Hey Guys,
As you know, we like to do a nightlife video everywhere we go & Kuching is no different. So we went out feeling keen as to show you guys some Kuching Nightlife... and literally nothing was happening.
To be fair, it was a Monday night so this could be a factor.
Now we don't mind quiet nightlife as we are definitely not party animals so this was our kinda nightlife.
It was however not the vlog we set out to make tonight so please forgive the lack of interesting things happening.
We were able to try some interesting Kuching food & Ais Krim Gula Apong.
Kuching does however have a beautiful water show in front of the parliament building on the waterfront & it is absolutely beautiful. The water show is nightly at 8:30pm and again at 9:30pm.
As always, thanks for watching.
Much Love F&S x

Beautiful city day and night. Always a lovely centrepiece a river is! Was dead as! But it was a school night and based on the other comments, it’s a bit more spread out apparently. Maybe we can catch it next time! Kuching is a good shout indeed 👌👌

Welcome n thanks for visiting Kuching! Night life in Kuching does not happen downtown unless there's some events or festivals going on. Night life has all shifted to Saradise, Gala, night eateries etc.

Welcome to Kuching, Sarawak. The ice cream that you ate, the sirup is from Palm Sugar originated in Sarawak.

Yeah Kuching city (both day & nighlife) is quite sleepy and empty during the weekdays. But it goes full blast on the weekend.

Oh really? Does carpenter street ever come alive at night?
@chev290c
@chev290c Месяц назад
@@francandsarah Yeah. For carpenter street, not really. Just a row of Bars and fancy Cafe that is all.. and sadly there is no Night Market nearby the city center as well. They are scattered far downtown.

Monday night is a night where "most" people "behave" as they work the following morning but things starts to change once the week comes to an end or when's it's about to be a long holiday. Another factor is also because Kuching is pretty spread out rather than all of the action happening in one area/place. That being said I hope you guys had a wonderful time in Kuching

Would make a lot of sense, a school night and all. Had a great time regardless, we’re not mad party animals so walking around at night without deafening noises is a nice change!

Nice work guys - it started off very quiet - the cat on the car roof was in charge 🤩 - perhaps it has a market and more life on the weekends ? as you mentioned that low key quietness suits me also - Take care and catch you soon ✌️👋👍🙏

I’d say judging on the comments that it would be a weekend affair. Hard to tell in different countries and cities when things pop off so to speak, but nice and relaxed is always a nice thing for us 😊🙏

Been to the City twice. First visit was a short layover so nothing much to experience. But I decided to come again and spent 2 weeks. So I figure out that there is no Night Market nearby in the city center (Although they should have 1 at least). Only some scattered in downtown areas but I found out that Kuching has less "permanent spot" Night Markets. Only seasonal like popped-out, carnivals or festivals. When I was there, it happened to be the "Mooncake festival" month so they turn the whole Carpenter Street scene into a full-on Street Food night market (Not permanent) so I was kinda lucky. Overall, I have to admit I love the laid back vibes of the city. Relaxing & Chill. Culture is whoesome too, nothing compare to KL. I hear less honking. LOL Anyway, It is alright if you don't like the Laksa. Different people different taste bud. For me personally, it's a fantastic dish. Love your content by the way! ❤ Keep it up

Wow that festival sounds very fun with carpenter St being turned into markets! You were very lucky to see that. We absolutely loved Kuching’s laid back vibes, it was definitely our cuppa tea! It’s possible I just had a bad laksa too, but there was plenty of yummy food in Kuching to try. It’s nice trying new things. Thanks for your lovely comment 🙌🏽🫶❤️

Sarawak as whole is very large and very small population (the whole population is 2.5M which 2 times lesser than the Klang Valley). That being said, Kuching as capital was quite big and it was spreading out, so not many people concentrated in one metropolitan area. So everything was very quiet and tranquil there. Unlike West Malaysia or even neighboring Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam, you rarely bump into someone else. For motorcycle, we had substatial user of two wheel vehicles, but way way lesser compare to West Malaysia and neighboring country. The big state with sparse population made the car travel more easier compare to motorcycle. Don't expect a night life as wild as Thailand or even like Bukit Bintang. People here are very reserved although we are the only state where muslim is not a majority. Most locals will close their shop and people prefer party at their own home. The night market had been declining over the past year. However, we did have a tradition known as "Rumah Asap" where a few restaurants open all night for non-muslim folk share drinks with each others. Occasionally, there will be a lot things going on. Sarawakian love music. Unlike West counterpart, people here a quite progressive so we have a lot of international music festivals going in occasionally. Never went to one of those, but many foreigner love it. Otherwise, a very peaceful state, perfect for introvert and someone who seek solace with tranquility. Perhaps, buy food and drinks and sit on benches facing the waterfront. It was very simple, but people here love things like that.

Things I never thought I would say "My Isaan village is really hectic" lol - you'll love rural Isaan (I warned you). Rop tip for prawns - remove head, rip the legs off, pull tail off, eat (My wife will eat the discarded bits). The fountain show is kind of a watered down version of the Bellagio in Vegas - great Vlog and it's beer o'clock thanks

Haha okie dokie, thank you for the prawn eating tips! It is a bit! Probably a little less money in Borneo Malaysia as opposed to Las Vegas 😂😂

Hi guys, if you are still there you must visit the Top Spot! It's on top of a multi story car park but unmissable having travelled so far, it's just behind the Hilton Hotel (1k) it is a massive food court! And on the Waterfront there is James Brooks ( you was 1 min away @ 12.02 in your vlog and does amazing Sarawak Laksa! I was there 1y 1 week ago and the marques are for a festival that should be on now as we missed it by 10 days due to returning back to the UK.

Theres 2 bars around that area at night. Night life in Sarawak in general are like that, you won't have fear of getting assaulted like in Australia or bump into group of violent drunks.

Kolok Mee and Laksa are Chinese traditional foods. So, DO NOT EAT at the NON-CHINESE stalls, cause they DON'T KNOW how to cook them! You must eat the Kolok Mee and Laksa at the Chinese street, like Carpenter Street in the day time.
