not a bad tractor. Though it seems a little bare bones for what you pay for. In my opinion you can get a Massey ferguson 4707 with a 4wd cab and loader for around $55k.
It's also made in China, quality is substandard just like the John deere and Mahindra in India. Buy a Kubota and maintain it. Differences honda, Chevrolet
I work for kubota and we just built one for farmer. The rear 3 point drop levers on outside of tractor are still not available. Which is why i kept my kioti rx7320 which has that option . Its just a lever on that model. I dont like the exhust. Its right ib my view. Not to helpful when loading logs or mulch. Kioti has it on the bottom side of the hood . Kioti has no buddy seat on that model
Watch out changing the loader pins for extra lift. On a lot of the newer type loaders they've got them setup to where you gain lift capacity, but even though you wouldn't think it - you lose digging depth and if the loader already doesn't let down low enough for dealing with awkward terrains, well... Also - yeah that toolbox would get relocated the first week if it wasn't torn off in the mud or something :)
Almost 3k!! Nice job! Brand new wrapper for sale?! Great visibility! Yes for that market where a lot of folks might not have quick hitch a remote and 3pt on the fender would go great with telescoping arms. Have to have air ride especially with no large radials.
Thank you, although I am sure I missed some detail LOL I never even used that toolbox, I ended up putting one in the cab. Not sure what the engineers were thinking....
They should have built the tractor heavier. My Montana t7074(john deere 2.9 3cyl) it is an animal compared to this kubota!!! The tractor I own is an '06 and it has exterior 3 point controls on the fender and is way better equipped in most every way, it even has a fridge in the cab. I paid $25,000 for mine with 760 hrs. on it last year. I was offered $37,000 by a guy who leases cattle ground from me, I said no as I can't find a replacement as nice or as well equipped for less than $60,000. When you look at my tractor next to another 70hp-75hp tractor it looks much beefier too by a bit. I wish they could build them without the dpf system like the older 🚜 😕. Thanks for the videos!!!
I have the M-7060 and really wish it had the option for wider front wheels. My F-N-R selector has to be raised way to muck. So what you have is an improvement and I would like but maybe it needs to be more to the middle of the 2. I haven't used your so not sure I agree or disagree on this one. I have an air ride set a you are definitely right, it is a must for field work. On everything else I think you were right on spot. With the macanical 3 point control the button will not work but it is definitely a need feature. Did I miss why you are selling?
I really am glad they offered the wider wheels, and wish I had paid the extra for the air ride seat. I have a video coming soon about why I sold the tractor, but I will say it wasn't because I had any issues with it or the dealer 🙂
I have the m7060 with the air ride seat it's always malfunctioning from new, the tool box is a joke, it's not a woods tractor, it made strictly for clear cut fields, I was brush cutting a field and I drove over a limb which tore off the fuel line. and another time I was hauling skidding logs and a stick got jammed in exterior gear linkage, the fuel tank is underneath along with the hydraulic pump. So its not made for forestry work. It would be nice if there was a skid plate option which there isn't. Over all I like the tractor and, I would get the m4 it's a bigger cab. I didn't have that option back then.
Are you able to get me the length from tip of bucket to end of 3pt arms?! Looking to see if it will fit in the garage and my local dealer is struggling to find me the measurement as they have non on the lot!
@@dehavenfamilyfarm I don't know about the "global" tractors...but a 5700 series would get me excited ;) Ervin has your dream tractor in Newville! www.tractorhouse.com/listings/farm-equipment/for-sale/198810549/2016-massey-ferguson-5710
Great video. I’m just wondering if it will handle light hay duties on steep terrain. Trying to find something big enough for haying while small enough for some of the larger compact tractor work.
That is exactly why I bought this size tractor. It worked very well in both applications. I would just recommend adding a good amount of weight to the rear like I did for hilly work.
Do you feel that the power was adequate for what you were doing. I have more wooded average and do tree work do you think this tractor would be a good choice?
Yes, it was a perfect tractor for raking hay, loading bales, hauling wagons, etc. I did use it a few times with a grapple on the front, and it works well as long as I kept an attachment on the three point hitch for counter weight. Thanks for watching!
Fabio Forni: yeah M4-071 is great for tree work and side walk plowing in winter and landscaping and mowing big lawns and M5 ,M6,M7,M8 are great for doing huge big giant jobs
I have looked at adding one to our operation, I believe we would go with the deluxe model for the extra's already installed. My gripe is the muffler being out in front and not next to the pillar, Your thoughts on that? Lastly I'm interested to know why you are selling as well. Thanks in advance.
I really didn't think the exhaust was noticeable during operation. The reason I sold the tractor will be in an upcoming video, but I will say it was not because I had any issues with it or the dealer. It was a solid, reliable tractor. Thanks for watching!
Interesting take on things and surprises me kubota doesn't off those little creature comforts and controls.. Having leased a few M7s they had a lot of the options you mentioned that you wanted and usually it seems like most will throw on every option to get the bigger price . Kubota def needs to work on some cab quality things if they want to be on level of Case or Deere. I have ran a few different Agco tractors and they are even lacking more than kubota on fit and finish in cab and the controls are even more antiquated. But Agco is slowly bringing in the Fendt Line in smaller size and they will be the Real deal tons of options and build quality would be Cadillac or better. I am going to try the Case Vestrum soon which is there Cadillac tractor with tons of options
@@dehavenfamilyfarm I drove 3.5 hrs for mine...dealer support around me is laking so I can understand that much but at 10k savings i can have A LOT of stuff fixed before those prices equal out.
Nice Chris, you mentioned it is in the 70hp range and a bit lighter than other competitors, will it pull a 3 bottom plow in heavy soil, I try to make a comparison with a Ford 5000 with 69hp that we used in heavy turf soil with a Fomoco 3 bottom plow and did well, I guess with the advantage of 4 wheel drive it will handle it good, what is your opinion
I never had a plow on the tractor, but did pull a 12' disc with it. I needed 4wd, and every available hp it had, but it did pull it without complaint :) I imagine it would have handled a three bottom without an issue.
It was a great tractor. For me, it came down to my budget. I needed an excavator for my other business, which makes more money than the farm, so I traded the M4 in on a Kubota excavator. Unfortunately I could not afford to have both. I would not be afraid to buy one 🙂
Kubota, best equipment for the money hands down...if your rich get the best of the best....r series john deere...but if you aint rich, drove orange or just waste your money on junk
I'm an IH guy and consequently a Case IH guy. It's unfortunate that you had such bad luck with the Farmall A tractors. But the A series are the cheapest of the cheapest that Case IH offer. Your 55A, and the later 75A that the dealer provided you with, are built in Turkey. The 70A without a cab that you had briefly is built in India. Quality control in these countries would be really poor, hence the cheap price. This Kubota is a $50K tractor. An equivalent Case IH in this price range would be a Farmall C. These are built in Italy, and are much better built than the Farmall A, even if still not quite as good as the Kubota. Then you have the Maxxum, Vestrum, Puma, Optum and Luxxum (not available in north America yet) built in Austria - these have even better build quality that the Italian built machines. Basically what I'm saying is - I love watching your classic IH and Case IH stuff and I think it's disappointing that because of you experiences with the Farmall A series, you feel like all modern Case IH stuff is junk. Case really messed up with naming so many of their lower hp ranges with the name "Farmall". That just adds confusion to buyers. It's so easy to mistake a Farmall A, C, U as being the same tractor. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of the classic stuff :)
To be honest, I wouldn't say all the new Case IH tractors are junk. The Farmall C series tractors seem like a good tractor, and I would have been interested in one if I had good dealer support in my area. That's really how I ended up with the Kubota- great dealer support. Though I do have to say, my older Maxxums are still my favorite :)
@@dehavenfamilyfarm Of course dealer support will always be the critical component with any purchase. You did give your Case dealer some praise at various stages of your Farmall A nightmare, but I personally think your dealer got it wrong when supplying you with Farmall A, and then further emphasizing this mistake by upgrading the 55A to a 75A. Your dealer should have been able to look at your operation and the tractors you run, and based on that come to the conclusion that the Farmall A was just not the right tractor for you. But it's all irrelevant now. Lessons learnt and time to move forward. Your 5140 looks great, and I did love that MX100c. I think an MX135 would look great in your shed :)
probbly like more hp wich M5 has 105hp up to 115hp and M6- 111 has 100hp to 115hp and M6-141 has 141hp and M7-131 has 131hp,132hp, and M7-131 has 130hp, 131hp,M7-171 has 168hp to 171hp
I bought a new m4D-071 in October 2019, only had it for about 9 months and 170 hrs, I talked to the dealer about how aggressive the reverser was not sure if I asked about the pto but there is no adjustment they are on or off, apparently they do not use modulating valves for those features
@@FarmallFanatic well not so much i have done a ton of focus groups on tractors with case its more about cost and tryin to find a spot for some features lol heated arguments to the point i wanted to punch the engineers
I would say so, kubota and deere are more refined than the other companies and especially kubota because for their bullet proof engine and fast hydronic. I mean there is a reason why my family has to of them
@@dehavenfamilyfarm Yes and I worked for kubota and own 2 of them so I am biased > Not any details about actual performance > re gen or lift stability > other than you hate the seats > like the window pillars not a lot of substance for a review and a review of a product is doomed when you start off these are all going to the sale > 160hr tractor is barely a year old and by the way yes the tool box sucks so does JD and that thing in the way is the main frame that the side frame receivers sit in for loader dismount from. sorry you did not like my response maybe posting publicly is not for you if you have such thin skin
@@christopherheist1120 lol you seem to be more offended than me. I make these videos with my regular viewers in mind. That being said, all my regular viewers know how much I love Kubota equipment, they know tons of background about the tractor because it's either been in, or mentioned in lots of videos and they know the reason why I am getting rid of it. If I was selling something because it was junk, I would say so as I have in the past. The video is only meant to be a general overview of my opinion of the tractor, not a sales video discussing every specification. If I seem picky to you, it's only because I really did like the tractor and had a tough time finding things I didn't like about it 😉
