Great 3 year review, it helped a lot. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new L2501 and it was great to hear no regrets on the DT transmission and that the 25 HP is enough. I have never owned an automatic transmission vehicle in my life and hated the idea of an HST. I'm over in the Adirondacks so will be using it same as you for pushing snow on a long driveway, a little brush hogging and sneaking around the woods for firewood.
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305
Well, that’s exactly what ours is used for.

My "kubogy "MX5200 TLB 5 1/2 year old 900hr unit is a pure "grease hog" . Ya put it in and slobers it out in 15 minutes--- NO sealing what so ever;;; aka sloppy-wobbley-shifty hydraulic cylinder mounts( not the pins). No problems & excellent service & dependability. And yes it's a shuttle shift gear drive. My Massey-Ferguson 1736m power-shuttle is almost a perfect tractor, because it " out-shines" the Kubota in SO MANY WAYS ( IT IS young though,time will tell). I ALWAYS USE KUBOTA FILTERS also. A good solid review. Just wish this model had amplifying bucket-linkage assembly's on the loader & a 8×8 transmission. Thank you for the great Video Sir and happy tractoring.

We have a friend with a Massey. He loves it and says it works great. No matter the name, as long as it does what you need. Thank you for watching and Happy Tractoring to you too!
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305
Yes, I don’t understand what it is with these manufacturers that make the pins (which are supposed to be the ‘wear part’) harder than the welded in bushings. This seems to be the case with almost all manufacturers. I just don’t get it. I also with the 525 loader came with torque amplifiers, but I’m sure they would wear even worse, as they would take most of the load/work.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2013 L3200 for brush mowing and discing, gear drive it's been a excellent machine. I also have a 2019 B2301 HST dedicated loader tractor. Both are not emission equipped so that works out great. I wouldn't be able to maintain my rural property without them. My favorite equipment to use. Add my SXS UTV and I'm set forever.

Hey Scott, great review. I have pretty near the very same tractor and set up. I have the gear drive, ag tires. I have my wheels set out and wheel spacers added and the tires filled with rim guard. I replaced the tool box, built a chain saw carrier, added golf cart mirrors, added the right side handle, added an led light bar on the front, steering wheel spinner knob, log chain box, and covered the floor boards with truck bed liner. One nice thing about the gear drive vs. the HST is the gear drive will outpull the HST badly. No contest there. You lose pulling power by forcing all that hydraulic fluid through the smal orifices. I would like to see a shuttle shift version but that’s not likely to happen. Price point issue I would guess.
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305
They are a really great machine, providing the operator knows what they’re doing. People will cry about the “live” PTO thing, but they can’t ever seem to come up with any reason why it matters. After all, the pto works exactly like the old Ford 8n, or the International Harvester 300 utility. Not only does the gear drive machine put more power to the ground, it also retains its horsepower to the pto. The hydrostatic machines lose close to 1/3 of their estimated horsepower at the pto.

Excellent review. I bought the L3301 a few years ago and had tremendous trouble with the DPF regeneration system. It would run 10 hours and then stop right in the middle of a work project and take 45 minutes or so to go through its burn off. Wasted a lot of my time, dealer had to come out several times to reset it, greatly frustrating!! After 110 hours of grief I traded it on a Mahindra which are DPF free. I still like Kubota and think you were wise getting the model you chose. It should give you many years of grief-free service. I also own a Kubota M5700 which I have used trouble free since I bought it new in 2003. In February 2022 I placed an order for a Kubota B2401 gear but it still hasn't arrived and it is now almost September. I'll be glad when it finally gets here. Like you, I prefer a gear transmission.

I’ve heard others have similar problems from all manufacturers. Even at work with real heavy equipment. They rob a lot of horsepower too.

Thanks for the review. I just took delivery of my new L2501 last weekend. Unless you mentioned it in your first review, you didn't mention the bucket level indicator. I noticed you did add one on. I also got the quick attach for the front loader along with the bucket and pallet forks. For the back I did end up getting a box blade and a post hole drill. I will be building a big 30x50 shop that need to set posts in before I pour the floor and new fence line another the whole two acres. Mine won't do near as much as yours, but she'll serve me well as I continue to age and don't won't to be killing myself sooner than I need to doing all the heavy manual labor. I installed a second solar array that required me to dig six four foot deep post holes. It took me two weeks to dig those holes in our fun Texas summer heat. Water hole, dig three inches, repeat the next day. I will be adding another 60 panels to my solar system and it too will require possibly an additional 12 posts that are four foot deep. I did rent a gas power auger, but the dried up Texas soil just laughed at me. The post hole digger is a pain to disconnect, and so far I haven't reconnected it since I got it nor have I used it yet. Anyway, I'm eager to do some work with it and have her take care of us for years to come. She'll be garage kept and power washed on the regular.

Good reasons and I agree with your rationale. I have a L3800, so we share some tastes. I prefer not having to mess with the Tier 4 emissions with our L3800, but we did opt to find one with the HST transmission, which has been flawless for us. These are great tractors. I've only had to do two repairs on mine: 1. The tach cable was busted and an easy fix, and 2) I bent my loader's front support by being too aggressive with y grapple. Dumb mistake on point 2, but lesson learned on what I can and can't do with the machine.
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305
The tach cable broke on ours at around 50 hours too. Fortunately, our dealer (Wallingford’s Equipment) replaced it right here in the driveway all under warranty. Good service is everything !

@@WhiskeynSunshineOffGrid By the way, Scott: I checked out the latest specs today on the L-2501 and Kubota has gone to the Tier 4 diesel on this one too. I guess the only way to get one without Tier 4 is to buy a used or new old stock tractor.

Excellent video describing your 2501. Just confirmed in my decision to get a 2501. No DEF to deal with either. I appreciate you taking the time to share your 3 year review as well. I do like your tire chains just don’t know if it will be practical for me since we have a concrete drive. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experience’s. Much appreciated sir.
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305
I don’t believe chains will bother your concrete at all. Especially in winter. If you run them on hot top, on a hot day, different story. They are also available without the studs.

Gear Drive Destroys the HST for doing work. We had these at the Port doing long shore man work. We pulled 110 000 lbs with these. The kubota engine run in the referrers and last up to 90 to 110 thousand hours. We had the clutchs last up to 6000 hours. Kubota gear drive is a NO issue tractor to do work.

Hey Scott, since this video, Kubota now has floormats that came out for the L2502, 3502, and 3902. They'll fit the L2501's I bought some from my local dealer, and they were like $115.00 or so for the set.

When you say you have larger rims and tires . Can you explain ..I also want a set up like you have .
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305
@scottfromwhiskeynsunshine305 8 месяцев назад
The tire/wheel sizes vary. They give you options based on your intended usage. Most folks go with the R4 tires. That gives you a wider, fatter tire tire/wheel combo. The R4s are more like the tires you’d find on construction equipment. The wheels are also wider. The R1 setup is more of an agricultural, or forestry tire. They are taller, narrower, and the rear wheels are two piece that can be reversed to change the offset, providing a wider stance. The only downside I see to the R1s is that they hold less ballast than the R4s or R14s. I’m over 4 years into this machine, and I’m totally happy with my R1s. It really depends on what you’re Going to be using the machine for. Our’s gets used for harvesting firewood, and maintaining our private road.
