This truck is a 2001 Ford Ranger with a Kubota Turbo Diesel engine. This thing needs a lot of work, and it may not be a first gen, but it is cool.... or at least Mike thinks so!
any suggestions or comments are welcome!

Do you know the exact engine that's in your truck?

Following along guys. I run Kubotaswappers.com and make a number of these transmission adapters. Unfortunetly i have not got my hands on one of these rangers to make an adapter. Good luck with the rebuild. I am currently swapping 2 1992 cherokee xjs for customers. Good luck on the rebuild!!! I have more videos of yours to watch!

+Ken Stauffer That's awesome, glad to have you following along. Hope you enjoy the videos, the truck has really come a long way since we started. Looking forward to seeing your progress on the xjs. Do you ever have heat issues with your swaps? We have noticed that in higher gears we have to really watch the EGT's so that we don't melt the pistons. Not sure how to tackle the issue yet.

Shifted Interests - Chris Boot. have you advanced the timing?depending on serial number and stock timing you can usually pull a majority of the shims under the injection pump to advance to about 12*. That will drop your egt. I havent gotten thru the videos so this may be answered but what intercooler are you running? Ken

haha yeah Canadian winter roads and vehicles don't mix very well. pretty much any vehicle up here that drives the winter roads will need panels replaced after 10 years or sooner. these panels and the box should have been replaced years ago already

Imagine if you keep the cap on WITH a stack? the smoke would seep out of the edges of the box :P

It could probably work, but it would have its own set of challenges.

We are considering it. Although a flatbed might cost considerably more than a box.

+Brett Day berry Well, this box is garbage. It's already gone to the scrap yard. Either it's going to have a new box put on, or a flatbed. Still working out a budget and final build style before we decide.

It would be hard to find a flat that fits the ranger.

Hey I’m lookin to do a tdi swap on my 1989 ranger single cab shortbox But how did u get it through emissions with it swapped to diesel. I live 20 min from Woodstock where u guys are.

The easiest way is to use farm plates if that is an option (you have to be a farmer though). Funny story, we didn’t have to do any emissions test with the truck yet. There must be some new rule, because it surprised us. But it’s not due for a test yet.

Hey guys. I've been watching your channel for a while now and i've really enjoyed your videos. I'm 16 and I've been interested in trucks ever since i was about 8-9. I really started getting into automotive when I was around 13. I know the basics about engines and vehicles, but I have almost no experience using tools, equipment and doing mechanic work. In the future, I hope to get a chevy square body or a first gen cummins restore it. I was wondering where you guys learned how to work on the trucks, and do all the mechanic work. Like how did you learn about diesels, trucks, engine tuning and how to go about restoring them?

To be honest we just started also I think all three of us can thank our dads for teaching us the basics. Another thing believe it or not was RU-vid there's plenty of videos on how to do stuff.

The best way to learn is to do..... But be prepared to make mistakes, and that's fine, as long as you learn from those too. And RU-vid helps... If we get requests to go into detail on a specific fix, we could help out that way. It's good to see that we aren't the only ones our age who are interested in this stuff :)

the main thing for me is dont be scared to try new things. but when using tools you are not experienced with be careful so you dont get hurt.

don't be like us.... use ALL the proper safety gear required for every job. hand protection, ear protection, eye protection, and breathing protection! We don't want our viewers getting hurt!
